What age is too old for an RS Clio?

the old clio is girly looking tbh and is a young persons car imo. but if the older generation still enjoy it no worries to me tbh.

i'd actually quite like a 325 bmw tbh now. drive a bmw 3 series at work and i love it. drives superb. plus sounds awesome. plus may sound a bit corny, but i just ''like'' the bmw interior/feel. just feels good.

guy in my town is 50 and drives rs's, had a 182 and is driving a 197 cup, if clio fits in with your lifestyle then why not, i dont have kids and planning a new rs

  MK2 PH2 172 cup
I'm nearly 33 and don't think I'm to old for it. At the end of the day it's the best drivers car that falls within my budget. If I was 50-60 and my budget was the same then I would still get one. f**k what other people think.
+1 ;) im just about to turn 44 got a ph2 172 cup and love it

  197
46 here in a 197. Yes I could have a Beemer or an Audi but then I'd be like my work colleagues, old before their time. I spend 40 hours a week acting grown up so what's wrong with having a bit of fun in a 197 regardless of age. If anybody wants to buy me a new car, tax it, insure it and pay the running costs then I will happily let the Clio go.

Clio is a young mans/b**ches car. So I’m going to be kind…anyone over 35 with a Clio seriously needs to rethink there life.

This excludes people with mental issues, other vehicles on the driveway and if the Clio happens to be a V6…..MK2!

SUBWAY...DONE! xx

And there speaks the font of all wisdom.

WTF does it matter what age you are and driving an RS. :nono:

If Evo (A grown up's Magazine) puts two in their top ten driver's cars then they must be right. Who says that speed should be for the young. All I can say is £240 a year insurance why shouldn't I drive an RS. :rasp:

BTW I am 52 and bought my Clio to celebrate my kid's leaving home and being able to buy a car for me and not my family. I think I deserve it and have much more fun in it than any other car that I have owned.

I'm also fairly active on this forum and turn up for local and national meets.

I'm 39 and have owned an Integrale and Scoobies before I got into Clio's having had most MK1's including 2 Williams's and now I've got a Trophy.

My car is tracked regularly and I really can't think of a car that's so much bang for the buck........

Plus I pay under £500 fully comp with all my mods declared and get 30mpg try getting that in a Scooby or Evo.

Never felt too old for my car but maybe I am old enough to know how to drive it and have fun - LOL

;)

u dont have to be old to know how to drive ;)

But that does seem to be the general trend!

Deffinatly get a clio, just means when u put ITB's on it with a set of AST coiloverss.... it will be cheaper to insure than before :D

You're never too old for any car imo. I'll drive what ever car I want at any age. Arsed what people think? No.

I must admit I feel a bit of a t**t turning up to things suited and booted and getting out of a bright orange clio.

I must admit, I went out on a date the other night and I took an Audi A3 rather than the Clio. Buckets and harnesses don't give the right first impression.

The good thing about being an older driver is you can afford the go faster bits instead of dreaming about them:rasp:

What's so important about all this image crap... If it makes YOU smile... It's right for you.

Your only too old when you want to drive slow in it! In other words require a car for a different purpose other than fun. I'm 35 and got a 3 year old and another on the way. Missus has the sensible Audi A4, so I'm keeping the clio 182 wihich I've just let K-tec play with. A guy at the begining of this thread said that the focus RS or St was the next logical step up... Well yes in terms of performance but they are even more young man boy racer looking than the clio. Point is most people can't even afford the insurance on the clio until they're 25+ anyway so how's 25 too old? No diffinately get another one. 182 is better (imo) but if your gonna do mods you may as well get the cheaper 172 and mod that.

^^ wisely said ! I believe when you've driven other cars and KNOW HOW to drive, the 172 is one of the most fun. AND with experience it is a car that can be taken to the edge and over , so i think the age of the driver counts here ;). A lot of young people end up going horribly wrong into bad crashes sadly with these Clios

I have a 172 Cup, am 37 years old and it's been a lot more "fun" than my former 280hp Scooby !

It's a drivers car . f**k the image

  Clio 172 RS2
Renault Sport reads; Never grown up... ;)

Turning 43 in december, having equal 'fun' as with my former car a measely 65 Bhp-ed Mini Cooper 1.3 Mpi.

Image is nothing. It's all about the thrill of driving.

When you start worrying about if you're "too old" for a certain car I'd personally just give up.

  Fiesta Zetec S TDCi
I haven't even managed to get one yet and I'm 33 so I'm hoping I have a couple of years at least!

  PS 200
Some hi/low lights of my car ownership;

Teens
Mk3 Cortina (Dad's old car - Free)
Escort 1.6 (Uncle's old company car - bargain)
Triumph Vitesse 2.0 Convertible. (My favourite car - completely unreliable - you never knew what bit would fall off next)

20's
Astra SRi (Best part was the LED Speedo)
Calibra (Looked great (at the time) - Drove like the Vectra)
Astra 1.6 (It was cheap)
Vectra SRi (Worst car I've owned)

30's
Subarus (Classic Turbo, UK300, STi08) (All Great cars)
Focus ST170 (Under powered pish)
Audi Quattro 3.0 Sport (Dull & dangerous in corners)
Volvo 740 estate (I must have died at some point)

40's
Shogun (Great 4WD)
Suzuki Swift (OK)

Current
Clio 200 (Loving it)

Pound for Pound the Clio is the most fun you can have in a NEW car.

The Audi lost me the most money during my ownership of it (Depreciation cost approx the cost of the Clio) !

So far I've owned the Shogun the longest (3 years) - average is approx 13 months.

Who gives a s**te how old you are - get the car you want - I always have. Actually - that's not true - I have sometimes got cars that the wife wanted - they were all the bad ones ;)

They would with me, I'd love it if someone turned up with buckets and harnesses!

Ditto. Not sure why someone would feel compelled to do something at a set age? :S

too old for a clio at 25 flol

i'm 39 with 2 kids :rasp:

Don't you find it laughable someone is questioning being too old at 25 for one?!

When you start worrying about if you're "too old" for a certain car I'd personally just give up.

Yup, as in most things.

I haven't even managed to get one yet and I'm 33 so I'm hoping I have a couple of years at least!

Didn't get mine till I was in my 30's :)

theres a 40 odd year old woman on my road who drives a ph2 182

Life doesn't suddenly stop and get all serious at 40 lol.

Oh dear, this thread has given me a good laugh at least.

  Clio 172 Exclusive
Well I'm 26 and have just bought my first 172, because the insurance was reasonable. I paid £1000's for insurance as a learner/first years of driving so didn't want to pay that again! I don't care what people think of the 'image' I love it, and will certainly be having another one :approve:

I do feel a bit old for one (33) but its a track car I have an ST220 mondeo for the family stuff.

fancy swapping them both for a nice megane 225 tho. Nice compromise maybe

  Clio 182 + Recaros
40 and I have a 182 which I have owned from new. I cycle into work so I only use it on the weekends but it still puts a smile on my face.
