When I come to service my 172 in a couple of months I'm thinking of doing things a little differently. Until now my 172's engine has always been serviced with bog standard replacements, e.g oil, oil filter, airfilter, sparkplugs. The belts have been done at the prescribed intervals. I've never...
Got a few quotes recently for a bonnet respray with wings and bumper blend. Cheapest quote I got was £180 + VAT. The most expensive quote was £450 + VAT! It's definitely worth shopping around.
You would think so :S I've rang round every breakers yard in Northants. Not a sausage. Every mk2 ph2 clio they have has had a front end smash. I've been watching second hand OE bonnets on ebay for the last three weeks, all have gone for over £50 and they haven't been local. That's too much money...
Hi guys,
My bonnet is rotting from the inside and in need of replacement. Renault stealers have quoted me £180+VAT for a new OE bonnet. Been trying to source a second hand OE bonnet at a reasonable price with no success. On the flip side I've been quoted £50+VAT for a new pattern part bonnet...
As per title of thread. The bonnet on my ph2 172 is in a sorry state due to a combination of stone chips, cold weather and salt spray :dapprove: I'm gonna get it assessed for respray. However it may need complete replacement cos I believe it may be rusting from the inside. If I get one from a...
These are deep scratches in the middle of the disc. It looks rather unlikely to me that they are caused by the normal operation of the pads. I should also mention these are OE discs and pads.
Several months ago I notice that my rear discs were deeply scored, scratched, and very rusty. I presumed it was the pads that had worn down to the metal and were therefore damaging the discs. I replaced both discs and and pads on the rear. The deep scoring has now reappeared, but on my...
Yet another mpg thread lol. I only drive at 70 or less on the motorway because I can get about 42 mpg. People on this forum can accuse you of being a cheap ass for saving fuel and therefore criticise your decision to buy a 1*2 in the first place, but when it comes to motorway driving I just...
Definitely Kev. The K-Tec got sold to someone with partial deafness ;). I remember all your posts from a while back about the noise and embarracement surounding the K-Tec stealth - you echoed all my exact feelings about it. Based on that I thoroughly recommend a Yozza stealth for you - its just...
If you're looking for standard sound - Yozza stealth FTW. I have one and I absolutely love it. It's whisper quiet when you're cruising or tootling round town, so there's no need to feel embarrassed or wear a baseball cap ;). When you open the taps it has a beautiful rasp.
Gray is right. Mine always had a slight weep - by 'weep' I mean the selector shaft area would be damp but no oil would drip into the undertray. Then one day mine developed a proper dripping leak and I nearly lost all the oil in my box without realising . The only way to fix a proper leak is...
What's wrong with cable ties? I cable tied both mine a while ago cos dark black grease was leaking out of the sides of one and spaying on the insides of the wheel.
Point understood - But in engines with higher compression ratios which are designed to burn high octane fuels I presume that you get more efficient combustion due to ignition under higher compression, and therefore better overall efficiency in terms of energy released per litre of fuel? If you...
Seems a little odd this one - Most people on here report increases in fuel economy when using high octane fuels; they say that high octane fuel costs more but the extra cost is balanced by the increased MPG.
I've found quite the opposite. My normal journey to work and back is about 25 miles on...
Anyone tried these
Hankook Ventus S1 Evo K107
They're on BlackCircles at a fairly reasonable price, and listed a 'premium' whatever that means? Considering getting Uniroyal RainSport 2 at the moment cos I just can't justify spending £100 a corner on...
No-one has ever complained about the quality of your systems. However you maybe should considder editing the description of you products - quote from the K-Tec website regarding the KTR 172/cup Stealth Exhaust System Mk2 - "This new stainless steel cat back exhaust system features enlarged 2.5"...
Just got rid of my K-Tec stealth - thank God! And that was a standard stealth, not a supersport. The boom/drone on the motorway was sickening so I bet the supersport would be even more annoying. Despite what K-Tec say they do NOT deliver standard sound, so avoid like the plague if this is what...
I was similarly on an eco drive until you drove past. However the combination of boredom and seeing another CS sticker made me put my foot down ;) Unfortunately I wont be at FCS this weekend. I promised the missus I would spend a weekend with her away from anything to do with cars or motorsport...
Ditto mate. That Yaris was a pain in the arse. Were you on a drive from Northumberland to Portsmouth? That must cost you a fair bit at the speeds you were doing :rasp:
Cheers for the responses people.
So to conclude, my £30 spend on diagnostics at my local garage was not a wise decision. I took it to the garage to see if they could identify a throttle pedal error or something similar that was causing my car to go into limp mode - they found nothing. I could...
Does the cheap ebay one not allow you to clear the fault codes? - i'm pretty sure that's what it says in the description, that you can 'cancel' fault codes. The description for the cheap k-tec scanner says the same. Does 'cancel' not mean 'switch off' or 'reset' ?
I'm still finding it difficult...
A cheap scanner I found

I think its the same one they sell at K-Tec
I took my car to my local garage recently for diagnostics. They charged me £30 - they claim the £30 part covers the expensive cost of the diagnostic equipment they use - seems fair enough.
People on here talk about all kinds of different diagnostics setups ranging in price. From what i've been...
Just be out to do some more checks. The sensors are all secured and the contacts sprayed with WD40. Even sprayed some WD40 in the fusebox. Unfortunately same old sh*t :dapprove:
I did however notice that when the key is in the ON position (all the lights on the dash come on) but the engine not...
Anyone? Please :o Took back to the garage for diagnostics again today. Still no errors on the ECU. Emissions light is still on and the car still random decides to enter limp mode.
