    Compressor and sand blaster

Get the biggest compressor you can afford, flow rate is just as important as capacity. Sand blasting is a horrible job but sometimes there's no alternative, it's unbeatable for doing the underside of a car prior to welding. Great for getting in all the nooks an crannies you'd otherwise have no...

Front speaker recommendations for 2002 172

Any 13cm (5.25") speakers will fit straight in, you don't need to take the door cards off either the speaker grilles just pop off with a bit of care. I'd buy the proper wiring adapters too they're only about 4 quid or something, the set of JVC speakers I bought came with some for the mk2 clio.

Who has made a Clio Cup Race Car road legal?

If I was doing it I'd want to at least maintain a shred of plausibility and insure it as a 1*2. There's half a dozen being broken in the classifieds at any one time, most people weigh the shells in once they're stripped. It's not even remotely legal, but that's the way I'd do it and I'd have...

    New 271bhp Hyundai i30

If I have to contort my ankle past the point of comfort to get an effective blip on the throttle then the pedals aren't designed for it IMO. To be fair, it might be different if I had old fluid with a bit of water/air content and a spongy brake pedal as a result, and it also might get a bit...

    New 271bhp Hyundai i30

I really like the look of this! And I can't H&T in my 172 either, had it down to a fine art in my Impreza as the pedals were set up beautifully for it, but in the clio the brake pedal biting point is just far too high relative to the throttle pedal. Slide your heel across and... Nothing there...

    172 won't start.

Does sound like a flat battery. Have you got a multi meter? Worth investing in one for less than 20 quid and watching a few youtube videos on how to do a few basic checks with it.

Changing speakers without removing door cards?

Cool cheers chaps! Had far too many door cards in the past where the speaker grille looks removable but after levering it off and it smashing into a million pieces it becomes obvious it was glued in! Forewarned is forearmed

Changing speakers without removing door cards?

Just wondering are the covers in the door cards easily removable to replace the speakers in a ph2 172? My left hand speaker has started farting like a goodun so ordered a cheap pair of 13cm jvcs to replace them with, I've seen you can buy the covers separate to the cards which would lead me to...

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Haha, I was so paranoid about doing the same when refitting my cams I set all the pistons to 1/2 way up the bores and didn't move them until the cam covers were fully on and timing tools in place then very gingerly turned the engine round to tdc on no.1  I've absolutely hated every...

    Joe's 182 semi lemon

Bugger, the 17 year old in me does love pulling handbrake turns! Might have a quick look to see if there's performance brake pads available for the rear of these.

    Joe's 182 semi lemon

How do you find your handbrake in autosolos? I'd like to try one in my 172 but the handbrake is crap at locking the wheels on the move, will simply changing rear discs and pads sort it?

    182 bits onto ph1

Why don't you stick your 182 on ebay at what you think it's worth? You never know you might be surprised. Must admit though I can't see the appeal of going to a ph1, horrid dated looking front end compared to a ph2 IMO.

Took my engine out, things don't look good.

Got the wheel alignment done today, what a difference! Got confidence in pressing on with the car now, didn't feel comfortable accelerating before the pulling and tramlining was so bad. It feels quite quick now I'm able to properly run it through the gears, and there's no sign of crunching into...

Clio 182 Running rough/ No power

Far better to spend a bit of money getting a proper technician to accurately diagnose the fault than throw loads of money at a game of parts darts and change components because it worked for someone on the Internet.

    182 headgasket?

Just for reference I did a stone cold compression check on my engine and all four cylinders were well over 200 psi so you've definitely got an issue there. Has it had the head skimmed before? Check through the history as apparently these will only take it the once without affecting cambelt tension.
