I'm considering renting my cup car out for a year or similar period of time. It is an awesome track day car.
I'm looking at about 1500 pounds for the year to rent it. The cars been serviced and looked after however at the end of the year I would need the gearbox and engine serviced. Also a...
Interesting, I had a rr done on mine and got those numbers.....
It was a miltek and all the rest he had on it?
I certainly found mine a completely different car...
I went from a VX220 to Clio Cup. I've been out in the V6 and it does seem involving but they are not as fast and I would think only equally involving.
Have you modded your VX any? I took mine to an AMD stage 2 which gave it near 170bhp and similar in torque. You could even go for the 190bhp...
Leo's car is a minter...
well set up, tidy inside and out. Best compromise between track / road car. Sounds nice, tidy handling, goes well with a nice sweet pull all the way through (superchips ECU) and the brakes are well up to the job. A lot of money spent on the car for what he is asking...
Took my front wheels off last night and ran the car whilst on axle stands. Also turned to the right to increase the symptoms that all of you including me have experienced. The sound appears to be coming from the CV joint at the top end of the drive shaft!!!
At least on mine anyway. Will be...
Believe it or not my MK1 phase 2 is doing just the same thing...
It's coming from the wheel area and will be taking it apart tonight to try to diagnose the problem...
I'm guessing that even though it makes the noise you get no feedback through the controls?
Also it continues whether...
It's coming from the drivers front wheel.
Initially when you drive the car there is no noise. After 20 miles it's starts (i.e. something is getting hot)
When you turn right on full lock there is a metal on metal scrapping sound when it's hot or warm.
However, there are no symptoms...
Didn't realise the discs where Brembo items...
Isn't t just the case with the cup cars that:
1. Intake is very direct, only one bend in the whole line to the engine
2. High volume area for the air
3. Large filtration area to reduce back pressure
4. Simple, large paper filter.
I...
Sounds like it has been in an accident, 4K for a Cup, must have bought it cheap...
Still If anybody wanted a project to bring it back to original spec and they'd have a cheap track day weapon on their hands....
Yep, 205 will be fine. I used to run Toyo's, wear really quick (i.e. 2K miles with me!!!) and didn't find them very good in the wet but were awesome in the dry.
This is all about personal opinion....so my two cents:D
First off all, a cars pace is a factor of BOTH its power & weight; thats why the best measure is power to weight ratio rather than total power output. Caterham is a great example; The CSR 260 has 256 BHP, the M5 has 500 BHP which car is...
I went from a 172 Cup to a VX220 Na (2.2 16V).
They get a lot better with miles, I had one from new and it felt a bit tight, went in a mates one with 20K miles with no chip and it was quick! Mine got much better but added a Miltek exhuast, chip and induction kit.
Had a rolling road done at...
I got mine for £12K, although havent seen many for that price. The UK cars are left hand drive also so theres little difference in buying the UK or EU car. Most go for between 17 & 20,000 Euro.

Hes right about the gearbox though.
Ill probably get flamed for this but for £22K you might pick up a VXR220. Great cars, that bit more civilised than the Elise and heaps of grunt with a chassis that you already know and love.
The VX I used to own would get loads of attention etc...and return good fuel consumption.
Have you spoken to the Clio Cup teams (details from http://www.renaultsport.co.ukwww.renaultsport.co.uk) they will happily do mods for you and their labour costs arent all that high!
Even the parts that they could get hold of from Rsport are not restrictingly expensive. Have a look at...
I have one of the racers that I wont mind getting on a rolling road, just depends where as I have to trailer it...and of course when.
Not quite the same as what you chaps are talking about though.
Ive just got one of the track cars, do you know what they call the ECU in those if not a Group N?
So presumably the engine internals are different again for these cars?
[Edited by Jaakko1 on 02 August 2005 at 2:25pm]
Yes, I am refering to the race cars
But isnt the group N ECU (proper one) designed for this? Correct me if Im wrong....
Are the others effectively just re-maps that have similar setups to that on the official one? I thought they were only available from R-sport.
