So, purchased this from K-Tec recently.

The build quality of the piping and fitment was really pretty good and help removed a lot of OEM airbox items and associated piping. No instructions came with it, but it's a few clips and a change in bracket. Hardly rocket science. The piping is actually a bit too long and will need a few inches removing - but I'll do that at some point in the near future.
Once fitted - even a little dab of the throttle sounded more 'gaspy' but nothing silly. Took it out for a drive and pootled about waiting to get the engine warm - no real difference in noise, but noticed that the acceleration was more smooth. That could have been a slight placebo effect, or more likely - the ITG panel filter previously fitted, hadn't been cleaned for a while.
Regardless - when accelerating harder, the noise was definitely louder. Significantly so. I had a Pipercross induction kit years ago fitted to my Punto GT and it sounded nothing like this. Yet push on and the sound gets really quite addictive in the most wonderfully chavvy/ASBO kind of way. Keeping the throttle planted from 4.5k upwards and it takes on a completely different V-TEC'ish scream. Really childish, but I love it - more so that you have control of when it makes a racket.
However..... The same build quality cannot be said of the Pipercross foam section, which is terrible. There is no metal or hard plastic collar on it to connect to the metal pipe. When tightened (even lightly) with the clip around it - the foam itself gets sandwiched between two hard, metal layers. The outcome to me anyway was pretty obvious - and within a week this had happened. The first pic being with the clip in situ and the next, once I had slackened it off to reveal the damage beneath it.
I've contacted both K-Tec and Pipercross about this. It's much more of a Pipercross problem as even if they sent me a warranty replacement, the result would be the same within a very short space of time.
I'll add updates to this as and when I get them if people are interested, but for now, I'm likely to put the OEM airbox back on to remove the risk of any foam parts being ingested by the engine.
