90's modifying scene, what were we thinking????

A local guy spent about 20k on a 106 gti.

A lad like that round our with an Impreza not too long ago. Said to of put more than 100k into it. Had a £50 note lacquered into the back bumper with its only money across it.

Just realised searching "show car" in eBay works very well. Seems even a 2004 clio couldn't escape abuse. Was probably modified a few years after being made too. Worrying.
The descriptions on these kind of cars are often as entertaining as the pictures. I like the 106s "balked Windows "!!

Not quite 90's, this was early in the year 2000 and as close to Max Power as I ever got. Thankfully my taste improved after this car (well I like to think so)
17" wheels, colour coded bumpers and door handles, noisy stainless exhaust, lexus lights, lowered 30mm and 3 cylinder, 1.0 12v power! ha ha ha ha

Absolute LOL at that Astra.

COST OVER £20,000 TO GET TO THIS SPEC !

You could have bought any number of decent cars for that money. M3, Focus RS, Megane 250, etc etc. Instead you have emptied a night club's worth of speakers and amps into the back of an Astra. Top work.

This stuff went on in the 80s as well, I mainly recall x-packed Mk2 Escorts Mk2/3 Capris and Mk1 Fiestas, often with disastrous results. e.g.
