You have to laugh at people saying the Golf is heavy. If the information I've just read is correct, it weighs 1328Kg. Not that heavy at all! Besides which, if it's mapped to 240bhp, that's 183bhp/ton. I won't even mention the torque.
End of the day, the Clio would only be on a par with a...
I was also quoted 6 hours when mine was done.
A crate of Stella usually helps.....as for tools, being a total non-mechanic I wouldn't have a f**king clue.
It won't fail an MOT just because of a missing VIN plate if that's your worry.
As long as the chassis number is visible, it doesn't matter.
The car has surely had a smash though because why would anyone remove it otherwise?
Those aren't real times though are they?
The folloing are all on test:
Evo magazine:
Phase1 172 - 18.2
Trophy - 17.3
182FF - 17.5
172cup - 17.7
172 - 18.9
Autocar:
197 - 17.7
182FF - 17.0 (6.3 to 60mph).
I've never driven a 172 but I can't imagine there's much difference.
Quicker to 60mph is pure pub-talk, you won't feel a difference when there's barely half a second between them.
I had a Saxo Vts (very light mods, manifold and head) and my cup doesn't feel any quicker except at high speeds...
I'm on the brink of selling the cup due to the problems I've had.
It's an absolute money pit, every time it goes wrong it costs me hundreds of quid. Had it 18 months and I reckon I've thrown almost £1800 on repairs plus £400 quid for 4 new tyres when I bought it.
w**k.
Fantastic fun car...
Just a quick update on this,
I called a second Renault garage to clarify the cost and when I asked them if they were perhaps confusing the 172 with the 172cup they told me it was still a 3 hour job on the cup because the front bumper has to come off!
WTF!
For a 172 cup.
Been quoted £399 fitted (exchange) through Renault.
Renault say it's a lengthy job but I've done a search on here and people are saying it's 1.5 hours max.
For parts only they quoted £170 so they must be charging 3 hours labour.
What have other people paid? Any advice?
6.3 does seem a bit quick but at the end of the day, are we going to argue with figures that are in black and white? Also, Evo magazine have tested various Cliosport models at 6.5 yet many people will still say the car is 6.8 or even 7 seconds to 60mph. Maybe some people get mixed up with 0-62mph.
Just as a point of reference, there is a Cliosport buyers guide in Performance Car this month.
Says the set up on the 182cup is slightly stiffer than the 172cup!? Not sure if that's correct or not.
Take a look, it's a good read.
Oh, and I'd get a 172cup hence I own one!
Is my blue 172cup the exact same colour as the blue used on the 182?
There is a chance I might want to replace the drivers door and wanted to know whether a door off a 182 would go straight on should one become available?
