    Standard 182 vs rx8

Having gone back to an RX8 from my 172 i would think it would be very close, the RX8 has better initial traction and would probably stay ahead, my 172 felt faster in the 20 - 60 mph range but seemed to lose it after 60 where the RX8 is just getting into its stride. The rx8 does 50 to 82 (7000...

    phase 1 172 buying advice

It gets said a lot on here but you need to make sure a specialist or at least someone who knows what they are doing and has the official locking tools does the belts. You hear some horror stories of belt changes going bad on here, just a word of warning. Your looking at about £500 from memory...

flow of exhaust gasses trough cat

Normally you have to install them the right way round as the reactions have to happen in the right order chemically. A lot of them arent symmetrical so they cant be installed wrong. Performance wise i dont think it makes a difference but emissions wise it will.

    Uprated cams for 182

Cams alone will obviously have an effect on the output of the engine, usually positive if the cams are ground correctly. The effect of the cams is to optimise breathing for a certain rev range at the expense of others. The cams generally available for the F4R seem relatively tame in the 270...

    My mates mini...delightful!

I have built mine with 125hp for about 6k on the engine normally aspirated, in order to do that I'm running a miglia crank, swiftune rods, everything lightened. It's topping out at about 8400 hence my rocker issues. Got the med low distortion rockers now which are fantastic. Reliability is an...

    My mates mini...delightful!

This is very true, every engine transplant mini iv ever been in has lost the mini handling charachteristics. Not really a problem if your not used to minis but just don't feel good when your used to them. I'm running 125 hp and a weight of 680kg so about 183 bhp / tonne. The main benefit is...

    My mates mini...delightful!

Yeah that build could easily push more than 130. I would have thought it would get to 150 with relative ease, problem at that power is rods, rockers and gearbox. 130 is a sensible figure tho as you won't be pushingso much torque to wreck boxes. I assume it's running a straight cut box and...

    My mates mini...delightful!

They look like the Huddersfield Mini Spares ones but nt sure theirs are that dark. Not road legal either unfortunately you will need reflectors, they look good on a black car tho, normally standard look best on a mini but i like them.

    My mates mini...delightful!

Thats a lovely job, conservative on power for a turbo but that should give it nice drivability and life. Thats one of the nicest jobs i have seen, i hope my paint job comes out like that, it looks great. I am finding it quite amusing that iv been on mini forums for 10 years and im seeing better...

    Epic MK1 Mini

Thats a nice job, my personal preference is nothing other than A series engines in minis but thats one of the best jobs i have seen done. Cant wait to get back in my mini :)

    Anyone else dislike their 1*2?

There are many cars that handle better but not many as good all round for the money. I love the look and sound of my Ph1 and im happy with how it goes and handles. The build quality is relatively poor but so far its nothing more than rattles, nothing has actually gone wrong. Theres a 197 parked...

1k to spend on making my clio better ?

Depends on what you want to improve really, as you put supercharger or throttle bodies as your top two thoughts i would assume your a bit bored of the car. If you can do bodies for less than 1K which is possible but you need the help of someone who really knows what they are doing then i would...

    Warrington meet Thurs 26th August @ 7:30

Damn i missed this, was in Warrington to go to Ikea and got food at burger king on way, saw a Clio and a Megane turn up at B&Q then saw a blue 182 a bit further down near PC World. I was in my Ph1 as well, gutted :(

    Aluminum Bonnet 172 ph1, Rare / Expensive / Real?

I was amazed when i got mine a few weeks ago just how light the elusive aluminium one is. It is about a quarter of the weight of a standard bonnet at a rough guess. Also seemed to fit better than a non sport steel bonnet too.

Now look where I am!--What av I done to deserve this?

Its not a greeny blue colour is it? does it go alright as my friend from Oldham sold a 1.2 with a knackered head gasket a few weeks back to a woman and it was up for sale around that area again recently!!

    182 Miles per tank

    182 Miles per tank

I have got between 300 to 400 on a full tank, i have a 16 mile commute down b roads to work so it depends on my mood, some days are a blast whereas some days its loads of traffic doing 40 mph in 5th gear and saving fuel. The 400 to a tank i achieved with almost all of it being motorway. Most...

    Classic Car Insurance

I have a classic car policy for my mini and have had for a few years now. Basically i think mileage and storage will be your issues, for my policy it has to be less than 5k per year, no drivers under 25 and must be stored on private property. The garage part only comes into effect on mine if...

    Ph1 172 Throttle body FIX

Yes indeed, the people who make circlips make books to tell you all about them, they are not funny at all, actually pretty boring but they do tell you what you need to know about circlips! If you think the Ph1 is the only car to suffer from stuck throttles your sadly mistaken, its way, way more...

    Ph1 172 Throttle body FIX

Id love to know your mechanical background to offer such a blase statement. Circlips are for retention of components not for location. If you dont believe me get a circlip book and read what it has to say. As for the circlip stopping the side to side movement it can do that but badly and only...
