So minor update. The new engine I put in sadly was no better than the last, my own fault for not testing it before hand. So with less than 100 miles on it it came apart and I found this:

Ouch. That'll do it. So taken this opportunity to lower the compression slightly as it really didnt want to have any more than 15 degrees advance on ignition. I've done this by fitting a Megane 225 head gasket, and taken the opportunity to fit the ARP's from the old engine.

Head is on but that's all so far. Sump and belts on Monday night hopefully. I need to wire in the Megane map sensor too.

Bad news! :( but looking at that, seems its not bothered you and you've cracked on with repairs and upgrades. :)

 
Don't know power wise, was pulling well, but hopefully with pistons in 1 piece it should go a lot better. As the rings(I thought at the time) were shot, I just used it as an opportunity to get the map pretty close. Got the AFR's pretty much 10.8-11.2 all the way through, and circa 14.7 on cruise. Just need to hire a rolling road to be able to get playing with IGN timing. Must say, in the passenger seat while I was mapping with my mate driving, it felt pretty brutal.
 
Well after the m6 sensor breaking and me ordering a new one I finally got it back up and running today, have done about 20 miles running it in, will take it to the garage tomorrow and drop the asda smart price oil and chuck in the new decent stuff and crack on with the mapping. I did a compression test before bedding the rings in, and it showed results of 180psi which is a brilliant result considering!
 
Well, covered 300 miles since the rebuild now. Feels awesome, went and did the mapping last night, had a mate driving it and he was loving how well it drove.

Have aired on the side of caution on the ignition side until I can have a set of det cans to use. I'm only seeing 15 degrees at WOT.

Glad its coming along nicely. Was always screaming for a decent amount of power that car IMHO rather than the asthmatic ITB lump. :)
 
It is indeed a rst kit, I'm hoping that one of the brackets has broken at some point and someone has made one and that it isn't what rst made!!

Yeah the main side bracket is the rs tuning one but your top bracket looks home made, but you defo need a top bracket as the side one isn't enough, I made my own at work then k-tec brought theirs out & it was pretty much the same lol.

Are you keeping the the standard rev limit at 1bar?
 
Boost is a measure of restriction really.

But in layman terms, its the amount of pressure the turbo/sc is supplying ontop of atmospheric pressure.

It's can get a little more complicated with bigger turbo's etc as a larger compressor housing will flow more air at a lower pressure etc.

Basically, look at it as in your NA car, and a well performing inlet will be at atmospheric pressure at full throttle. When a boosted car is on boost say 1 bar for ease, instead of atmospheric pressure filling the cylinder, which'll be 1bar, and at perfect volumectric efficiency will have 500cc of air and fuel. It'll now have 1000cc of air and fuel.

I never understood it in numerical values. I kind of got the principle (I.e. more boost = the potential for a richer air to fuel ratio) but the logic behind it was lost on me.

Is barometric pressure a linear scale?
 
I'm going to do a chip basically, keep upping the power/boost until it pops then take it back a tad. And leave it there. Yeh stock pistons and rods, which shouldn't be an issue with the smooth delivery the supercharger provides. It's spikes and excessive cylinder pressures that cause the bent rods.
