So it's that time of the year again. It's been an amazing year i can't see me topping anytime soon. Winning MSA YPOTY in 2012, then my first time at the British Grandprix and shooting Wales rally GB.
Anyway, enough talk. Here are my favourites. C&C always appreciated positive or negative...
Last week saw me in unfamiliar territory. I was fortunate enough to be shooting Wales Rally GB, which would also be my first Rally. I won't go on (i've got a blog post for that), but I will say that it was awesome. Photographically as easy as any other high level event - great shots to be had...
Another small catchup. Not my final events of the year, but very close.
A somewhat lack laster BTCC Silverstone. Made up for by an absolutely blinding finale at the always brilliant Brands Hatch GP circuit.
C&C encouraged!
I even wrote a few blog posts if you're bored:
BTCC @ Silverstone...
I've not posted in ages once again. So here's a bit of a catchup!
It's been a mixed few months, naturally there will be some BTCC in here. Some British GT at Brands (always a favourite), Lotus Cup and a brief trip over to Spain to shoot the Barcelona 24hr.
I've also been using my primary...
Well in April i found out that an oppertunity would likely come about to shoot a little known race at Silverstone.
Well as a few of you may of seen, it happened last weekend. And it was quite an experience. I had never even been to a GP before this one and i've always been a believer that...
I let my fuel run very low and when I came to start the car again it just turns over. I've put plenty of fuel into it, but it still won't fire.
Imobilisor light goes out when it turns over.
Any ideas?
This weekend was quite unfortunate in many respects. My favourite event of the year has always been DTM at Brands Hatch. It is awesome! Great cars on a great circuit. However with the financial woes of the Nurburgring, i swore to myself that this year i would shoot the Nurburgring 24hr incase it...
So i've been pretty quiet on here lately. I've had a pretty disappointing start to the year photographically speaking, and haven't really had enough images i deemed worth showing you guys for C&C.
However I think i have finally got enough that it's worth a post, some a bit different, some i...
Heres a documentary doing the rounds by the well known F1 Photographer Darren Heath.
Whilst i think it's a little self indulgent and does contain an amount of waffle, he does pretty much nail the difference between top photographers and those that are just photographers, not artists.
His...
* Could a mod fix the title - i managed to post an Image link into it! :o *
I don't use my car as much as i used to i don't need something so sensible anymore....
So the DCI went, 75k in 5 years and was brilliant, never below 58mpg no matter how you drove it. One faulty clutch, broken front...
So i made the trip over to Dubai to shoot the Dubai 24hr Race. Something i've wanted to shoot for a little while.
The circuit itself i was quite impressed by. I hadnt really seen many pics of the circuit online, and knew it wasnt finished in places - so was expecting it to be dire. Yes there...
So last weekend my 1.5 DCI 80 started making a knocking/chuffing sound from the cambelt/aux area. Power wasnt affected. Aux belt was removed to confirm it wasn't the Alternator or anything in the Aux system.
Friendly mechanic has gone to pick it up and said he believes that the sound was the...
Well it's that time of the year again! It doesn't seem like 5 mins i was putting up my 2011 selection!
I'm afraid this is a huge selection of images. Hopefully the TP gods will turn a blind eye on this occasion!
A few perhaps boring - perhaps interesting stats on the images in this...
My 1.5 DCI 80 has just developed a chugging noise. It is naturally consistent with RPM. The sound seems to be coming from the front left (as you look at it) of the engine. Around either the cam belt/starter motor (or at least i think that's what it is!?)
I had a Cambelt and Waterpump done about...
As I'm pretty sure most of you know, it was the BTCC Final at Brands Hatch last weekend.
Out of all of the races of the season i have been looking forward to this one the most. Not only because it is the final, but it is also to my mind one of the most photogenic circuits on the calendar and...
Hey All,
Bit of a catchup, BTCC from a week ago. My resounding memory of that event will be the rain. And then more recently GT1/BGT from Donington, which will be remembered for the appalling traffic getting there and back (although i did love the event).
So here we go with some BTCC. C&C much...
So i've done a few different events lately, and frankly photographically none have justified a thread of their own. So here is a round up of a few images i did like.
First off, some BTCC - in short, Very hot, Lots of walking and great racing.
1. Fresh from the USA
2. Fresh out the box
3...
As i only live 30 mins away from the Box Hill part of Surrey (and encouraged by Ryan) i popped along to watch the 9 lap section of the mens road race yesterday.
Had a really brilliant time, Watching the pain pack (peloton?) come past was amazing, you really don't get a sense of how fast and...
Very old topic - but quite a cool video where the Digital Rev youtube channel give portrait photographer Zack Arias a (crappy) compact camera and flash and set him the task of shooting portraits (using the flash).
Skip to 15.10 to see the results. Epic if you ask me.
I never got around to posting this selection up on here. Over on Talkphotography they sparked a bit of a conversation about post processing and using photoshop. Specifically around image 7. Perhaps more of an experimental set than usual - so feel free to be brutally honest :)
The weekend itself...
Well as you have probably noticed by now, it was BTCC at Oulton this weekend.
In short, great weekend and weather but i was really disappointed with the results. Whilst i got a few shots i really like - i didn't manage to find many new or interesting angles that Oulton definitely has plenty...
Rob Austin (Drives the Audi A4 for his own team in BTCC) driving his TS19 around Monaco at a historics event.
He is always superb to watch driving, always going 110% even when the car is probably irreplaceable and pretty pricey. But it's great to see the car being driven as it was intended!
So it was DTM this weekend just gone, and it was brilliant. I really enjoyed the event, the secuirty wasnt as OTT as previous years (or even BSB) and the weather held out for most of the weekend.
Glad to say i didnt break any cameras this weekend, but i was playing with my new ND8 filter (which...
So it was BTCC at Thruxton this weekend. After finding some new angles at Donington a few weeks ago i upgraded Thruxton to my least favourite circuit on the calendar. So given the predicted weather for the weekend - you can imagine how much i was looking forward to this event.
Anyway, Saturday...
So this weekend was the turn of Donington to host the BTCC. Probably my least favourite circuit on the calendar, however it was the first time i spent 2 days there. So i had a bit more time to look out some interesting shots compared to previous years, so i am happier with the shots, but i think...
Well that was a pretty awesome first round to the BTCC.
Had a great weekend, lots of catching up with friends and lots of standing around in the Sun while various cars were picked out of the scenery on Sunday.
Heres some of my favourites, as ever your C+C is always encouraged.
1. This man put...
We did this last year, with pretty hit and miss success.
Time Trial mode (i think this means the cars have all the upgrades)
Melbourne
No Assists (no driving line)
I've done a few quick laps just to get a time going.
Wheel, Redbull : 1.22.210
So with Britcar this previous weekend that draws a line under my 2011 season. I've done about 20-25 events this year, similar to last year, its been an interesting one. It hasn't quite been such a memorable year in terms of championship battles, but it has been very entertaining all the same...
Yup, i cant believe its been a year. But it has, an epic one at that.
Here are my efforts from Silverstone, not my favourite circuit by a long way, so perhaps a little less of my weird photos as i just haven't had the time to explore the National circuit. For such a small circuit, its huge...
