Sure there is, but nowhere I know of measures it. Probably because the sheer amount of torque isn't the most important thing as far as that particular force goes, and a torque-to-weight measurement would be very misleading. More important is the torque curve. For example, a car might have...
That's what I thought. No sane person would offer that. If they're serious, though, accept immediately and get the money in your account quickly before they change their mind. Do it now!
On ice (or gravel), ABS is extremely counter-productive, there's no disputing that. So rather than letting you know that you're braking too hard, it's actually preventing you from braking enough.
Much better than FWD! It's much easier to direct things safely because understeer is less of a problem even given the slippyness. Gentle balance of the throttle and clutch and Bob's your mother's brother. The car does exactly what you tell it to, and there are no computers telling you that you...
I agree with 90% of the original post. Hell, I drive a Mk1 Eunos: No ABS, no traction control, no airbags. And rear-wheel-drive. And in this snow and ice I wouldn't want to be driving anything else. DEFINITELY not anything with ABS, TC or the like.
Trophy Piers. My brother's mate has one and they are the ultimate stock 182. Fact. Also fact is that if you're gonna be driving it to work and back, you don't want one because the suspension will annoy the hell out of you at town speeds. :D
This car has been great to me. It's never put a foot wrong really, being consistently economical, reliable and good looking. I hope someone here can see its strengths in the same light that I did (I swapped a FF 182 for it!). It really is a great car for someone who wants an economical hatch...
What you MEANT to say there is that the 197 is unquestionably more technically capable than the 182. ;) Better is subjective according to how much weight you give to things like the increased build quality, bigger footprint on the road and more stable feeling. Others would place greater...
Have to say that in looks I prefer the 197, but to drive I wouldn't think twice about going for a 182. It has the crucial feeling of 'being alive' that the 197 completely lacks. I'm sure most folks on here who have driven both know what I mean. :)
Altogether it's a massive shift. I'm looking forward to this season, I'm expecting some 'shocks' this year under the new system. Force India for their first win, anyone? Hmmm... perhaps not.
Top stuff! Nice pics, well done. Particularly like the side-on ones of the 6 cars in a line on top of the fells with all the scenery in the background.
And why muck about with your own car to see how it looks when other people can make the mistakes for you? I've never done much of anything to any car I've owned, simply because I've seen how wrong people usually get it. I've figured it's easier to live and let live. Then when Mr Chavtastic and...
IMO standard vs standard the Clio is quicker above 50. It's a close thing below that, but 3rd and 4th gears from 5.0 to 10.0+ in the 182 sees off a standard Civic Type R every time. Wouldn't have minded the Civic's BQ and seats though.
Let's ask ourselves one question. Does it look better than if he'd have completely left it alone and done nothing to it? No, I don't think it does. Hence he's ruined it. And probably spent a fortune on it in the process. Bad times.
About a week till it's bye bye Clio :S for money reasons, picking up a 206 gti hdi instead. Sahara yellow, quality colour. And it won't show the crap anything like as badly as black gold lol.
Reliability, the fragility of the paint, general build quality, running costs. But I do love the handling, and the engine of course. Not mine anymore though, sold it today. Ah well, maybe have a 197 in a few years.
I've got a 182, and I don't regret buying it for one minute. Buuuut... I'm not earning the money I used to be and I can't afford it any more. Maybe if I had my time again I'd have bought a Fabia vRS or a Peugeot 206 GTi HDi instead, saved some cash in the short term and lived a bit more...
