should i be beating a newer shape type r?

  clio 172 ph2
raced a type r last night and could not pull away from it! raced it 3 times from a set of traffic lights from stop and there was nothing in it for a good quarter of a mile (till road was running out lol) .
the type r had the driver and a passenger in it and i think it was standard.
i was myself and i have a decat and full system, pannel filter, fastchip remap with launch controll, rs lower inlet and air con removed. should i be doing better than that or is that good?? ive just thought my car is not running 100% for a while now and have some kind of sensor issue that im trying to get to the bottom of. or is it all in my head lol!

Two very evenly matched cars but the Civic should just see you off from 120 onwards as the F4R will be out of puff where as the K20 will still be on V-Tec yo!

Really comes down to driver ability though

Lolz My old CTR FN2 did beat a clio 182 but only just, will ultimately depend on clutch control, tyres, condition of your lump, how much fuel you have in the car, gear use, all this stupid tedious stuff. but like you said there was nothing in it, as said above once you hit high speeds the Civic will pull away, has much more tourque and another gear.

What speeds do you reckon you were getting up to before you had to brake?

Personally I reckon you should have smoked him. Ever thought of some driver training, I'm sure there are some schools out there that specialise in urban driving skills - standing starts being their USP.

Just to make you feel better I out dragged one in my five door Toyota Corolla T sport too. OK car till you meet a corner...

I feel like i've gone back in time.

Are you sure the Civic driver even noticed you? I get the feeling half these "races" aren't really races...

Very similar performance as standard.

If you arent sure if your car is healthy or not though rather than chav'ing around the streets trying to test it against other idiots why not just put it on a set of rollers?

Lets all breathe a sigh of relief that neither of you bell ends killed an innocent pedestrian or motorist with your moronic street racing.

Want to race? Book a track day numb nuts.

Just goes to show what I know about track days! lol

Be honest though, does a bit of racing happen to occur on occasions?

Racing implies really trying to keep in front of the other person or cutting in at the last minute to overtake going into a bend etc, that certainly shouldnt happen as the rules very explicitly forbid it although very occasionally does do so, but in terms of coming out of a bend and knowing which car is faster, that happens all the time as you obviously both go full throttle.

Like here for example, im not racing this M3, we are both giving each other plenty of room on the track and being courteous, but there is NO doubt which is the faster car!

The moment people start "racing"on trackdays is the moment that cars get damaged and most people are keen to avoid that.

vtec is for gays anyway ;)

Is there something about being homosexual then that particularly lends people to really appreciate good engineering and in particular a much wider spread of torque?

Cause TBH I feel all those things and yet dont find myself attracted to men at all, so im unsure you are correct with your assumption.

Would be good to see you there mate, although Tony Hunter is the one you want to be getting to jump in and teach you, he's far far better than I ever will be.

Im better at building them than driving them really, lol.

I'm basically neck & neck in my 200 against the previous shape EP3.

Really not keen on the rocket shaped Civic.

Slightly less power than him, quite a bit more torque than him, and most importantly a massive weight difference, thats what makes clios quick even when they only have a few hundred bhp.

What BHP and weight does your clio have in that clip? I've been tempted recently to sell the megane and turbo a clio...
