Apple 8/X

  Listerine & Poledo
If you can afford an X you can afford someone to do sums for you - calculator is not required.
Besides, if someone bought the "Look I've got an iPhone X" version, after they've taken a photo it wont have enough spare capacity to calculate

Just got the options through for the new work phone, all 64Gb models, iPhone 8 for nuffink, Pay £80 to go to iPhone 8+, or pay £250 and get the iPhone X.

Now that's a dilemma..... but does mean I'll always be contactable by work because I'll use the work phone for everything. Nah, screw that :D

Sounds a pretty decent deal, you ordered a wireless charging pad or any fast charge cables?

Vodafone upgrade with the 10% discount.
Never thought about them tbh. Not so sure i'll bother tbh, the current way of charging has never really bothered me.

Think I'm gonna go for an 8Plus at the weekend. The finger print scanner/button not being included on the X is putting me off. And lets face it, the only reason they are pushing the facial recognition on the X is because the couldn't get the finger print reader to work under the glass. The 11 will have it I reckon then the X buyers will be gutted.

The issue is, theres only £200 between the 256Gb X and 8 plus.

I've gone for a refurb 6S with 20gb at £14 a month.
The only reason i've not gone sim only on my 6s is the other halfs s7 is destroyed, and she's ont about 6 months into her contract so she's having this.

No, because most X buyers will also eat the 11 when it comes out.

Pressing 5+8+9=94 lol

If I do it slowly it works. Appears have to wait a brief pause for the plus to fade back to orange before I can press it.

I got a cheapo qi charger off eBay the other day. It’s alright. It’s handy for when the phone isn’t in use to just plonk it down.

I’ll wait to see if any decent affordable ones come out before I buy loads to pop around the house.

At those prices, much like Chinese lightning leads, may as well but twice as many as you need and bin them as they break.

Personally, I'm going to keep using those strange bits of wire that go from the wall to the phone.

I can't believe that you can pick decent ones up for £15, but Apple are trying to charge £55 for ones they don't even manufacture themselves. Never had wireless charging so hoping to be pleasantly surprised haha

Really? You've heard of Apple before, right?

Intel i5, but painted white? Slap £300 on the sticker price of that
Sub-spec smartphone but with no IO ports? At Least £700

;)

Indeed indeed, when when they take Belkin and Mophie and inflate there prices hugely it's more annoying, although, as you say, predictable.
Wouldn't have been surprised if they'd cooked up their own wireless charging standard just to really f**k people off

I am equally surprised. Seems they missed a trick there.

Unlike them to not force people to use proprietary leads and connections that are no better than the industry standard. Yes, Lightning, I'm looking at you.

That usage of the wires isn’t by choice though is it
Insofar as the phones doesn't support it, yes.

In regards to "would I if I could", no, no I probably wouldn't. I struggle to see any benefits for small-pad wireless chargers.

Entire tabletops, that's a different idea altogether. But if you've got to go to a table, with a charging pad on it, and lay phone on said pad.........what's so advanced about that? I go to a table, place phone on a dock, and it charges.

I get that it's just not 'scene' enough for some......but that's their prerogative to just piss money sideways

Do Samsung make a wireless charger for their phones? If so how much is it?

How did you quote pistachio but with my quote?

Charging tables would be cool.

Yup. Just scene points.

I still plug it in at night. Because the first night I used the wireless charger he room was like a bloody rave! The little less light up the acrylic something rotten

IIRC Apple are designing tech to allow a single surface to charge multiple devices (like AirPower) and they're gonna sell that tech so other companies can make charging tables etc.

Yeah I could see the use in a car, but not convinced at home.

Having lived with wireless charging for two years I can absolutely see the benefit at home or work.

Phone charging, phone rings, pick up, talk, roam the house/office, hang up, put down, continue charging.

vs

Phone charging, phone rings, pick up, talk, hang up, put down, continue charging.

or

Phone charging, phone rings, pick up, talk, disconnect charging lead, roam the house/office, hang up, reconnect charging lead, put down, continue charging.

The first wins every time. I can't understand why you're all unable to see the benefit of your wireless devices actually being truly wireless instead of physically connected to something...unless you disconnect it first and then reconnect it afterwards. F*** yeah.

I've had wireless charging before on a previous phone, it's a "nice to have" but I can't honestly say I missed it when I went to a phone that didn't support it. I can see in the car with CarPlay and wireless charging it will be good, more convenient than sticking the phone in a holder and connecting it. Not a big deal though.

I guess I just don't use the phone enough to feel the need to keep it topped up all the time, charging once a day works perfectly for me with capacity to spare.

Ok what about, my phones gone flat, I want to use my phone while it’s charging, oh I can’t because it has to be on the wireless charging pad.

You can still plug a cable in, they've not removed that function (yet!)

But if you had wireless chargers, you would never/rarely get to the point where you need to charge it whilst using it, as it will be kept topped up.

Don’t get me wrong I can see that, but I’m not convinced it’s better.
