Mso supercharged Clio mk2

Backtrack?

That not them saying they couldnt improve on it?

Thats them saying yes it looks and runs fine.

Be interesting to see what TDF say, i cant see them saying "Nope, that is the perfect map and we cant improve on it at all" considering they are specialists.[/QUOTcanton
I'm just telling you what they said to me fair plays to them for being honest and not have me waste a load off money for them to do a completely new map, if they said it was running s**t the car would have been booked in to them to sort out.

Check out the RR printouts from power station that adeyspec put up on here I don't need to say anymore on the subject!!

?? a r/r prontout says nothing about the ecus ability to be mapped by another tuner. unless the place remapped the ecu and the printout shows the inferior 1st maps run with a properly mapped run overlayed on it.

I suppose time will tell if the diff lasts/performes as long as ktec think it should.

Tbh when you get the car back, if your happy with how it feels then that's all that matters doesn't it!

It sort of seems like your modding your 172 to try impress people on here. I make changes to my car to make me happy, dont really care what other people say/think but my project thread is here to give some people something to read if their bored.

Out of interest what ecu do rs tuning use on there s/c kit, have been waiting 2 days for ktec to phone me back about my kit, just thinking may have to give rs tuning a ring instead,if ktec can't get back to me when I what to give them a big chunk of cash, what will happen when/ if I have problems.

Mso If you are happy with your car that's all that matters, its your cash and your car so I would stop trying to defend everything you do,everyone has different opinions on tuning cars, maybe some of the guys on here should open up there on tuning company, they seem to know everything, they should do really well!
As for you trying to impress people on the forum as crispy.clio has said I think that's just crap, you are going to end up with a car that most on here would die to own and your just sharing that with everyone, people on here seem to want to give you a hard time, good luck with your car mate, its going to be a beast.

Doms Clio, its not a bad job fitting one, I can come give a hand if need be, I also have a forged engine ready for anyone wanting to up there boost :) Was in paul's RSTuning Clio and has been rebuilt 200 miles ago.

As for induction, if you can get a shortened radiator you can get the filter up to where the standard one fits easily enough!

Thanks mate, how much you looking for the forged lump,do you still have a s/c clio, where in Suffolk are you buddy.

I think the main problem people can't come to terms with, is that k-tec have potentially done a propper job on someones car. As there have been many horror stories in the past, particularly when venturing into the ITB/boost world of modifying when K-tec have been concerned. All credit to them if they've finally upped their game.

I've been watching this thread very closely, lets just see how the car unfolds and that will tell many tales as to the quality of their workmanship

It's the contradiction that I question. If The car was all good then why then take it to tdf to check out? Them say it was as good as it can be but then say they couldn't unlock the ecu? How would they even know if the timing or fueling couldn't be taken further if they cant get into the ecu to adjust things while trying to map it with det cans and an afr meter?

Indeed it's all about how it drives, if I was totally happy with all that I wouldn't take my car elsewhere for a second opinion?

Plus the slating of certain rollers? You were happy with your result at the time until mine ran more? U then spoke to Ktec and then said to me "rich maps them lean so it won't last long" my cars done 10k since with alot of abuse and track work?

Gripper is far from a fit and forget diff, it has clutch plates which are immense at first but will then wear and lose it's greatness. They're noisy and snatchy at slow speeds and slow cornering

also, some people will quite happily put up with shoddy workmanship cos they know no bettter. i know of ppl that have slated certain companies to fuk whilst getting work done at other companies, and putting up with dire mapping from their chosen co. they got their car independantly mapped to a much higher standard and were much much happier with it. they now in bed with the co. they slagged off so much. oh the irony lol.

My car was running .57 bar produces 255hp the figure power station stated is b****cks, i took it to tdf because I listened to all the s**t on here about how ktec can't map cars even thou the car ran ok I thought it could be improved as it turned out it produced the same peak hp figure that ktec did. So for listening to all the so called experts on here I wasted my time going to TDF, they told me it was ok and that they couldn't improve on it I'm not saying TDF are no good far from it they are at the top of there game in what they do, it just happens that ktec done an excellent job in mapping my car. I'm not trying to show off or being big headed about my car it just happens that the work done by ktec has been 100%, and I said before if it wasn't I would tell others not to get there car done by them, it just annoying when I have had this work done and I tell others on here they seem to **** ktec off, those should listen more to the people who have actually had work done like this there views are far more accurate then someone who has had no experience themselves

If that's aimed at me, both Adey and myself know andy prior to him joining Ktec, and people might be surprised at how much of mine came from Ktec....

MSO, it's good that it's healthy! It's always good to get a second opinion anyway so I wouldn't call it wasting your time...at all.. It's just taken them awhile to perfect it - and to stop using folk like rats in a maze.

Here's one for you,

The tec in K-Tec could stand for Trial and Error Cutler

lol too much free time on a Friday. :D

A year of hard use down the line and mines still working.... I must be one of the lucky chosen few

Paul at Rstunning can remap the gen90, he did mine when i had my sc 172. It gained 8 or 11 bhp and was miles better on the go go juice.

LoL keep it safe.......

Nothing to do with the set up capabilities then?

My car is running standard cams so will just wait an see what it makes, not chasing every last hp my main aim is a reliable car, engine is being built on Monday I'm off on holiday now so when I'm back it should be ready, running her in for a while start at 250hp then up her to 300hp then see what we can get out off her after that. Whatever she makes at a reliable level is what it will stay at when I went out in there 330hp turbo that was plenty fast enough if it's like that I'll be a very very happy man!!

Saw your car yesterday mate, I bet while your on holiday you'll be thinking hmmm I wonder how far they have got ;)

Well f**king said!

i dont know why this lad gets such a hard time, he's building a car that most of us could only dream of and all he gets is s**t, its been 100% reliable so far, whats the problem? its his money, his car, good on you mate and good luck with it.

MSO sell up and buy a frs  or just wipe the floor with them instead ;)

Oh how I often dream of a 330bhp Clio cup LoL

MSO the reason the turbo set up felt so impressive is down to the extra torque a turbo set up produces over a SC set up.

I thought the power/torque would be very similar for the same amount of air being pumped in and fuel injected. The supercharger is going to lose some in being driven but the turbo loses some in higher inlet temps and back pressure caused by the turbine.
I can see why a turbo might feel quicker as you get a big hit as opposed to the linear nature of a supercharger though.

Can someone tell me different regarding turbo/supercharger torque for same boost though?Would be interested to hear the thoery behind it.

its all to do with how its delivered and when its delivered in the rpm range. its a tuff one to explain but a sc running 10psi will hit full boost at top revs so delivering linear torque (constantly trying to make more and more power as its flow is based directly to revs), a turbo one will chuck in its 10psi by say 3k then as the engine uses more air with the revs the torque will drop off.

because the air is delivered in this way a turbo has a massive spike of flow at low rpm giving a high torque, the sc doesnt so doesnt make the torque. this is why a sc car dives very smooth but a turbo car kicks you in the back.

in theory a car with large torque should win races and definatley feel faster tho hp seems to win race on the drag strip (look at the high horsepower low torque honda na drag cars)

would be intresting to see what 2 sim horse powered clios (sc vs turbo) would do

Isn't a SC geared though? Also you can change pulleys to give more boost for same rpm.

I love the idea of superchargers compared to turbos, one guy put one on his pulsar and look at the results:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEWYhfvE2EQ

Makes 1 bar at 2k rpm, you'd be looking at 3500rpm for that on a standard turbo and around 2800rpm on a very fast spooling one.

yeah to a point tho remember its direct revs vs flow. you can fit a small pully and have loads of boost low down, what happens when you get to 7200rpm? your probably spinning the sc faster than it was designed. you need to pick your boost level you want the pick a pully to deliver that at your peak rpm. there are ways around it to run it fast spooling but with a way of limiting the peak boost it makes but no need to go into that on here

  GTiR 394bhp
Yeah thats what I was wondering, how to get good boost low down but still be able to control it at higher revs so you aren't gettin ridiculous boost levels and killing the engine.Did a bit of reading and it seems you can fit wastegates similar to turbos to bleed off boost instead of exhaust gas but its a lot of messing about so not normally done.Plus you'll have an nooying hissing sound all the time.
Maybe one day someone will come up with a variable vane supercharger which will give the best of both worlds.Or even an electric type which could give you more control-it would probably kill your alternator though with the current it would draw.

variable vanes in the turbo work by adjusting the exhaust side not the inlet, it directs the exhaust gasses over the wheel differently. the way i do it is spool the sc fast and then limit the air it can draw in.

  GTiR 394bhp
Yes i mean variable vanes on the superchargers compressor though linked to throttle position.Or even a kind of camera shutter type valve instead of a restrictor which would open at low revs and close at higher ones.
Edited to add a butterfly valve as a restrictor would be even easier and not so hard as you can buy controllable ones for exhausts already.
If only I could make what I am talking about I would be rich :p
