Trophy Track Car

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
I'm putting off a few interior tasks until the inside is painted properly, but I can't get that conquered before Bedford.

next will probably be fitting the wheel studs, and I've just spoken to my welding mate to see if there is a chance of taking the car back over to him Monday to see if we can spend a little time sorting out the seat bars, I really want to get the seats a bit lower.
Started the car today and it had a mild misfire so ill be hopping on to that tomorrow aswell :(

So much easier to fit a wheel with aswell, no more trying to balance the wheel as you line up a bolt.
with a few different wheels and tyres, they will be getting change quite regularly and it's a pain trying to do them once, let alone time after time.

I was thinking the same when i spotted your clio pics on FB earlier.
how you keeping buddy, enjoying the car?

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
I think it was Oulton i first met you when I came up with the black clio and the infinity escort had the gearbox issues a week ahead of TA, fun times!!

Focus is okay, doesn't really get used so its up for sale for something else.
Black 182 is still on the driveway, although its seriously abused to/from work, rarely cleaned and abused by the dogs in the back daily!
Trophy hasn't been used yet, but hopefully this coming Saturday it will be used at Bedford... Time will tell how it gets on.

Yeh bought the Comp's off you

Ohh, what fancy? Older RS again?

Trophy looks like come along nicely , should be cracking on track!

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
Nah, not going backwards, the trophy is as far as I'm prepared to fettle with a car again, I can't do it so much anymore with my back issues, and I don't think I could have a MK1 again.
been looking at '08 plate 530D Sports as a family car and maybe trade the black 182 in for a 197 for Kim so she can have something a bit newer aswell.

havent really advertised the focus yet, so it will depend on what's available once i have money in my pocket again.

Same reason why had the clio really, sick modding car's and spending far too much money on them. After abit there's no enjoy meant. Also ford scene has gone boring and far too serious. RSOC gone to pot on forum

I think we both share similar views on the RSOC of late, it's certainly not what it was and its living in the past with some of its rules and regulations.I didn't renew my membership last year and I had been an RSOC member for aprox 14yrs.
I also stood down from my regional committee last year as I've given up with it all, not so much with the local guys as many are good mates, but I don't feel the love within the RS world like I used to.

It was the AGM this weekend, did senior Mr Atkins go?

I haven't renew'd either. Such same as quicker they relaise club based more round the internet/forum and not a AGM meeting the better.

I dont have same love for badge atm, sure come back. Just need good break away from it.

No he didnt sadly, he was going but was his 50th over weekend and ended up having family staying on sat night and all day sunday. Couldn't get out of it.

I haven't posted on here ever since I joined but after seeing this car yesterday I had to comment. I was at Bedford yesterday in my newly purchased M3 which I bought after getting completely bored of the Ford RS scene and have to say I had a really good day. The Beemer behave perfectly but I kept looking enviously at the track prepared Clios, they just look such a lot of fun. The Clio I looked at most of all was this one though, it really did look sensational and really stood out amongst all the other cars that were there, and there were some very expensive cars there. Well done!!

I love this car, it looked sensational at Bedford and was my favourite looking Clio there. Very jealous! :)

Cheers guys, I appreciate the responses and opinions.

it certainly wasn't a bad shake down for the car, I've come away with a little 'to do' list before it hits a track again, certainly a few thing that will help the car and me for future events.

i certainly wasn't badgered by any other clio's out there yesterday, but one or two in front of me did hold me up slightly on occasions, braking a good couple of hundred yards earlier than I was prepared to and carrying a lot less speed through the twisties.
hopefully it will be quicker (not more power, but in other elements) next time.

Another, better late than never update.
had a week off from the car after the Bedford trackday, but cracked on with a few bits again over the past few days, mainly removing the sound deadening, what a horrid task.

Followed by the heater box to remove all of the aircon parts, and then foud more sound deadening.... So that had to go aswell :)

Cheers Jonny.

unfortunatley, I'm the worlds worst person at taking pics and keeping on top of a resto thread, but here's a few more random pics of small progress over the past few weeks.

GRP panels picked up from Nick Cup

Standard seat bars in the process of being removed ready for the proper seat bars to give a better driving position and to loose a little weight.

Catches lined up and fettled into place for a final fitment position.

front bumper removed of all of the honey comb effect plastic behind the bumper and then a little alteration to the number plate recess.
And then fitted/lined up along with the bonnet.

tailgate marked out for the same catches to be fitted.

other than that, boot locks removed from the tailgate, along with the associated wiring through the tailgate and along the main loom back to the dash, more wiring fettling to be done later in the week.
GRP door cards dropped off to have the window switches moulded in neatly.

picking up a spare set of headlights and wiring loom goodies from Matt @ CodeRed during the week, relocation of the ECU inside the car and headlights going a satin black colour :)

Looking great Kelv. It's like a Trophy equivalent of mine.

What turned you off of the grp tailgate? That was a hug weight saving on mine.

You need to get in on the grp door group buy.

Len, I had dissected the internals of the tailgate literally the day before I secured the panels from Nick, initially i only wanted the bonnet but as Nick wasn't happy to split the panels I snapped them both up while I considered what to do with my tailgate.
i think of I hadn't just gutted the tailgate I'd have sold the factory one one and gone for the GRP.

i do like the idea of the doors, but having just come out of hospital today and 2 weeks ahead booked on unpaid leave I do need to watch the pennies short term, if the possibility pops up to still grab a set a couple of months down the line then I will go for them :)

Understandable Buddy.

A tidy weight saving is to swap the Trophy spoiler for a Dynamique spec jobbie. There is 2-3kg there and a couple oh hundred notes as well.

Nipped down to the unit today to drop the focus off for a mate of mine to give it a big Bufty for me.
with a little time on my hands and boredom creeping in from being stuck indoors for a few days, I took on the simple task of bolting the rear aero catches in to place and adjusting the pins to suit :)

Just read the whole thread.

Best trophy I have seen. Just a pure drivers car. Amazing look forward to more updates!!!

Good build this :)

how much of a pain in the arse was it removing the origional seat mounting points?

we are about to start fitting our new seats and not sure to make something to fit with standard mounting points or start again as you have??
