I've spent a fortune trying to put a vw box in my car purely because there is no decent Renault alternative. If Renault boxes were good I'd have fitted one, fact is theyre shite. Adding complications will only make matters worse IMO.

Would love to be proved wrong but like I said Renault have never made a gearbox capable of withstanding some ham fisted eejit changing gear in 0.000003 seconds

It might. Like I said hope it is, but given results track record I'm not holding my breath.

Any issues with the jukes box? Or are they too new to have any mileage or wear related issues?

Probably too new I'd say, the mk3 boxes tended to go after a year or two didn't they?

Given the fact it's a 5dr, it's irrelevant to me as I won't be interested.

To be fair I don't think the 1*2 boxes are all that bad. They might not be the best for taking more power or people that change gear like mongs but mine still seems fine on 105k (touch wood) and I don't treat it with kid gloves!

But OK you are right it is well VW gearboxes which are mounted on the racing engines of Renault... LOL (you read me and my explanations even if my English is "pidging" and you dont keep in your point of view ? I'm not sure ^^)

The mk2 boxes are the jc5 which are afaik at the limit of their ability in the clios. So naturally when clios get upgraded then they suffer. But look at the older jc5's in the megane and they're popping circlips, stripping synchros etc. only a matter of time before clios Start doing this too (although the circlips issue is more or less sorted on the newer ones). The mk3 boxes didn't last long before going wrong either so I just hope Nissan have had the majority of influence on the new box because I can't see Renault improving.

I give up with kumkum, we clearly aren't understanding each other and you are way to biased and slightly dillusional to have a discussion about how RS may be bad at something

nothing wrong with the mk3 boxes. its clowns who think they are Vin Diesel abusing the s**t out them that brakes them. the box could be stronger to cater for these ejits like most other manufacturers boxes are, however if driven correct they wont fail.

my car has obviously had its fair share of problems requiring a new engine at only 2500 miles but i would put money on my gearbox not failing and lets keep in mind my car averages 19-21mpg most weeks! im not sure on what other members know how to look after a gearbox other than mark cup after watching a few of his videos, bet he doesnt have any issues with his 200 box either!
 
I really hope theirs a manual option as well I'm not a fan of dsg :(

I'm sure vw & BMW buy their dsg boxes from someone so they may have done the same

Or with merc tie ins maybe they have borrowed something from them

I'd be shocked if it had a trick gearbox really. They released the Megane 265 trophy this year and there was a full paragraph in the press release explaining why it didn't have a DSG Box. Something about RenaultSport drivers being driving enthusiasts and the RS division decided a DSG box would take away the fantastic driving experience the cars are renowned for.

A fancy box would also add ££££ significantly shifting Clios pricing point and therefore target market. There's also the cost of training the dealer network on how to fix and maintain them.

This thread is kinda just speculation though so is genuinely take anything you read in here with a pinch of salt.

My source is from a French Magazine specialist of Racing cars and from an automobile ingeneer and sorry but for me "Wikipedia" by principles is not by far a proof or a serious proof in all ^^

Well we will see in a years time when the specs are released won't we :)

BTW Autoexpress aren't exactly Wikipedia but they make things up all the time.

I'm not disputing that they are making a trick gear box - it would make sense for them to do that as it seems a bit of a trend. I just don't think they will put it in a RenaultSport. The link talks about dci Megane 110 etc. Not watched the video though.

Like I say time will tell what the crack is :)

I never said that the gearbox saw in the video will be this of the Clio 4RS (??)

I show that to say at some members here : "Dont worry mates Renault and Renault Sport know how to made good automatic gearbox at least in the level of the VW DSG or others from others brands"

But for my own opinion I prefer by far that the Clio 4RS have a normal clutch...

I would ignore the photoshops that come from autoexpress. They tend to do it with every new car, which then looks nothing like the photoshop.

Also they quote 34mpg for the clio 200. LOL.

'm thinking they'll simply mate a tweaked (ratios/throw) Juke manual box with the engine. Why would you not?

The Juke has a superb engine and gearbox btw. Gearboxes are hardly Reanult's strong point!

Cant see the exhaust tip looking like that on the actual car.
you know thats the same diffuser and exhaust design as the megane 250 right? so its got a very good chance of looking like that!

personally they should just chop a chunk of cash off them and sell them direct with NO dealers as IMHO no dealers is better than the useless bunch of w**k bags we currently have up and down the country.
