Just done the second meeting at Snetterton in the Clios. 100% duration and 90% difficulty. Lost the back end on a couple of of kerbs in the first race and ended up 15th. Second race in the wet, started 6th, dried out and managed to get to 1st. Then came off on the last lap and ended up 3rd!

Loving the weather, rubber on the track flicking up, and the fact that it actually feels like a race. I'm quite used to late braking into the corners past AI cars from other games and having them slow down. You end up side by side with them through the corners on this though, it's making me see the benefit of multiple screens now!

I think I'll be creating my own online sessions from now on. Joining other people's just results in either A) Everyone choosing the Formula A car and walking the race or B) A destruction derby

Just had my first properly enjoyable race on this game. Z4 gt3 round Silverstone, turned assists off and changed the view. I think I might of finally got it

Crashed again. And a new bug. Car randomly turns left. No controller input. Car just suddenly darts left. Xbox packed up, whole lot being returned tomorrow.

I just tried the z4 too around hockenheim. Brilliant fun! Great drive. Even managed to control/ catch a few unintentional slides.

Started the clio career then.... oh dear, like clio on ice!! Was well fucked off...., then as heat built in tyres through the qualify laps I was skipping and bouncing around corners as a clio should be. Tyre temps transform it.
I still find it a bit odd, slightest bit of steer input and it slides the arse out even on hot tyres. Its a bit ott.

Edit: bloody hell that first career race was intense. Qualified first, so was pole at donnington .... coming down the hill for the first time the sound of the rest of the pack was incredible, like being chased down by a swarm of angry bees! Impressive stuff. Does actually feel like a race. Proper toe to toe. Some defensive play. I lost pole and just pulled off a cunning undertake to win it back.
Forza is: well I'll just out brake him on this corner and fly by.

Had a bash with the a45 again earlier. Like a saxo with mcdonalds trays under the rear wheels. Simulation my foot!

It just seems odd how people can have such varying experiences.
If you really enjoy the game you'll put up with faults. If you don't, the faults will bug you. The actual racing is brilliant. Doesn't feel scripted at all. And the cars all feel different, which is good. But some of the cars feel awful, the merc and the escort for example. Others feel great (Z4 and the merc 190).
50% percent of the races I've done have been affected by some sort of bug. In 20 odd years of games, that's the worst I've experienced by a mile.

I think your probably right and that as I enjoy it I can put up with some issues, and I'm playing on ps4 which probably helps.
I would say that all the cars I've tried, although I've not tried probably half of them, have felt really good. Maybe I've got lucky but I also guess it's a matter of opinion. The only thing that frustrates me was not being able to get a kart to turn in like the AI. All the cars feel spot on so far IMO

The Megane feels shite, One of the first things i done was to take it round Snett since that is where i had mine out last. Well disappointed :(

i kept qualifying online the crashing to desktop - turning off the steam overlay resolves it.
did a clio cup online race - qual 3rd, done off the line dropped to 5th, but got back to 3rd with fastest lap of the session. pretty cool

So it's taken me 4 days but I finally have a decent pad setup and I'm getting used to the fact that you actually have to slow put the throttle on not just mash it down as you exit a corner... This game is f**king epic... the sense of speed and the level of concentration need are exhausting if you do 100% races.. starting to save up for a wheel now though hopefully take it to the next level

Yeah it took me a while to get used to ease the throttle/brake instead of just mash it down

One other thins I don't like is why can't the consoles run on the detail of ultra settings on pc? It doesn't look anywhere near as good, they must be able to handle the graphic level ie Drive Club detail?

No chance unfortunately mate. The graphics hardware on the new consoles is pretty good given the price of the units as a whole, but it's never going to compete with a PC capable of Ultra settings. To realise fast and consistently high framerates on Ultra settings on PC you'd have already spent as much as the cost of an Xbox One and PS4 put together on the PC's graphics hardware alone.

Just raced snett in clio series. Experienced some of the reported lag.
I failed, placed 7th, I blame the lag. :)
Was great though. Setting the rear tyres down to 1.5bar has reduced the ott oversteer dramatically. Bit more experimenting to find an even better set up.
I changed tires during my pit stop and gambled on soft fronts and medium rears. Showers were forecast. Eek

Suprised at the difference tyres make in this! Grip was way better and I could swear you could even hear the extra tyre noise under hard braking etc.

Xbox so probably have some problems. Be nice to have a change from forza tbh.

Need to work out how to do this controller update that apparently helps.

Well f**k these controller settings just started and first race went straight into reverse and got disqualified lol.

Not got 100% download so its not letting me adjust it all properly yet.

Loving how in depth it all looks though.

I've also read loads of stories of this game needing stupid PC specs for decent performance. Running triple screens (5880x1080) I thought I was going to have problems.
But from a single GTX 670 card which is over two years old now, and with almost all the graphics options and effects on max it absolutely flies along even with 30 other cars and rain.

Im super impressed, thought I was going to need to shell out for a couple of 980's

@Nik ... Maxed Ultra settings or go home... hahahaha! That's a pretty impressive result for a GTX 670 to be honest. :)

The thing is, even a modest card is capable of pushing extraordinary polygon counts these days but it's more an issue of VRAM usage these days and how to make textures, shaders, etc. all fit into memory with minimum fuss and with minimal data transfer of those resources to the card. As soon as you start exhausting your VRAM you are screwed. Forms of AA and ultra texture quality settings are the two biggest culprits in terms of hitting performance hard (hence are the first things to 'turn down' if a higher framerate is desired). I'm playing on a fairly beefy GTX 780 Ti SSC at 1920x1200p with everything maxed to their full extent and I get framerates varying between 45fps (heavy rain) to 130fps (sunny day); obviously depending on particle effect overdraw, scene complexity, number of cars, etc. But I digress, seeing that running like that on a 670 is impressive.

Really enjoy this game I have all assists off spent a good while setting it up and getting used to it and pretty happy so far. It can be a f**king pain in the ass though. I need to update my controller as I'm getting no trigger feedback making it pretty difficult.

Love the group a e30 bmw. Tuning makes no sense to me need to wait for some kind of guide on that lol.

There's a turn on Oulton I can't quite master yet, right hand bend just before the arch.

Love the community time trial with the Clio around Brands Hatch. Just set the 800th fastest time and I know I've still got more I can knock off.

The one that leads onto the straight before the final corner? I found that difficult to begin with. Managed it in the end by braking early then full throttle through. It does seem to brow a little hill at the end of the corner though which tends to lead to oversteer. So letting off slightly there does the trick.

It just feels disconnected to me if that makes sense. Like the controller inputs aren't very responsive. Can the xbox players confirm decent trigger feedback at the edge of grip? I'm really struggling without it tbh.

Just having to guess brake and throttle force. Lack of tyre sounds make it near impossible to tell what grip there is. Hope all the bug fixes sort this but generally as it is its not bad. Not sure I'd put it on top of FM5 though.

Yeah. I do get the same feeling, your inputs are a bit vague and slack sometimes.

I'm Xbox. Poor trigger feedback here too, which again is making braking etc difficult. The quiet tyres do make it difficult actually. Even with headphones their hard to hear.

But still, on some laps and cars it plays well and you get into it..... and before you know it your stringing great laps together and loving it.

Its a bit inconsistent, some sessions just flow amazing and the next Its just vague and annoying.

I'm just praying the next patch does sort the issues out and it'll transform the game.

If Im guessing correctly its Druids, after the chicain stay to the left as you go under the footbridge and head for the right hand side of the track, at the left hand kink head all the way back over to the left hand side. Brake hard aiming for the middle of the track then miss the first apex and cut in for the second one.

Yep when you get it right its amazing. It has some definite potential to be awesome with the bugs fixed and the controller feedback being spot on.

What configuration you got? I'll post mine up a bit later. Be interesting to see how they all differ.

Agreed.

I'm still experimenting.
Dead zone for steering to 0 as stated by the game devs, to help with the issues.
Most of my other deadzones are 0 too. And sensitivity are around the 20s. Slowly tweaking some up to see the difference.

I dropped the rear tyre pressure to 1.5 from 1.6 in the clio to reign in the silly instant oversteer and it was very effective. So little things like that help to. Car drove way better. Then swapped soft front and medium rear in the pit stop and it was even better!
