T4RKO 172 Cup

How does the boss cancel the indicators btw with no tabs?

I have been out for a good drive and used the indicators numerous times and the indicators definitely cancel themselves. I don't think it's the tabs on the boss that do it but the Mechanism behind the boss there the wires connect?

I have been out on the late shift again!
Spent some time tidying up the rear wiring. Did the drivers side but couldn't be bothered with the hassle of the passenger side this time of night!

I am going to drill a hole and gromet if I ever get rear cards.

Then I removed the aerial as I am removing the stereo. There seemed to be a lot of material involved just for the aerial!

You can tell the roof has been resprayed now I have removed the antenna. I need to seal it properly too.

Then started on the stereo and alarm wiring:

It was too late and too cold to take on the scuttle tonight to get to the Alarm sounder. Will perhaps try that tomorrow.

Bloody hell yeah that roof respray is terrible!

I'd wrap it too personally, would look good

Yeah going to wrap it Black I think. Not going to do anything about the inside as you would still see the marks but the outside would look good in a vinyl.

A few photos as it stands at the moment:

If I had the money I would do the following to the exterior:

Refurb the wheels
New bumper without the cut out
Remove fog lights and fit brake ducting
Fill Aerial hole in roof and vinyl wrap roof and spoiler black.

Interior I would like to cut off all the brackets that aren't required, reroute the passenger side cables and then clean and spray it.

I will take the seats out one day and remove the front carpet etc.

Don't know what to do with all this:

Lol. It seems a shame to take it all to the Tip but don't know if it's worth selling or how much for.

And the reason for that is.....

15" Speedline Comp 2

I must admit I liked the Turinis and they actually look better than the Speedlines but I wanted 15" for the price of tyres and weight so not that bothered by the looks.

Love Comp 2's just a shame they're not 7" wide. Used to have a set of 16's on a 306 rallye years ago
Russ

They are a lower offset than the Turinis but because they are 6.5" wide they sit further in by a couple of mm. Not a bad width for a 195 tyre though.

My 1.2 Pro Race are 7" and I suspect I will run 195 on these also.

Another late shift. Much milder out there tonight. Got myself set up.

Two were considerably easier to get out than the others.

Then out with what I could get to.

Also some evidence it has had a new widescreen as part of what ever repairs were carried out:

Enjoying reading through this thread and others. I've put a deposit down on a 172 cup which is going to be a track project for me. Cannot wait to get my hands on it. Got a little work to finish on the house then the Clio will be getting ripped out and some cash spent on some toys for it. Well done so far, might have some questions for you soon.

No work on the Clio today as I as busy with the chicken, goats and obviously taking down the Christmas tree and decorations.

I did get a few photos of the car with the new wheels in the daylight though:

Thanks. Hopefully we can work things out together as I am learning a lot from the forum as I go and have plenty of questions myself.

New exhaust arrived today.
All looks great quality and well made. The only thing not quite right was the website shows a slash cut pipe, the photos show a slash cut, the videos show a slash cut but what arrived was a straight cut pipe. Not to worry. Straight cut looks more race car!

Really like that side shot up the page. Looks great. Silver calipers would really complete the side profile.

Everything seems to be done in a rush when I have a spare hour hence why most action happens late at night. One day I would like to sit down and spend a few hours tidying it up. The calipers are silver but they could all do with a clean, repaint, braided lines, race fluid, new HC discs and some nice pads.

Lol! Did you actually manage to get them at the price stated on that website?!
Haha you noticed and put two and two together then? Lol
I had the thread removed as I realised it was a bad move. When I spoke to Top Gear the next morning they said they had about 12 orders that evening for the wheels. Turns out they don't set the stock and prices and it is automatic pricing done by the supplier. They said they couldn't possibly do the wheels for the £170 on the website but as a once of offer they would do me a deal. I changed my order slightly as I had ordered two sets at that price but couldn't justify two sets at the actual deal price. They were still £100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find them but perhaps not enough of a deal for others to buy them just for the sake of it unless they were actually in a market for a set.

Haha yeah was just looking at your thread and remembered it was you who put up the thread about the wheels too. I'd have felt so sorry for those guys if the thread had stayed up all night!
Tbf though I ordered a set as well lol. They phoned me the next morning so probably offered us all the same deal (£300ish I think they said they could give me them for) which was pretty reasonable of them. I just cancelled the order though, had absolutely no need for them at all really.

Yeah that's the deal. I got some tyres on them too. Actually road tyres so it's likely they will end up being the road wheels and the Comp 2's Will be the track wheels. These Comp 2's came about out of the blue so wasn't planning on them so my plans got flipped upside down a bit.

Random post but i've just read that the tabs on the back of the boss are apparently for the steering angle sensor! Wonder why yours isn't playing up! Maybe because its a cup?

And Tracking. Which was miles out! The steering wheel was at 45 degrees when firing straight. Also the camber was miles out too.

A bit of heat to the track rod ends:

This is my new Stereo:

It is too loud in the car for in ear headphones so I gave up and just put ear plugs in.

I measured the sound levels at cruise from inside the cabin at a steady 70mph and its averaging 98dB

On a positive note it was very good on fuel! The computer is either a big fat porkey pie teller or it's very economical:

I have been doing a few lists of what I need to buy, what I need to do and what tools I will need.

Firstly I would like to discuss what I NEED to be able to pass MSA checks for circuit racing

At the moment that list is as follows:

Fire Extinguisher Kit
Electrical Cut off Kit
In Date Harnesses
Bucket seat (doesn't need to be in date)
Full Roll cage meeting MSA standards

Unless I drive to the race I need to remove the steering lock.

Anything else obvious I have missed?

And does the seat have to be FIA approved?

I think there is less of the sticky stuff which is good as it means less time with the heat gun and scraper! Just a few bits to take off in the rear quarters and a few tiny bits off the rear floor. I think the 172 and 182 have more of this stuck under the carpets in the front?

  172
Not sure. Just coming from a saxo and 106's there seems to be a lot of the stuff. That yellowey foam stuff is only behind the dash on a 106 for example. I can imagine a fully stripped 172 flys!

I still have more stripping to do. A couple of grams to go from the interior when I tidy things up and cut off all the redundant brackets. When I have a roll cage I will cut away some of the material from inside the door and make light weight door cards and also strip some metal from the hatch back door.
The slam panel will have to be removed to fit the throttle bodies so that also will save weight.
I also still have some more wiring to remove.
Then there are Poly windows, smaller battery and racing seat which should take it down more.
