New 172 cup owner...needs help..

Hi,my dad has just bought a clio 172 cup to make into a trackday/tarmac rally car...ive just some questions on behalf of him (he is too old to use a pc...brain dont work):lolup:

He has fitted a k+n filter and full milltek exhaust.....full cage and k-tec engine mounts going on soon too...also k tec front discs and carbon lorraine pads

questions.....

1. He has just bought brand new bilstein coilovers...but they come with no front top mounts....can he use the standard ones and still adjust the camber to about -2 degrees? (if not is there any top mounts you could recommend?...ive heard of "camber bolts" from k tec...does he need them?

2. The power is good but comes in very late....is there a chip/remap/mod which would lower the power band a bit

3. The rear brakes do sod all...is there any recommended disc and pad combo?....would he need to run a more aggressive pad on the rear to compensate

Any info would be great...as he is used to evo's and mk2 escorts...so the little terrier clio is a bit different:D

1- answered on MLR (guessing/hoping your the same person of I'll be looking like a nob ;)) don't know if I helped or confused :S
2-not used it but plenty have used the RSTuner map
3-for me personally standard rear discs and pads work well with the XP8's up front
 
rear brakes on 172 Cups are notoriously (and intentionally) weak due to lack of abs.

there is a lot of information on here relating to rear brake effort on cups.

Yep..its me...thanks for the info...yes the bilsteins have oval tops,but still not sure if uprated top mounts need to be used or standard..and whether i need camber bolts or not

camber bolts are cheaper elsewhere

Where mate?....and im guessing they will fit the bilstein coilovers?....k-tec ones are about 40 odd quid!

Quick eBay search for the bolts, you'll get them for £23 posted, everything is cheaper on eBay over K-Tec tbh, good customer service but you pay for it.

Thanks....going to order the bolts tomorrow

-2 degress camber it is then....with kumho tarmac rally slicks it should handle very well.

If you have oval Strut holes then you should get the camber without the bolts which I think I read somewhere don't work with the oval holes I could be totally wrong but I'm sure someone will shed some light on it

The struts have the round holes mate.

Mods done so far...

milltek full exhaust
k+n filter
cobra suzuka pro seats
Totally stripped out,all brackets removed waiting for SD cage
bilstein coilovers with camber bolts
k-tec engine mounts and polybushed dog bone
tarmac rally cut slicks (soft/medium compound)
cup graphics
k tec front discs and pads
mintex rear discs and pads
fluid changes and braided lines
omp wrc wheel and boss


Now onto a remap....we live in the northwest,not far from chester.....

Can anyone recommend a mapper?....a rolling road printout would be great.

(heard of rs tuner remap?...is that a place? rolling road??
