Fitting Clio 182 Cup knuckles/hubs into Ph2 Clio 172 (non-Cup)

  172
Right...

Have I opened up a can of worms??

Basically bought a some uprated suspension off a 182 Cup (was a bargain!!)

Already knew the knuckle bolt spacing was different,
so the seller included the 182 Cup knuckles as part of the deal..

Now my question is this;

If I simply bolt the knuckle assembly on,
retaining all my stock 172 (non-Cup) lower arms, track rods etc

Will my 172 (non-Cup) driveshafts work?

Or will they be to short?

From what I can work out, the 182 Cup knuckle assembly runs a bigger bearing,
and a slightly different ackerman angle;
but the actually total track should remain the same.

In which case the stock shafts should be fine.

Already stripped the knuckles down and sent them off to be powder coated..
and new 182 Cup bearings and 172 ABS sensors are on order...

So I hope I can make this work!!! :race:

  Hi comp phase 1
Hi... What was the out come ? Did they fit ok ? Or was there problems with abs sensors etc ?
Cheers

Hi guys,

Anyone able to help?

I've read a few different thread so confident that it's just a matter of fitting the 182 cup hubs, maybe the 172 abs sensors and the 182 cup track rods and that's all to be able to fit 182 60mm struts.

But would be good to get a straight "yes" before I buy all the bit and start pulling it apart.

  Hi comp phase 1
Yep.. I've got 182 cup hubs going on my phase 1 172.
All abs sensors are the same.
Phase 2 drive shafts
182 Cup track rods
60mm spacing struts

I've not fitted it all yet but will be soon

Awesome, thanks for the reply.

Phase 2 drive shafts

I know the 182 and 172 driveshafts are different. And the 172 Cup drive shafts are longer.
So is it any Ph2 drive shaft? Therefore the Ph2 172 (non cup) drive shafts are fine with the 182 Cup hubs? I just fitted new drive shafts (Ph2 172 non cup) so don't really want to change them.
What's the difference with the Ph1 drive shafts? Is it the spline?

Thanks,
Nathan.

  Hi comp phase 1
They are phase 2 non cup drive shafts. I'm pretty sure all phase / drive shafts are the same length even on the cup cars. I maybe wrong but think there is also a soils or two piece shaft on the near side?! But not 100% on that one.
Phase one shafts are shorter same spline as the phase 2.

  Hi comp phase 1
That's supposed to be

All phase 2 drive shafts are the same non cup and cup.

Some phase 2 have a 2 piece drive shaft on the near side..I'm not 100% on this..I'm sure someone can confirm this.
