A Renaultsport specialist doesn't have a Clio Renaultsport, and won't be getting one? For real?

I was excited about to going to the 'specialist' in Glasgow, they only had the 200T parked on a stupid slope and that was it no other RS anywhere, next most exciting thing was a Twizy hidden round the back.

Little update. The grumpy guy I spoke to yesterday wasn't there and another salesman said there's a demo car on its way and I'll be the first customer to test drive it.

Very happy with their customer service today even if he did say it was 'rapid and scary fast'

Ha. Really.

I think anyone who fancied buying one of these has lost all interest by now and gone for a Fiesta ST.

Girlfriends uncle is in Sales at forward, they don't have a demonstrator, people have come in and just bought them! Ford has nothing to prove really, but Renault does.

Arnold Clark Grangemouth have no demo car planned, told me if I was seriously interested they could possibly source a 1.2 GT for me to test. told me its much the same but doesn't have launch control so wont do the 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds like the RS......

my mate went into Arnold Clark Stirling to have a look at the yellow 200EDC they have, again no demo car in but atleast they had a showroom model, messed him about not willing to enter into any deal, just said window price and only window price (which was the book price anyway!!) he thanked them for their time and went to Macrae and dick ford and ordered a Fiesta ST!

I test drove one in Renault Enfield (They have a LY demo - also London West do too) and whilst I liked the car there was absolutely no negotiation on price. Was looking at almost 400 quid a month on PCP! Sales guy said Renault don't feel they need to discount their vehicles anymore.

They need to get some offers going - I remember some good ones on the 200. If one came up I'd be temped but not with the figures as they stand.

The fact that Mark's Fiesta ST thread is getting nearly 40% more page hits at the moment than this thread, on a website dedicated to Clio is extremely worrying!

We can only hope that Renault will see the error of their ways...
Hopefully they do something good with the next gen Twingo as the Clio has grown far too large for me personally.

There's a dual carriage way bang outside the site so you should have done more than 30!

Sorry, should have specified - I went to Enfield over the weekend as I was told London West's demo car was away for the weekend. Was just wondering if coming to london west would mean actually seeing what the car was capable of.

Well the Twingo is now pretty much the size the Clio used to be, the Clio is now pretty much the size the Megane used to be, and the Megane is the size of a schoolbus.

Exactly, all new cars are bigger than their names! All I want is a light, quick, fun car. I don't care about fake engine sounds and tv monitors.
doesn't the current Twingo share lots of parts with the 1*2's anyway?

Same chassis I believe as the MK2 Clio's.

Shares components with the Renault 5! Twingo with a cammed 1*2 engine

Ignoring the price, what I really don't get is that they've been quite controversial with all the changes from the general 3dr NA Manual formula, which may or may not work,... but they aren't getting bums on seats to test drive and then give the hard sell.

Do they actually want to sell any? :S

On a rather less tunnel visioned note, the non RS Clio seems to be selling quite well. Certainly in the areas that I frequent.

They have a white cup packed 200T BUT it has always been kept 'out the back'. No offer of a test drive here either.

Called about 1 1/2 ago James (renaultsport salesman ) not in Thursdays!

Seen the 200t out back reasons for no demo drives are that it's a car from Renault for the showroom and they not allowed to put it on the road.

Ok so why's it not in the show room and out the back, awaiting prep to move into showroom. (Something not quite right there've think)

So await phone call tomorrow for more info.

Well long and short of this post is this

Had a GW Clio 200T EDC Lux on order for 5 weeks and was told by the dealer that i may not arrive till xmas as they are being built to order and also the factory is on shutdown at the moment

This created me an issue as i have sold my car last week and im in the last few days of ownership

I pretty much rang every dealer in the uk searching for a car the same spec that was physically in stock. I spoke to that many people i lost count and my head was turned to a pot noodle

Just as i was about the give up hope i spoke to a dealer who was happy to let me know that the colour and spec i wanted was down to the last 3 in the uk

So a phone call was made to Smiths of Peterborough and a deal was done. They matched what i was offered locally and was very hepfull

I went to see the car in the flesh today and my word i was impressed. Even the ever so cautious Emma was shocked on how well it wore the Glacier White (although i think she was more taken by the red seat belts)

Had another drive (a propper drive) and i was hooked again. genuinely didn't want to get out.

I could have had a Fiesta ST for less money but in fairness i didn't want another one. ive had 12 Fiestas in the past (7 of which ST) and didnt want anther ford. nothing against them just wanted something 'different'

I could have the car within the next 3 days but im waiting for the plate change (although i have just bought a great plate to go on it)

People who moan about the shift speeds are obviously comparing it to 458 Ferrari's or a MP4-12 McLaren as i found the shift speeds were instant

Parps on up-shift are great and the torque from 2000rpm is wicket. I love the induction noise too

Im looking forward to lower road tax and higher mpg. WIN!
