  need BRAKES? PM me
Some shiney new Brembo discs are on enroute Jamie ;)

I could have sourced the Ferodo pads aswel mate!

Keep up the good work. :approve:

  JDM Dc2
New discs and pads arrived...

so, old DS2500 pads, lol -

IMG_3296.jpg

and the nearside disc from where the 2 pads are down to metal came from, 2 cracks -

IMG_3297.jpg

the offside disc wasnt cracked at all, dont understand how the nearside is braking more than the offside... down to the bleeding maybe?.. as they didnt unevenly wear last time/last year when i changed them...

new Brembo HC discs and this time Ferodo DS300 pads fitted -

IMG_3295.jpg

brakes are mega now altho they need bleeding as its still pulling to the left/nearside and i dont want that uneven wear again, so just going to see how it is after re-bleeding

  JDM Dc2
bled the brakes up and the car was pulling to the left front slightly/sign of why the old left front brakes were more worn than the offside, so i got new refurbed calipers 2 weeks ago, then found out they were wrong, one was meant for a solid disc and both i couldnt fit the retaining springs which grab the carrier and caliper together, so after alot of going back and too to Andrew Page last week i finally got these on friday, i planned on going Santa POD for RWYB on saturday but i was kinda pissed off and it was forecast 50/50 rain/sun for saturday so didnt fancy the 6hr round trip when there wasnt good weather guarenteed (i know this is the UK and we're never guarenteed good weather but still)...

so today ive just fitted them -

carriers and pads fitted -

IMG_3300_zpsaae620d3.jpg

and fitted -

IMG_3304_zps4027438f.jpg

so finallly have the correct calipers both fitted and waiting for a mate to come round and help me bleed them up!

also got 8 longer wheel bolts for the fronts off ebay the other day -

new 35mm long wheel bolt vs old -

IMG_3303_zps0f162e1e.jpg

reason getting these is i dont trust standard length wheels bolts with 5mm spacers on track, i used to use 3mm spacers but as you can see above on the shocks where its shiny my tyres have been rubbing on track so just got the longer bolts for piece of mind

  JDM Dc2
brakes bled up and tested properly... they're savage now, crap before they've got abit of heat in them but miles better than ds2500's when upto temp!

also gave the car a quick wash since anglesey!

  JDM Dc2
today i gave it its final wash of the year -

IMG_3316_zps4a218b6d.jpg

IMG_3315_zpsf9a55d39.jpg

decided to take it off the road till march, use the money on upgrading my van rather than insurance and tax on a car i'l hardly ever drive and not doing trackdays anytime soon, plus keep it out the bad weather for the winter as its not getting any younger haha

  JDM Dc2
was close to seriously thinking of breaking this the other day then... i thought id start it up, first turn of the key after not touching it for nearly a month.

drove it round the block, really wanted to take it onto some national speed limit roads to kick its head in tho, miss the noise, just a 30mph pootle around my estate wasnt enough :(

been so tempted to book a trackday tho and ask my mate to tow it there but thought i best not because the plan worked... with the money id save on this being off the road ive put it towards a newer van and got myself a new shape transit in silver which i won on ebay and was only local to collect too, 110bhp model too not 85bhp like my old one haha

  JDM Dc2
Lol. More than tempted, I'd have 100% done it if it wasn't a case of having to do it on my own. Jamie was the 1st person I asked but it seems he's letting his reputation as the NW's biggest her0 slip :(

tbf if it was a february or march winter trackday at that price then yeh defo cos itd after christmas and we'd see the weather getting better, but this weekends too soon and that price is too steep imo

sorry for letting the team down jon, iirc you were a close second, youd be well n truely uncatchable now if the hero league was still going haha

H'actuallllly Mark was 2nd ;)

Give us a shout the next time you're doing Oulton and I'll definitely do it providing work doesn't get in the way.

I'm still hopeful on going down Jon, if you want to come and laugh at me attempting to go sideways. Some of the NW lads are talking about coming around dinner time anyway, so it should be a laugh.. hopefully it won't rain all day, for the sake of you lot! Lol

daym haha, will do, defo doing it around march time when the cars back on the road, probs mid-end of march with the hope that there is a oulton trackday on then thats around 150quid or less!

LOL. It'll be my luck that I end up binning it.
It'd be wise to make yourselves scarce if that happens...

(Will stop clogging up your thread now Jamie, sorry  )

yeahhhhh get t' fcuk! haha joking, have fun mate!

  JDM Dc2
Just booked the first trackday of the year for me at Oulton Park for saturday 2nd march, cant wait!

ordered 1m of 16mm fuel hose to replace the squased braided 19mm i have on in 2 places atm, ill do that when i service the car in afew weeks!

  JDM Dc2
so i gave it its yearly service today with these items -

IMG_3376_zps0c1e86d1.gif

new wheels i got the other week only for the tyres -

IMG_3378_zps878bc6c6.gif

due to personal reasons i cant make the trackday on the 2nd march so ive got a refund minus 15quid which wasnt too bad, ill be looking at doing trackdays from like april/may onwards again and itll be returning back on the road after my birthday in 3 weeks when the insurance should drop down a tad

watched this my best session from july earlier and just wanted to be out at Oulton now/today, love the place!

  JDM Dc2
You love R888's don't you haha

Didn't you pretty much kill a fresh set last year at Oulton?

needs must haha, got these for a very good price

at anglesey i did yeah, 2 brand new ones pretty much down to or just above the wear markers haha, still got a full dry trackday at least out of my R888s on my RS4-spokes and a good 3 or 4 on these on the Pepperpots as the 2 R888s are near new and the A048s have 3-4mm above the wear markers left

  JDM Dc2
got bored so thought id try lightening the bonnet a tad, noticed this as i was doing it -

IMG_3380_zps06a26a6f.jpg

so left it here -

IMG_3381_zps61b04c71.jpg

also thought id check out where the oil on my cambelt cover is coming from, its been leaking since oulton last july so thought it was about time i checked it out -

IMG_3379_zps18862fa9.jpg

its either the rocker cover gasket which looks the favourite or the cam seals, so ive ordered a new rocker cover gasket and removed the rocker cover to give it a freshen up, also cleaned up the bodies -

the paint reacted abit but it still looks miles better than it did beforehand seems as the last time i painted it was when it was first fitted onto the 1800 zetec 2 1/2 years ago haha

yeh just got a can off the shelf mate, was a very good match!

Rocker cover gasket done, will take a pic when i get the bonnet off which at the minute im waiting for a mate to come help/hold it while i undo the 2 remaining bolts, sh!t design, doesnt help with my oil cooler hoses in the way haha..

im removing the bonnet as ive got some bonnet pins so I can remove the rest of the innerskin and make the bonnet removeble for easy maintainence and a possible gearbox change in the next few months as I want a slightly shorter ratio one in a Escort S1 rst box

just worked out with 185-60-13s and 7500rpm rev limit -

S2 RST gearbox - 1st 40mph, 2nd 67mph, 3rd 99mph, 4th 134mph, 5th 167mph.

S1 RST gearbox - 1st 36mph, 2nd 60mph, 3rd 89mph, 4th, 120mph, 5th 150mph.

add 8% to them and thats what it reads on my clocks atm with the S2 box

i'm in 2 minds atm tho as i could get a 2nd hand 30year old S1 gearbox and it could be whining or the lsd may not be as good (which id be gutted about as mine is awesome) and could need new diff seals, then new pinch bolts etc so think im just going to stick with my S2 Box and live with the long gears as my it doesnt rattle or whine or crunch and like i say the lsd is awesome
