Re: ***How much is my car worth?***
Ok, I'd like an idea of what my Clio is worth.
It's a 172 in Flame Red- 02 plate
71k on the clock
Due a small service now, but book is stamped with every service up to now
Cambelt kit done late 2008
Last service did oil/filters/plugs/brake fluid
Tiny...
I like it - almost all the ones you see are boring navy blue or green. Always nice to have a car in a different colour to most the others of it's ilk (but then I own a bright turquoise kit car so what do I know).
I actually like the gold wheels too :o
I'm glad it's not just me that found the idea of Acetone on paintwork a strange one, and I know nothing.
Jobs a good 'un then, I'll go get some of that stuff. Hope this sorts the paintwork out - maybe I ought to take before/after photos as that seems like the done thing (although it'll be 5mp...
Can I get away with this polish?
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_718051_langId_-1_categoryId_165527#dtab
And yes, I am tight when it comes to car cleaning products.....
Isn't Acetone quite harsh on paintwork though?
I best get some SRP then - although my Saxo isn't getting that much TLC - it's just my runaround. Not worth doing the Tiger - it has very little bodywork anyway, and a lot of it is just bare carbon fibre anyway (which has gone 'milky' in a few...
What's the acetone comment in relation to?
What kind of cloth do I use to put polish on/buff it up?
At the moment I've got some small foam applicators for debug/tar stuff which I've then got an old buffing cloth for removing. Then another foam applicator for wax, with 2 buffing clothes for...
You're speaking to someone who knows nothing about detailing here.....what's SRP?
I'm going to order some of that BH soft stuff - found a 200gram bar for £10.99 online plus postage - and they'll send it 1st class recorded which I don't think is that pricey/is easier to collect for me. Hope...
Gally - thanks for the comments - I noticed on detailing world forum this morning that BH clay is recommended.
I'll have debugged/de tarred the whole car before starting with the clay with Megiars stuff - is that enough? It's not actually my car (and it's a 5 door tdi so never going to be...
I'm probably being impatient, but anyone?
Noticed there is some clay on ebay - blue stuff - think it costs about £6 delivered (ish) - is this likely to do the job?
Righto - so it appears I need to get a clay bar and lube for it. Ditch the chamois, but go with my new drying cloth that I haven't used yet.
Given I'm a total novice, is there any brand of clay that is easier to use then the others?
I don't want to spend pots of cash on one, as I'm still not...
What's wrong with a chamois?
I did buy a 'drying cloth' today but haven't used it yet - is that better?
I know nothing about clay - is that going to do the job if the sap or whatever it is has eaten into the laquer?
How much is clay likely to cost/what make is best/how do you use it...
Hi there, I'm not into detailing really, and never actually let my cars get into so much of a state that they need anything drastic doing to them. I normally wash my (decent) cars once a week, or maybe twice if I'm lazy/it's winter.
The new gf's mk 6 golf is black metallic and was looking...
I had the cheaper Gaz coilovers a few years back on my cup 182 and thought they were fine. Quite firm, but worked well for me. Gaz golds will presumably be better again.
I'm 30 so not in anyway in the same boat as you, but Adrian Flux almost never fail to come up with a great quote. Currently got my Tiger insured for them for £197 fully comp when the next best quote was about £800.
Admiral are insuring my Saxo and they undercut all the other companies I tried...
I loved my S2000 it was awesome. I did get bored of paying £100 a month insurance at 29 though.
Cheaper to insure both my kit car which is faster/more raw then the Honda and my Saxo Vts which is still nippy, but cheaper to run daily.
Neither impress girls though - the Honda was awesome for...
Not sure if this is the right part of the forum or not, but it is a technical fault, and know a few people on here have Saxo Vts/have had them in the past.
Mine has been fine until recently, but now it's hunting a little at idle sometimes, and holding onto revs sometimes when in gear. It's a...
But what about when it rains - surely you can't see out the back then - especially on a motorway when all the cr*p is sucked onto the back window?
It does my nut in on the Saxo - and I think it just looks weird without the wiper!
My Saxo Vts runaround has had the rear wiper removed, it's the most annoying thing in the world. Keep meaning to go to a scrapyard to get a new motor/arm.
Seems the most pointless modification in the world imo.
Pah, lightweights - a VX is fine for everyday - I ran my VX220 NA throughout a UK winter as my only car.
Occassionally have to scrape the inside of the windscreen, but that's par for the course.
Nice turbo - I'd have loved one of those, but a bit more then I'd like to spend on a car, plus...
Good work on the snow driving - I used to love taking my VX220 out in the snow and ice. Made for ridiculous drift angles at about 10mph wherever you went. People looked at me funny for having the roof off too - but it was sunny and a very crisp day. Amazing driving experience.
Both of your...
This thread is making me even more excited about this weekend - if the weather is nice I should be picking up a Tiger R6 - 2 litre zetec on webber 45's/Tarox 6 pot brakes/carbon fibre arches/straight cut gearbox etc. Can't wait!
What tyres have you got on the westfield and has it been very...
They probably spliced in a converter thing that then has an RCA lead going from it to the amp. Bit pikey, but that's what I had in my 182. I think the 182 has a better headunit though - the Cabasse one puts out more power then the lower spec ones. Mine sounded fine on the standard speakers - I...
I guess you could just run some front components with cross overs in the doors, but I wouldn't have thought the standard headunit gives you many options/as much power as a half decent aftermarket headunit.
I think you need to lose the bonnet bra and get the car lowered - it will make the black wheels look a lot better with the silver colour of the car.
Exhaust should be good when fitted, good work.
The Mini just didn't feel like it was designed for thrashing - the runflats/suspension made it feel like it bounced off stuff rather then absorbing it like it should so the car got thrown all over the place. To me it felt more like a car that had been tuned from one not designed for that sort of...
Don't get me wrong, it made a brilliant noise, but there was just something that made me feel like I shouldn't have been doing it. Didn't have that problem with my Saxo Vts (x2)/182/VX220/S2000 etc.
Dare I say it felt like I was thrashing a 'girls car' not designed for it lol.
