Thought I'd share....

Yea a good time Andrew, god yea remember that one Dave.

I was well off pace that day, also 5 seconds slower than my best time. I seem to remember quali was a damp track. Its funny as Cadwell is my fav circuit but was out of my comfort zone racing there, strange.

Blimey, that's better to see! I must have been careful on the track day!

To be fair, a lot of slower traffic :)

A great first weekend of the racing season for the Tricolore Trophy team :)

Started pretty good for me, as I got through scrutinering!

A fair bit of expert help from @Ant_Smiggy keeping me going. The mention of me being the driver, so no need to get my hands dirty, made my day :)

qualifying was awful! My first time on track in the wet. It wasn't throwing it down, but would be classed as 'wet' on Top Gear! Finished with lap times just over 2.03, which was well of the pace. Our friend @Russ Rallye came out for a couple of laps and smashed it much faster! To be honest, I didn't really enjoy it. I need more practice in the wet!

So, first race. Nervous as hell! It had dried up, but didn't make the butterflies go away!

Absolutely dreadful start! Reved the balls off it in first, then quickly slipped it in to 4th! Driver error completely! Finally got going and the car was flying. Much quicker than I'd expected, to be honest. Passed a few on the first long corner, and a couple more after the first hairpin. The car was flying! Going up the first bit of a hill, and into a long right, it all felt a bit wrong. Started loosing the back end, then ended up spinning! Expert driving from @Tony Hunter saved a smash (thanks Tony), so got through it clean.

Carried on for a couple more corners, but could tell everything had gone wrong. Pulled off at the first Pits exit.

If you go to about 6.00 minutes on this video, you can see it!

On inspection, the car had blown a water pipe. From removing the heater system, the water pipe had been blocked off, and the plug had given in! With help from the crew and other drivers, we got to borrow a new pipe and a straight link, to redirect the water through another pipe, to avoid having a plug!

Worked a treat :)

Second race was on!

Started back of the grid, in 27th. Actually liked the idea of starting from the back, made for a lot of fun :)

We race with Hyundia Coupe's, who are all good guys, so I had to work my way through a few of them, and some of the other Trophy cars.

Had a great race and ended in 12th! Loved it! Unfortunately I didn't have my camera, so no footage to show. The car run really well. Very impressed with how good it was. My best lap time was 1.41. The race leaders got down to 1.34, so a way off the pace, but my pace should have got me down to around 6th, which would have been a dream!

I think the majority of change needs to come from me, rather than the car. I need more track time. There were loads of points I could have done better, with a little more experience.

I'm also going to look at tyres and suspention next.

Bring on Brands Hatch! 16th of May, should anyone be interested

Looks great. I'm going to have to get sorted and give this racing thing a go next year if I can! Although I didn't think there'd be much handbrake action going on!

Yes, Brands on the 16th of May.

Matt, come along and see us there, we are a friendly bunch!

I'm on a stag weekend so can't make brands, which is a shame as it's close to my parents. I have the Silverstone and Snetterton weekends noted in the calendar though in a hope of coming along.

Was a shame about the abysmal weather for qually wasn't pleasant at all! And considering the biblical weather on t he friday's days testing it was unfortunate and typical English weather at its finest! unpredictable and typically s**t!!

Then to top it off the pesky pipe blowing from a incorrect blocking! We got there in the end and I enjoyed meeting and picking the brains of most you about your lovely cars! Friendly bunch I really enjoyed it! I look forward to trying do a few rounds myself next year! Definitely the series and the atmosphere i'm looking for.

Car looked fantastic as always Andrew will be perfect with a few future upgrades

If you guys are down at brands on the 16th I might pop along as it's only ten mins from me. Happy to lend a mechanical hand if you need one at all as well.

A bit of work planned. I always felt the cage had a few weak points, so I'm going to add some extra strength to it. Especially after seeing a Clio crash at Cadwell, where the cage (and Hans) saved the chap from a lot of pain!

I'm changing the side frame to be a cross, rather than just a bolt on bar. And I'm also going to add a front bar, which it currently doesn't have.

Difficulty with the front bar, is that it'll go straight in front of the clocks, so need to move stuff around. I have bought a Dash2 though, so will probably do away with all the original ones, and find a place to fit it, once the cage is changed.

Also looking at suspension. I'd imagine my choice will get a few negative comments, but a mixture of money and lack of knowledge has has taken me to the point of purchase!

I've bought a Role Centre Kit off James Ashton (which I think is agreed to be spot on), but am running quickly out of cash, so haven't gone for the recommended dampers, AST 5200, as the whole lot is just too much money! I've gone for GAZ Gold Coilovers, as they look to have a similar amount of adjustment, and will allow my car to be lowered more.

The current set up, is on EVO coilovers. Rear have damper adjustment, but the front are fixed. I have been told that they are designed for Rally, rather than track, which would explain the amount of ride in them. I have got them as low as they can go, but are still a good 30mm higher than any other the other cars I race against.

Hopefully have it all sorted for Brands Hatch on the 16th of May!

Nice one Andrew, are you doing a test day before at Brands? (£180 2x30min sessions). Seems you will have to get used to your new set up again, I was the same last season, every race I ran a more or less different set up so always chasing arounds settings and set up etc.

Roll centre kit looks like a great bit of kit, I think I am one of the few clios not running it now 😞

GAZ coilovers had a bit a bad reputation in the past on here but I think they are better now.

Yes, been robbed for the afternoon session! I've never been to Brands before, so would want to go before race, even if the set up hadn't changed!

I have never driven Brands before either and was considering doing the test day or just test afternoon myself. But £180 for 2x30min sessions! That's a bit steep.

I will have to learn it in quali. It's a short track so shouldn't be to difficult, I hope....

Ant, spot on pictures!

Tony, you were awesome, mate :)

Car photos well mate! Its a looker haha!!

EVO coilovers

Yours are AVO's Andrew unless you was referring to the sub brand EVO? Which is confusing lol

and rest assured GAZ ghave certainly amped up there game from recent criticism and the GOLDS havent had as much bad rep unilke the GHA's which WAS renowend for rusting due to the cheap zinc plating (noe nickle), the cutsomer service from GAZ is second to none and WEEKSY always looks after you too.
