UPDATE

After having a new exhaust mount fitted by Renault, my exhaust is still knocking. A friend kindly whipped my car on a ramp for me to have a look where its hitting. My car is lowered 60mm at the rear on V - maxx coileys, however every time I go over a bump the centre pipe is hitting my rear axle and its doing my head in. I dont really know my options (no bodge jobs)

If you remember I purchased a set of 4 Goodridge brake lines off eBay, however it turned out they were for a 197 and I sold them on. Lewis Taylor kindly sold me his set of 4 Goodridge brake lines for £22 posted and they are as good as new. I also have just purchased a 182 4-2-1 exhaust manifold from Nick's 182 that has covered 63k for £30 BARGAIN. I arranged a courier as the car was being broken at BTM in Birmingham and I live on the east coast. There is a french car specialist breakers called Cit Ren around 25 miles from me and they are going to fit the manifold for me. It will take around 3-4 hours labour I have been told as they are going to drop the subframe. I have just recently purchased a k-tec stainless steel silenced de cat for around £160 that I am going to have to sell on, as a shorter de cat link pipe is required when fitting the 182 manifold.

I am also looking to purchase the k-tec lightened flywheel and a new clutch as I want to get my gear box refurbed. Its only covered around 44k but I might as well if I decided to do the flywheel.

AND finally I am going to look into getting the TDF ITB setup hopefully during the summer. I said to myself if I get promoted at work to Technical Supervisor, I will treat myself to the ITB's. I had the interview for the position last week however me and the other candidates are waiting to see who they appoint so fingers crossed.

I am currently on the search for a interior dash cleaner as the phase 1 is blue and grey and all the products I have looked at turn the dash back to black if that makes sense so any suggestions would be great.

Some very choice mods going on this car :)

Can i recommended Power and Performance Norwich, with regards to the 182 manifold fitting, and he could probably make you a decat too, just thinking that may be a better idea as he could move your exhaust backwards or forwards for better clearance over your rear beam and the decat would be made to measure.

I had him shorten my decat link pipe done a good job :)

Absolutely gorgeous car mate! It really is perfect :)

The ONLY thing I'd do if it was my car, is de-wiper the back window!

Thankyou for the kind comments...

I have had a little re-think, I have decided to keep my car set up exactly how it is. I made my decision the other night when I opened her up for a change on the dual carriageway against a couple of other cars. I think my cars performance is breath taking and the sound is incredible. I paid alot of money to have the car set-up by one of best if not the best mapper in the country (Matt TDF) and I think it would be stupid to undo all his awesome work by fitting a 182 manifold and messing about with lightened flywheels. I think these modifications are worth while under the correct circumstances.

I noticed it may be time to fit my front brembo max grooved discs as I nearly ended up going over the roundabout instead of around it. I just need to purchase some Ferodo Ds performance pads to go with them. My car is booked in soon to have the Goodridge braided lines fitted so I may have the discs and pads fitted at the same time.

As it was such a nice day today I had to clean the car and give it a pamper as I felt bad for driving her hard the other night. As I had nothing better todo with my time today I took some pictures around my town after the car had been washed, dried and polished.

There a a couple of jobs that need doing on the car and they are:

Refurb alloys (my girlfriend was supposed to get these done for my x mas present but she lost her job conveniently lol)
Send 182 door mouldings and bullets to spray shack
Get a set of 195/45/15 Toyo T1r's but this can wait

I promised myself ITB's if I get the promotion at work to Technical Supervisor, however I am still awaiting feedback and I am very nervous.
Puremotorsport front strut brace.

All sounds great and the car looks awesome :) I really do love Ph1's!

I can really recommend Spray shack they do a great job and the service you receive is awesome they also do wheels so you could maybe save on postage by sending the strips and wheels to them :), Also the ITB kit is just EPIC aswell as the PMS Mounts and strut brace :) Enjoy!

Bad news

As you may know I was waiting to hear feedback from my interview for technical supervisor along with the other 8 candidates. After a 3 week wait I had a phone call to tell me I was unsuccessful and I will not be taken any further. This was a massive set back for me personally and my goals I had set myself at the beginning of the year. The recruiting team believed it was too early for me and I haven't gained enough experience. I need to sit down with my site manager and ask him to perhaps expand on the feedback as I can only assume they mean life experience as im only 24 and the other candidates were alot older. You can only take the feedback and build on it.

The mishaps didn't end there either, my girlfriend had a night on the town last night to celebrate her birthday with her friend. My girlfriend asked me to pick them both up but I couldn't as her friend is on the larger side and I never carry back seat passengers unless there female, hot and willing. Anyway I retuned home to an angry female (every mans worse nightmare) she opened my passenger door shouted abuse, I asked her kindly to f*ck off and she slammed my door real hard. Now my electric window does not work. She is lucky my back garden is brick weaved otherwise she would be asleep under it lol. The window went down but not up and now it doesn't work at all either way. Luckily I could pull the glass up by hand to secure it into position for the night.
Today I investigated by removing the door card to see the damage. The motor was in a birds nest so the first job was to untangle it all. I then tested the motor and it works both ways. I then removed the drivers side door card to see what it should look like. I could see a couple of clips that holds the top cable into position was broken. I am going to have to book it into Renault to have the problem corrected. My partner will brunt the full cost or shes out on the streets. I have left the door card off so the guys at Renault dont have to rip it all apart again.

My cars booked in tomorrow to have the front and rear braided brake lines fitted.

Despite not getting the job, in the next couple of months I am going to get the ITB's. It is something I have thought alot about and alot of people like in this thread have given them great feedback.

Bad luck with promotion. Seems they always want more experience than you always have in my experience, just use it as fuel to develop yourself.

Car looks really tidy :)

Update...

thanx for the encouragement, I need to stop looking at it as a complete failure and look at it as a success just by getting considered for an interview amongst candidates that are more than twice my age. Therfore I have decided to go ahead with the ITB's after speaking to Matt TDF this morning.

I dropped my car off this morning at a French car specialist to have the goodridge braided lines fitted. He then informed me it was last Monday the car was booked in for but he said he would get it in. I noted the mileage and left it with them. I then called Renault to have the car booked in for Wednesday to have the window repaired. I finally called Matt TDF to discuss the ITB package. I currently run 428 catcam shafts but I know with a stand alone ECU I can run more aggressive cams like Lewis Taylor's phase 1 (421ns). However Matt said with the cost involved it is not worth the money to chase approximately 5bhp depending on the healthyness of the engine. Matt went on to say I should make around 205bhp to 210bhp. My cars currently running at 192.4bhp. Now ive looked at the figures it seems alot of cost for not a huge amount of bhp. I just looked at the turbo conversions and will make a decision by the end of the day. I see Team Dynamics do a turbo conversion for £2800 that will make around 230bhp. Advice and comments welcome on this decision making

I called the guy earlier on and he said hes got a test car with the kit fitted, so i could have a test drive. However it works with the standard cams and I would need to replace my 428's back to the standard cams undoing all of Matt TDF's work. I dont know wether it will work with a decat as on the website it sais sports cat or standard cat. I searched for reviews on the kit on the forum and I could only find one. It states its reliable and faster than an ITB package as you would imagine with an extra 15bhp. The guy said the punch you get from this kit is well worth the money (the throw you in the back of the seat feeling).

However all the past threads ive read all say go ITB route and especially with someone as good as Matt fitting and mapping it all. Hes done such a good job so far and I would like to build on the set up so far rather than ripping it all apart again. Do you settle for 230bhp and a s**t load of torque with a turbo conversion or the ITB set up which I imagine will offer greater drivability if that makes any sense. I know my Type R was 197bhp and for a front wheel drive car the balance was just about perfect ????????? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Update

I have now got the goodridge brake lines fitted to the fronts and rears, the system has been bled and new brake fluid has been replemished. I have spoken to Matt TDF again and I am going to go with the ITB package. I am also going to go with the longer trumpets which means removing the air con and fitting a slim line radiator. The longer trumpets should give me a little more bhp and the car will be abit lighter without the air con. I will also beable to use the ITG filter with the backing plate which is the better than the one without a backing plate. The car is booked in on the 25th April and it will take roughly 3 days give or take.

It looks like I will need a new window regulator for my passenger door as confirmed by the garage earlier on today. I will let Renault sort that little number out on Wednesday. I may even take it to a breakers yard before tomorrow to see if they can resolve it and hopefully save a little bit of coin. I am currently on the search for a Cup air con delete kit, it will save me alot of money buying it new from TDF.

You'll love the ITB's no need for a turbo with your cams will be more than enough power! Remember these cars are alot lighter than the ep3's!!

Matt is right about the cams stick with what you have you'll be surprised how close your power will be to mine.

Update

As you may know my selfish girlfriend slammed my passenger door and as a consequence broke my regulator. Renault were going to charge me around £300 to diagnose, supply and fit the new part. However, Citren a breakers yard for Renaults, diagnosed, supplied and fitted the part for £30. A tenth of the price but obviously the part is second hand but its still genuine. Problem solved.

I am currently still searching for a genuine cup air con delete kit. I can get one for £150 posted complete with bolts and brackets etc but im holding out to see if I can get one cheaper. My car is really dusty at the moment so tomorrow I am going to give her a really good clean

Why not go for the pure motorsport cheaper air con delete kit for 145?

  ITB 428 Ph1
That could be an option, however Matt said the genuine cup set up is a better option as its easier to fit and it sits a bit lower down so it doesent foul anything. A guy has offered me his cup set up for £85, however he doesent know and I don't know what parts he would need to send me. Does anyone know ? Pictures and parts name would really help ?

Little update...

As you may know the car is booked in with Matt at TDF on the 25th April to have the ITB package installed. After reviewing the options, I decided to go with the longer trumpets. This meant that I would need to remove my air con and also fit a smaller radiator so they dont foul anything. It also allows me to run the ITG sausage filter with a backing plate which again is the better option.

Therefore I have been on the search for an air con delete kit. Matt advised me the best option was to get the air con delete set up out of a cup as they sit lower down in the engine bay. The puremotorsport kits are supposed to be very good as well but they sit a little higher and need a little bit of modifying. I was lucky to get a cup air con delete kit for £100 with the power steering line delivered BARGAIN.

As I have mentioned many times before, my exhaust is hitting my rear axle as the car is lowered 60mm at the rear. I had a new genuine renault exhaust mount fitted and it hasnt really made a difference, therefore today I purchased a prima racing rear exhaust mount as they are alot more rigid and have less tolerance. Hopefully this will illiminate the knocking everytime I go over the slightest bump in the road.

I also purchased a bottle of Poorboys natural interior cleaner today as I feel the autoglym product im using isnt that great. It had a lot of reviews and Im hoping its as good as what every once said.

Finally I purchased an ordinary sized front number plate as I think the skinny one looks gay.

My friend has just purchased a Megane RS something or other and Im hoping mine will be quicker, its 250bhp standard I believe. Real nice looking car

Also forgot to mention, I'm now getting round to changing those hideous p600 tyres, I managed to pick up 2x new Toyo t1r's 195/45/15 for £75. I'm pretty sure these will fit my 15" oz f1ns, just need to pick up another two from somewhere.

I read through your thread, nice car uve got there its coming along nicely.

Ive got a ph1 172 running ktec bodies, gen90 and catcams (421) and its great mate. You will love the sound of them, its a epic sound, you wont regret getting them fitted.

  Trafic 140dci
Correy if your old tyres are p600, do they have at least 3mm of tread? I know they aren't good tyres but I need one to make a full set.

Also the update sounds good you got a very cheap cup alternator setup there! :)

  ITB 428 Ph1
The 25th can't come soon enough, the tyres are still like new Lewis, I can sort you one out when the new ones go on but I'm not to sure when that will be as of yet buddy.

UPDATE

I had lots of parts turn up today and luckily I was off work to take receipt for them. First of all my two new Toyo T1R 195/45/15 tyres turned up followed by the air con delete kit I got off a guy breaking his 172 Cup on 48k. With the kit I got the two brackets (one big and one small) the cup alternator, a belt and all the fixings. He was kind enough to give me the power steering line all for £100 delivered. The parts needed a good clean so I sent the brackets to a local powder coater for shot blasting. I cleaned the alternator as best as I could removing all the dirt but I would like to get it shot blasted but I would risk damaging it. The belt has got to be replaced and K-tec are sending me one out tomorrow for around £20 as advised by Matt TDF. I then dropped lewis Taylor a PM asking him how he went about prepping and spraying engine components. He very kindly replied and told me how to go about it. After cleaning the power steering line and removing the dirt I gave it a spray with VHT black paint to tidy it up.

The standard sized plates from fancy plates arrived today but it had some kind of code printed on the bottom right hand corner which I didnt ask for. I wanted standard UK plates with just my registration on, im going to drop them an e-mail later on to enquire further.

Finally the Prima racing rear exhaust mount arrived today. Hopefully it will be rigid enough to stop my exhaust hitting my rear axle.

I am now ready for my trip to TDF for the ITB's on the 25th

Can't wait

Hi mate,

ITBs are going to be awesome.

The 'code' on your numberplate will be the BS reference which is required by law if your number plates are to be legal.
