i'd go for a mk1 1.8 16v in good condition as it's older it'll be cheaper on the tax, parts should be easier and cheaper to get too, also with it being older insurance would be kinder. there's always a good chance you'll crash or do some sort of damage to your first car so i wouldnt go...

the 172 and 182 inlet are only different in a position for one securing bolt and a take off for the carbon canister. both of which are not needed. this inlet is from a 172 but I had it on my 182 trophy for about 6 months without any problems whatsoever
