Just did a 3:15.658, with a couple of little mistakes.

The focus is actually really fun to drive at Monte Carlo! Really quite easy to balance in the snow, and bloody quick on the tarmac.

I'll give this a go and over the weekend but I'm not sure how close I'll get to your times!

It's unfair because the PC lot have had much more practice :tongueclosed:

I'm at 3:17:092 at the moment.
Might have taken me a 'few' goes
I think I need to get quicker to find more time though. That was a clean run so I just need to carry more speed.

This game is so frustrating. Take a corner a tad too fast, or go over a crest a tad to one side can just wipe out a good run.

Having said that, it's so rewarding when you do smash a stage with next to no faults.

I'm kind of in the middle at the moment. I can be having a fantastic section where it looks perfect (to me) and then in the next one I'll cut a corner slightly, get caught in a ditch and then mess up.

Currently I'm using the 2001 Focus as its a bit more forgiving, just doing two stage rallies to practice before starting a championship.

It's no easier in real life!

First rally on Elite championship at Monte Carlo, and i came a surprising 3rd overall. Even though the Quattro is quite a big car,it got around the tight corners really well, and it takes hairpins so much better than the Renault 5. It bodes well for the rest of the championship.

The below video was my ONLY green sector of the whole rally - you can see me almost lose it on 2 wheels right before the checkpoint hehe!

Been playing this at a pals house recently as I'm too stingy to buy it outright. Game is really good, but I also hate it. For the rally stages, can absolutely smash one course then the next completely total my car, messing up the entire rally time-wise. The rally cross events are fun, you can really push the cars, and became easier when I realised you had to shorten all your gear ratios to get a 'competitive' start.
Will probably buy once it comes down in price, it's an enjoyable but challenging game!

I only just picked this up on Steam. What a corker this game is, brutal but awesome

Got this on xbox yesterday. Played it a little on PC while it was in beta as my housemate has it and a G27.
This final release is definitely easier, and by that I mean possible. Took a bit of tweaking with the settings to get the wheel set up right but it's great now, the 1-1 mapping of steering input made it un-drivable initially. Incredibly good fun though, even if it is the most frustrating game I've played in a long while.

I never actually played Project, mainly because I heard about what a pain in the arse kind of game it was!

Big fan of previous Dirt games though, namely the second one which I thought was excellent... always loved rally games. V-Rally was the one back in the days for me :D

Played Dirt Rally at a show for a few minutes and kept crashing all over the shop but hoping I'd improve with time lol.

Why are people talking about getting frustrated....both games have great learning curves i enjoy. Yes,the challenge is massive in Dirt Rally, you hardly ever win a rally, but i love the fact of pushing myself that extra bit and that disaster is just a centimetre away. Much more rewarding than the XP rubbish of GT,Forza imo.

Ive actually just sneaked into Masters level on the championship without actually winning a rally hehe, but just being consistent and coming 3rd to get promoted.

The difference between Dirt Rally and Project Cars is that in DR you don't mind not winning. PC is just easy enough that you feel you should always win, and when you do make a mistake you get very frustrated since you lose a lot of places. On Dirt you can still finish a fair bit off pace and be left in a decent position.

i don't like racing the AI on project cars because the season races are too short and it becomes an exercise in sliding the difficulty slider along until it's right which is a PITA
i like doing 10 lap online races though where you know the cars are all fairly even - unlike for example, Forza or GT where people have modded cars that i don't have time to work out how to create.

dirt rally i have not touched online at all, weirdly the timing is just about right so crack on with career for me. even if you spin the car you can still be in contention to progress so they have done well there

Im treating the Rally Cross segment as a totally different game, but ive got to say,its providing some of the most intense, close racing ive had on console. Anyone agree?

Im on Professional level now,and its hard to get in the top 3 in the semi, never mind the final - but im loving the challenge. I spent about an hour in the lyddon hill semi to try and get 3rd,and i finally did it. I love working out the strategy of the AI,which ones take the joker early, and sometimes you have to just wait for them to make a mistake or crash to get though.

Finally got round to getting this. Just had a few blasts in the MINI... hard old job! Any tips? Completely different to the last racing game I was playing which was Need for Speed!
