flow of exhaust gasses trough cat

  mk2 ph2 172 Flamer
I was just wondering is there any difference if you put the cat the other way around will it still do the same job?

  172 Ph1, 1972 Mini 1
Normally you have to install them the right way round as the reactions have to happen in the right order chemically. A lot of them arent symmetrical so they cant be installed wrong.

Performance wise i dont think it makes a difference but emissions wise it will.

the thing is I've got a 182 mani and a 172 exhaust, so need to make tha cat fit. thats why I'm wondering if it makes any difference which way i put it back on
ps. i need to cut both flanges off

it wont help. Standard cats are crap end of, a 182 sports cat would be a better bet..
