I installed the rear set of spring/dampers from my Bilstein B14 kit today and now I'm wondering if I made a mistake.
The dampers themselves seem to come assembled, with the blue plastic bit covering up a curved (as in 'not flat') washer and the bump stop.... but then there's a loose washer in...
Im thinking of buying one (spare of the moment thing!) and the DVD sat nav NVE-N099P unit.

Just wanted to know what the HU is like, and also how...
Im changing my disc / pads all round and having just ordered uprated fronts, I cant help but wonder if its worth doing the same to the back or just buying standard Renault ones.
Theres not a huge price different and to be honest, I dont care about it anyway! Grooved + drilled (or spotted - to...
Mine turned up on Monday. Just thought Id share a few photos.
The unit has changed somewhat from last years models. Theyve added the external DC/DC converter back again and you no longer need a direct feed from the battery. Its amped with a 15amp fuse. Im not sure if that differs from the 9833...
My mate has a Fiesta Zetec S (Yeah, I know I shouldnt swear on these forums ;-) ) but like on most of them, the steering wheel has kinda melted.
We got him a new one from the scrappy the other day and just need to use his existing airbag module.
Having removed the one at the scrappy, I know...
What do they use to stick the door panels on with on the Mk2 172s?
Its sticky as hell (doesnt ever dry - so its not silicon) and I guess makes a waterproof seal as there is no clear plastic on the door - as there has been on other cars ive taken apart.
Anyway, for one reason or another, Ive...
Ive just fitted my viper (again), but this time I actually fitted the proper air feed - right to the lower grill.
I had to remove the big black plastic lump thats part of the existing air intake system so I could fit the ducting down to the bumper. The thing is, I noticed that there was a...
Anyone know how to do this in a Mk2 172?
i.e. I mean the bit the speaker screws into (not just the grill that I already know pulls off!)
I know these things normally have catches and stuff and I dont want to go breaking any! Course if anyone has a picture of the interior when its out, and of...
Ive never had a problem with my alarm going off but now the damn thing wont stop! I went to get in it tonight and it beeped at me meaning it had gone of lastnight or earlier on today.
Within the past hour is has gone off 3 times! I cant be arsed to go down stairs and open the car door (once...
Just above and to the right of the oil filter, there is a thingy that connects to the engine with a couple of wires coming out of it. Mine has kinda snapped off from its metal holder/securing device and it just dangling there by what I guess is the wire inside of it.
Anyone know what it is...
For no apparent reason, Ive started to get engine noise coming through my speakers. Ive treble checked all the stereo wires and theyre perfect.... oh and of course theyre no different to when it was working just fine!
All Ive done is take my car into renault to be serviced.
Are there any...
Anyone know if this is possible on a Mk2 172?
I understand theyre supposed to be self adjusting but mine seem to stop too close to the car since ive had it lowered and filled the boot up with ICE.
I can only see a little way infront of me when its dark and its dangerous!
Im not sure if anyone has fitted NOS to a Mk2 172 but if you have, any chance of seeing some pics of the engine bay and how it all fits together?!
Cheers!
Now that I have my Dastek Unichip, Im thinking about having a rolling road session testing the standard airbox against one with an aftermarket element and then again against the viper.
Im not sure which (ones?!) to get in terms of aftermarket elements. So far I have only found these 2. Anyone...
Just thought some of you might be interested to see Millway Vehicle Specialists in action ;)
They fitted my unichip today. I started with a lucky 178 and left with welcomed 188 :D (I left the viper off btw because it made the car slower!)
The car feels great now and I recommend you all go...
Anyone ever had any experience of the following garages?
They seem to be the only ones in my area (Essex) that can fit the Dastek Unichips.
BD Engineering
Bengry Motors
The Engine Tuner
Torque Developments
I just want to make sure mine isnt fitted by a bunch of cowboys :)
Anyone got any of them? XR525-CXi to be exact!
Im just wondering how they compare to the likes of the MB Quart Premium range.
I was going for MB Quart in the rear to match the ones I already have up front (same crossovers - neater looking install !!!) but theyve changed the coaxial range now...
I keep finding that when taking my 172 up to the limit - where the green change gear now! light comes on - I cant take it out of gear to change up.
I stick my foot on the clutch (as you do!) and attempt to move the gear stick but its just not having any of it! It doesnt budge an inch - I have...
Say I was to give you about £500 - 600 to spend on a mono amp...which one would you buy?
You want the very best you can get for that money :)
Off the top of my head, theres the Rockford 1001bd, JL Audio 500/1, Directed 1100d.
Anyone had any first hand experience of the above amps? Does any...
I looking at buying myself a capacitor to finish off my new install.
Ive got two in mind:
Audiobahn ACAP1Q (http://www.evilice.co.uk/product.asp?intProdID=16510http://www.evilice.co.uk/product.asp?intProdID=16510) - The picture is wrong - its actually this one...
Im sure I cant be the only dumbass in the world who keeps setting the alarm off!
Im afraid of filling up in the petrol station because it always bloody goes off. Not what you need when loads of people in done up cars are watching you!
I get the feeling it locks / arms itself if you leave it...
