1.2 16v 0-100 curiousity.

Actually for a 1149cc car they are very quick..I hate other clio owners slagging off 1.2's
Not like you can drive at 100mph is it!!
Just jealous that we have cheap tax and insurance.;)

There is alot of other car owners that could **** your slow 1*2's but have probably got better things to do.

The only place I see any use for a 1*2 is being a boy racer from the lights.

No they're not. 1.1 Saxo's are easily as quick.

And having a 1*2 isn't just about from the lights. Imagine a lovely sunny day, a nice winding road, and you're just coming out of a corner and you plant your foot. In a 1.2 it does nothing, so you'd give up and go home. No fun to drive, and dnagerous when trying to overtake you actually have to make an appointment in your diary.

You sound like me when I had one.
I had alot of fun in mine but they are slow as f**k, they are nippy enough to drive around town but they are by no means sporty, At all.

My car pulls lurvly when I put my foot down...my car must be special..cos it flys.
Have many peeps on here with 1*2 been in a 1.2 16v? cos I think they might be surprised... obviously not as fast but very fun!
Iv had mine 1 1/2 years and it makes me smile everytime I drive it still.
I think if you drive it right you can have just as much fun..and its even better cos its cheaper all round.

I drive a Golf vr6 also...so I am not shy to a bit of power.;)

most i have had out of mine was 110 speedo reading , going down a hill on the motorway . Tbh i dont think thats bad as the speed limit is 70 so i will never need to go this fast again .

The g/f has one, so I drive one on occasions. For what they are they are probably quite nippy to be fair to them. It's just after driving my car, it feels like it has no power what so ever. But it's just because I'm used to a much quicker car.

a 172/182 is only twice as fast as a 1.2 16v to 60mph, I wouldn't class that as 'much' quicker.....;)

i did a quick 0-80 on my way home before, on my private runway.....couldnt get any more as there was not enough room...........i had to turn at the start so it probably would have been a second quicker if it was a straight standing start....................as martin_89 said his 1.2 did it in 17/18 secs, thats what mine does it in (bearing in mind its stripped with bucket seats).......even with the turn at the start....vid coming in a sec....

172 actually only 2.9 -3.4 seconds quicker than mine;)

I've timed mine 0-60 between 10 and 11 seconds. Not too bad at all, at the end of the day it's only a little shopping car. Got to laugh at all the sport owners taking the piss, everyone has to start somewhere with a car!

  clio 1.2 dynamique
i managed to reach 116 gps on a 7mile straight road. slight downhill but reached 100 in around 25-30 seconds. that was with bigger wheels for the top speed, k&n filter and a cat back exhaust

I love this thread! (Some AVG times fyi) Fastest hatches i.e ST's/RS's 14-15sec/ 172/182 do 16-17 / clio williams 19-20sec / cars like 106gti,vts/valver/Punto Gt/HGT 22-27sec / Saxo VTRs and other warm hatches do 30-35sec.

anyone thinking there 1.2's can do 100 in under 30sec needs there head checked.

  VaVa
That's a good 12 seconds to 60.

Have you timed it with a stop watch???
Watch for the actual speedo moving not me reving it.

Listen for your clutch coming out, then factor in the paralax error caused by the camera being offset to the speedo and the fact that 60 on your speedo is most definitely more like 56-57mph in real life..... I was being generous saying 12 seconds tbh.

How the f**k you got 9.9 from that I'll never know, and how people can ever claim a avideo of a speedo to be reliable evidence.... well I'll never know that either lol.

I've owned both the 1.2 16v dynamique and 182, now have a 197...

The standard 1.2 is a great car for nipping to the shops and great around town but they have no guts at all out on the motorway or on quick back roads..

Tho a well set up one will stay with the likes of 172's (not the cup of course) round the bendy bits and on some tracks all day..

Well set up being:

15/16's with good tyres, good year F1's or toyo's for the dry/summer.

Decent suspension (not -60mm PI springs on the standard shocks), as in coils or a gas kit.

Decent brakes, maybe a fast road kit consisting of brembo max discs and ebc/black diamond pads.

You can hear my music being played and thats not sped up.
I actually reckon I could get to 60 in 2nd as my gear changing is poo.
But you can think what you like...I know different.

Plus cheaper in tax + insurance + petrol + parts = bargain:rasp:

I have 60mm PI springs and up-rated gas shocks and its f-ing wicked...unless you have been in my car..then you wont know.

  Clio 182
Yeah but who cares if they can beat a 1.2/1149cc car though..whhoo.

i have had a 1.25 fiesta and a 1.2 16v corsa, bother were quicker i would say. the only thing i could beat was my cousins 1.2 8v punto and 1.2 8v corsas
