AlexW's Driveway Antics :)

  Many.
I have some more to update on this, but this is a purely text post, (TLDR at the end, don't worry).

I've done a few miles in the Flamer now, with it making standard power (probably around 100Bhp tbh), so thought I'd give my opinion on it, as a few people have asked, and reflecting back over the project, and weather I'd do it again.

Well, would I do it again, probably, but only on my own car (Don't worry, I won't be doing the black one too). I could probably do this conversion within a month now, I've learnt a f**king lot along the way, and I'd love to put a 2.0 M9R in a Clio3 now.

Drives good, needs more power but I knew the starting figures would suck. 6speed box is nice, although the Megane box is a little too short, but I shall look into it in the future, however its not terrible. Its cost me a lot of money, that I will NEVER add up, but in the end, Id say its worth it to say I've done it, and nobody else has.

I'm calling this version 1, as I'd like to re-adjust certain things in the future, engine hangs pretty low, boost pipes are tight (I will be going hard pipes eventually), and theres a few other bits that aren't to my standards.

I'm doing a trackday in may, so I'd best get some mileage done on this before then, as I want to prove its good before I go chucking it around.

It has put a smile on my face though, so its all good.

TLDR... Its too slow and its not finished.

More progress tomorrow (poss)/ next week. Unfortunately missing the Bury St Edmunds Meet tomorrow, but I'll get it out soon.

Wow, nearly a month since the last post.

Couple of pics from when I was building the exhaust...

I didnt get any pics with it welded, but its been on for a while now and its perfect. I could do with sorting a tip out, but I'll leave that for now as it'll act like a megaphone, on a already 95/97db exhaust lol.

Been using it daily without major issues, loaded a better map on it, and its a lot, lot faster now, real torque.

Found myself some OZ F1s and stuffed some NS2Rs on.

Cleaned them, (Yeah, I know its the wrong order lol)

and stuck two on.

I then moved them to just on the front.

Didn't get four tyres in time, which sucks, but gives me time to clean the other two, which are very very dirty... Heres after doing half of it with wonder wheel for 20mins lol.

Tided up the engine bay a bit, next up is sorting the breather properly, this wasn't high up my priority as the standard setup has a in-built catch tank that works very well, and then a K&N air filter which should be on its way to me, to replace the aweful foam.

It did bloody well on track, Far from the slowest thing out, overtook quite a few and most importantly, had brilliant fun, new surface is great.

Wheels are dirty again :(

I have Snetterton on Wednesday evening, so see how I go for that!

  Many.
Looks so s**t on them wheels.
Wiring looks better in the bay, wish you would trim that hose back though.
Looks kinda clean in the photos.

I like

As I said, I love it on these wheels, looks so stupid.

Yeah I do need to trim that boost pipe, however I'm going to move the AFM once my K&N turns up, so going to do it then, in case I need to move that boost pipe at all. I did clean it Friday night!

you cut the mount in the end I see.

I like this

Yeah, kinda helped, need to sort the front gearbox mount differently now.

I like it too :p

As you've bumped it, i'll do an update.

I did snetterton without issues, loved the track and certainly want to do it again!, Then did Blyton Park on the 10th, another epic track, really enjoyed that. Car was faultless through both, I did new brake pads before Blyton, fitted DS2500s and I abused the f**k out of them at Blyton and they took it so easily, still great on the road too.
Was first proper suspension test, despite mine having 275lb front, and 200lb rear, with the shocks set to full hard at snett, I was lifting wheels and the car was f**king epic, I slowly increased the settings until the last session I found the sweet spot. At Blyton, I set them to full hard, not realising how bumpy the track is, so spent the next few sessions winding them down lol.

I dont have any pics saved on my phone of the car at Snett or Blyton, but I recently did some work on the car...

I've been slacking on my car because I've had a driveway full..

So the clutch Slave packed up, and the fuel pump, so best thing, pull the engine out!

A wet, but together Flamerr

First time I've had engine out since doing exhaust, love it. Also a good chance to check for other issues, noticed Ive experienced a bit of side to side engine movement on track, signs on chassis legs, engines tight!

Put most bits together, tried battery cover on, looks well out of place, still bits to do in this pic.

In the end, while it was out I did....
Cambelt kit (Genuine)
Water pump
High pressure fuel pump
Clutch Slave cylinder
Oil temp sensor in Sump
Fitted short shifter, after a bit of modifying
all fluids changed... I have forgotten what else.

Gotta fit a in-tank fuel pump now too, then its done, in time for FCS!

@Martin_172, heres the Video I got of it with a mate driving...

Now I need a bigger turbo, and to map it, its alright atm, but needs more for sure.

  Many.
I did CSS, and then tried to get to CSOC Blyton, but driveshaft broke on the way, I'll put a proper post up, but its been sat since September really.

Really interesting thread, love your DCI exhaust......... I want you to make one :)

What power/torque did it end up producing? Thinking of removing the egr, decat/straight through and a decent map.

Thanks gaz
