My Clio 172 cup Track Car

  172 cup
ok well if having a 550+hp cosworth wasnt enough i have bought a 172 cup car to track/road fun. I decided if i wanted to do it i'd do it right but usable. so i bought my self a Caged 172 cup shell (off NICK172CUP) bare for a base!

We have got a doner car running ready to swap all the parts over to my car as the shell was just rolling shell But the shell currently has poly carb windows which i am swapping back to glass as i want leccy windows! Also going to get the top part of the dash flocked lower standard. Want to keep the dash standard too with the radio for some home comfort.

but in the mean time i have managed to source a few parts to make the car 'better'. Not got pics of everything just now but have carbon door cards front rear, cobra imola S seat for drivers, carpet and mats, ported and polished head, matched inlets, 182 manifold and decat + stainless exhaust, Group N ecu ... thats all off the top of my head but basically but i will add to it as time goes however i wanna keep things fairly basic IE std gearbox, engine (bar the head) so that were not going too far so really the spec it is now will probably stay as it is just get tweeked.

Looks like a basis of a great build! Will be keeping an eye! Good work

Much work being done engine wise?

As said i want it to be a usable road/track car so engine wise will be Standard bar the head. But i feel with the mods already purchased if i could see close to 200hp that would be fine for me the car will be just how i want it. only few changes i would like is better suspension and brakes but this can be sorted down the line is no real big issue to get it running and useable. I have a audi a3 tdi as my daily runner so this is just a toy.

and the doner running gear!

Hard to see whats been done but the car was basically bare i have had to literally strip every nut, bolt, wire and part from the doner car over to the track car and adding the uprated parts and dealing with the issues along the way! The engine and loom will be going in the week minus the head as we'll be fitting the ported one and the uprated parts, hoping to have the dash in too in the next week or two. Then its looking promising to be near road worthy!

more come soon im off to bed!

na i'm not number chasing i wanna get as close to 200 i can with what i have dont wanna spend big money just get it right and use it, so will just keep it to its current spec then get it rolling roaded see what we get :) if its 180 its 180

ok so few more pictures been a little while and we've been collecting parts doing bits on this as well as other cars, But we now have move ALOT closer all wiring is in and done rejoined soldered and heatshrunk all the earths connected and lower dash finished (bar needing to get a centre console) top part is off being flocked then it will look more finished. spoiler was removed so we could replumb in the washer and light. the front end was also complete until my mechanic nicked my headlight as he did a rally and smashed his so the light and front bumper are off again doh!

new brakes are fitted all round , Got uprated dampers and eibach springs on the rear now too, yozza exhaust, poly dog bone, The ported and polished head has been fitted up to the engine and the matched inlets, 182 manifold also. I will be relocating the battery at some point with a dry cell but theres no rush on that it can come after. Neil has fitted the main mechanics just gotta get the belts on the engine then it can be timed up and finished bolted up and plumbed in and then it will run (hopefully this week)

Top dash to be flocked, windows switches to sort, door pulls, need a few odds and sods like rear number plate light, tidy some wiring, fit the rear carbon cards.

Basically my mechanic and I struck a deal so he did the mechanical and all that stuff I just got it back today and have niggles to sort. Wanna move the battery and get a race one, uprated engine and top mounts, anti roll bar. Tidy a few body bits up and get the rims done anthercite Plus get my grp n ecu unlocked and fit that so yer plenty to do just do bit by bit :) its a cracking car tho. Neil was surprised how quick it is, said it's quicker than his however mine has a ported head unsure if it has cams as the head was bought off a mates brother who wrote his off? But he said its very quick and ill be very happy even more so when the ecu is fitted...
