    Super Cup Update

I simply can't understand why its taking so long to design, manufacture, test, calibrate and verify this product - its got to be getting on for at least a couple of months now matt! when I wanted my turbo fitting the bloke knocked this manifold up in a couple of days: When you've got this...

BPM Racing - Britcar Season Opener

Thanks again Matt, it was good to be involved with such a nice bunch of people. Fantastic result for the first outing of the year and with the car still in good shape at the end of the race, something which you can really appreciate after seeing the carnage at the start, that sort of thing must...

    ITG Airbox project

The elbow on mine is 70mm internal diameter, it fits perfectl. I didn't have to move my ECU bracket, I just used the new brace to push the ECU back slightly, the top left hand corner sits about 10mm further back than it did originally.

    Welder

'Clarke' are about the best hobby mig welders, you are looking at £250 for a decent setup for that thickness though. Like Fred says, Clarke are avaliable from Maching Mart and avoid gasless like the plague...

    Welder

OK, as long as you're not wanting to weld anything less than about 2.5mm, then go for an arc (stick) welder, You can get a really cheap one form lidl etc (£40) but when you start using thicker rods and more current it will struggle on a standard domestic power supply and keep blowing fuses. You...

    ITG Airbox project

On the issue of heat, I checked the airbox temp by touch today after my commute home: 30 mile drive with the last 5 miles stop starting in traffic and generally pootling along at 30Mph, so quite low airflow and the airbox was surprisingly cold, even colder that ambient. I was planning on fitting...

    ITG Airbox project

The breather filter it just tucked somewhere behind the ECU at the minute, I've not really done enough miles yet to notice the smell but its still on the standard pipe so not much to play with. It will probably be like this for a week or so, until I've raised another £20 for a catch tank.

    ITG Airbox project

I spoke to Andy about the heat issues, and he assured me it would make no difference, remember there's lots of cool air rushing through there very fast. He could have tried to sell me the more expensive option on that issue, but said there was no point. As for the battery, I'm using it day to...

    ITG Airbox project

I had a Maxogen last year and loved every minute of it, sadly I decided to sell the car, so I whipped off the airbox and sold it on, I brought the Maxogen in the GDI group buy and by the time I came to sell it on, it had lost about £60 in value - so yes, they are worth the Money. Thing is that I...

Drivers harness - where to fit?

I've got an aftermarket seat and subframe so: gearstick side mounts onto the drivers subframe via a pre drilled hole, I've got an eyebolt going through with an FIA stressplate the other side of the subframe for it to screw into. Sill side I'm goint to use the seat belt rail bolt hole which is...

    10mm eyebolt

Anyone know where I can get a long 10mm (M10) eyebolt from. I've seen 23mm long ones, but Ideally I'd like a 50mm ish bolt. Its to replace the sill seat belt rail bolt, so that I can run the seat belt rail and have an eye avaliable for my clip in harness. Looked on Google / eBay / Tweeks etc...

    harness - 3 point or 4?

I'm going to use an existing mounting point in the rear for my harness (isofix or seatbelt point) so I wondered, whats the point of a 4 point if both of the rear points fix to the same bolt? Most people say buy a 4, but whats the reason? Looking at these...

    ball joint replacement

They have 2 bolt holes on the flatter piece, I think the 2 different types relate to 2 different hole diameters, you'd want the larger hole diameter for your 172. I 'think' its 12mm

    ball joint replacement

They are held in by two bolts to the wishbone and the ball joint itself is an inteferance fit into the hub, which is then secured with a nut and bolt. you will a 'chisel' type ball joint splitter - looks and operates like a chisel, with a forked end, to remove the ball joint from the hub...

    Can't remove brake disc

I'm assuming you mean the little Torx head bolts? If so you could try hammering in a mildly oversized torx bit, so its a very snug fit (fkin tight) and try to undo it with a short sharp shock rather than gradual pressure. Obviously you will need a new bolt but they sound like they are knackered...

    Help needed please monaco buckets

A very different fit to the imola's, I found them a bit baggy and not very supportive, but everyone is a different shape. You really need to try any seats out before you buy. I ended up driving to Demon Tweeks (5 Hr round trip) just so that I could sit in some seats that i wanted to try and was...

    more toe advice

Problem is Fred, that although I'm doing 300 odd miles a week, I also want a good trackday setup (R888's) I might get the tracking re-set and make a camber guage, so I can experiment, it seems pretty easy, especially since I know what the settings are now. So would you suggest 2min toe in per...

    more toe advice

The camber differance probably doesn't matter, but if it were me doing it, I'd make it alot closer than 24mins. The reason I didn't pull him up too much on it is that the guy was seriously dragging his heels, and at £85 per hour, plus Vat tbqfh I couldn't afford it. It took him 2 hours to slip...
