how should a clio 16v feel

ok. had my clio 16v a month and a half now. its done 87k miles with fsh. before this car i owned a 1.3l escort f-reg which i drove for about 5 years. never changed the oil. nothing ever went wrong and when you drove it you new nothing would go wrong and it eventually rusted away around 150000miles.

now i have the clio im just wondering how the ride would compare to something like the escort. the clio is standard apart from exhaust and air filter but seems a lot more rattley, clunky and stiff compared to the escort.

my question is, is this just because its a performance car with everything tighter if you know what i mean?

looking around the posts on here ive noticed that my car is still on the original clutch, gbox, eng/gbox mounts etc where others have had them changed way before this mileage. could this have something to do with the overall feel of the car.

vague topic i know. :)

lol. i comute and work in mosambique. fatherted im of for a kip as its 4.14am and ive had a fair few beers and a smoke. id advise the same

ah well. me car gos like a train so i shouldnt grumble. just need to stop worrying about the high limiter on these motors and me engine blowin up

the only thing id be worried about on urs m8 is cam belt.......make sure its been changed....hopefully the previous owner had it done at 72K !!....if not..get it done..........presto !!

Yeah, check that the cambelt has been done. I wouldnt worry too much if the other bits have lasted - I always hear about gboxes going at 60k, whereas mine is fine on 99k (flatmates was replaced at 130k after a flood wrecked it!).

The 16v is a very stiff and harsh riding car - it rolls a fair bit less than a 172. I would possibly invest in some new front suspension top mounts, anti-roll bar bushes, ball joints and possibly some new shock to make things as Renault intended.

theres an invoice from reno for a full service at 62k which included cam belt change. £272 for full service and cam belt which is a bargain for reno. was a welsh dealers mind :) the car did 20k last year from prev owner which was all mway driving so the clutch has prob lasted well.

think i will get round to changing some of the suspension ,wheel bits swhen i get another trolley jack cos im buggered if i can get the thing in the air with one of em. :D
