Started to mod my Clio.

  Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique +
I ordered a set of OZ Super Turismo GT's from Halfords yesterday, got the surprise of my life as they were delivered today! I picked them up, nipped over to Kwik Fit to get a nice set of Conti Sport Contacts put on them, and now they are proudly sitting on my car. OMG, they looks the bizz. I will post pics tomorrow after my visiotrs have been and gone. Can't post any yet as I haven't taken any, was too busy giving her a test drive. Tee hee hee ;) :D :D

Due to partner pressure (Hubby) I just nipped downstairs and took this pic. lol

What do you think?

Tee hee. I was waiting for the 'lowering' comments. I was at one point flatly refusing to lower her, but, if she still looks abit high after the new body kit I will consider it, and will be asking for advice as to what to get. I really do have to consider the speead ramps around our way though, don't want to ground her. ;)

Easy solution....dont bother with a kit n get some FK coilovers on there...money saver and you can drop it 80mm..

  Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique +
Na, not too keen on coilovers, just considering a decent suspension kit, nothing to harsh though, gotta take my 70+ Dad out in it abit, so can't be too stiff or too low. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

I have just recieved an e-mail from Longlife exhausts. They can do me a 'stealth' stainless steel system for £299, but recommend I have the body kit fitted first so they can position the tailpipe accordingly.

So, will order body kit on monday :D Im getting so excited now. Lmao

Wheels look sweet, SuperT's are one of my favourite sets of wheels.

Definately make lowering the next thing on the agenda.

Thanks Blue, I really love them too. I am definitely 'considering' lowering, I'll just have to see how the body kit works out first, don't want to make her too low and ground her on the darn speed ramps. That would seriously pee me right off! lol.

Looks good, but a bodykit without lowering will look strange. If you're happy to spend all that cash on wheels, bodykits and also fitting/spraying costs, then at least shell out a couple hundred on getting some springs fitted. :)

If your not keen on lowering, same i wasnt when i first got my car, then get some eibach pro's which on your car will give a 30mm drop and make the wheels just sit in the arces nicer. As for body kits, which one are you getting? I'm not a fan of heavily kitted cars, but by the sounds of it neither are you.

I'd agree with some of the others comments, the money will be better spent on a decent suspension kit. Fitting a bodykit will only emphasise the arch gap even more. IMO modding should go in the order suspension then wheels and then, if you really must, bodykit. If you are going to do any mods that require paint I'd be inclined the do some colourcoding and get some of the renault sideskirts, all the others look over the top to me.

Thanks for all your comments guys. I am inclined to agree at this point about the lowering, so will soon be asking about the best kit to get (without coilovers). I am fortunate as money is not a problem, so I won't be skimping. I will definitely be 'colour coding'. This will happen at the same time the body kit will be fitted. I can't remember what the body kit is called, but it will not be a case of removing bumpers, just a case of adding 'small' biits to the bottom of the original bumpers, subtle but hopefully smart. I seriously don't want her looking like a monster. lol

Debz if you really have your heart set on a bodykit there is one renault do that is pretty rare and isnt OTT. I've only seen it on a couple of cars (on the net, never seen one on the road) and with it being made by renault rather than some shitty fibreglass effort you normally see sold everywhere it will be a better quality and fit. MS designs also do a fairly subtle kit too IIRC.

nothing too harsh......thats exactlly why you want coilys then.

Good wheels and good choice size-wise.....you don't want your car looking like a chav wagon with 20s on or some s**t like that.

Thanks for all the advice guys, it really is appreciated.

ozzyo99; I do know what you mean about attratcing attention ( I have read what has happened to scott182. Thieving b******s!) so I have decide before I go any further with my mods I am going to go and get a 'serious' alarm fitted. We are fortunate to have an excellent Stereo/Alarm specialist just 5 miles from us, they may be a 'tad' expensive, but I generally find you get what you pay for, and as I don't want my car nicked, I am prepared for the costs.

Thanks again for all your advice folks, please keep them coming as I am 'new' to this modding lark and will appreciate all the comments and advice I can get.

Cheers! :D

Yep...bodykits are definately no go

I do seriously appreciate peoples opinions on body kits. I will get Hubby to look up the one I intend to get and post pics of it here later. ;)

At the end of the day it's your car so do whatever makes you happy and makes you enjoy the car more.

There are obviously different kits....some look crap and others are more subtle:D

neil you forgot to say - and subtle is the way forward.. lol

Of course...it goes without saying! lol

Love those wheels though....I would like some but I just know I'd end up kerbing them so I'm just going to leave the boggo ones on.

Forget the pictures of it, they are all horrible - fullstop.

Thinking 18 months in advance when you're thoroughly bored of your car and want something else, bodykits are something which ultimately reduces the realistic selling price of your car. The only people than like bodykits are chavs under the age of 20, so theres your target audience. Not many chavs under 20 have the money you'll be wanting for the car, and consequently the price drops.

The other point is people don't want pre-modified cars, unless its things they can alter easily (wheels, suspension) as like moving into a new house, you want to give it your own stamp.

By all means get your bodykit, im sure you'll like it. But the point im making is only a select audience do like them, for that reason they are harder to sell, and you get branded a chav too.

Your car, your call. But listen to advice from the majority imo.
