EBC Green Stuff pads



  clio 172 cup
Do a search m8. There are loads of threads about the greenstuff pads. Alot of mixed opinions really. Most people seem to go for ferodo's though
 
I have them on my 172ff c/w Brembo Max Discs and they seem ok for general road and fast road use unless you give it real s**t where they fade.

I've had this a few times :(

Either that or i boiled my brakes :(

I've heard they aint any good on the track :(

They go to quick :( and your better with yellow or red stuffs.

I am gonna try Ferodo 2500 (can't remember exact model number) next and compare them to the Ebc Greenstuffs when they wear out. ;)
 
Ok once warm, combined with hoses and HT fluid they are more than capable under track conditions.

You must drive like my gran mate. I just use my 172 cup on the road and there is so much brake fade in the greenstuff its unreal. I changed to Mintex 1144 pads and 8 months on I'm still well happy.

Nearly killed me at castle coombe in my old scirocco! Pedal hit the floor at the end of the straight, Steer well clear unless you drive slow.. That was with motul fluid too! New calipers and ATE Discs.. They are more of a 'Ripspeed' level of tuning..

Go with Ferrodos if you want performance..
Mintex are very close in terms of performance too.. 1144 or 1155 's

i wouldn't put Greenstuff pads on my push-bike never mind my car cos they are utter sh!te imo. my mate had them on his car and where we live (valleys) they were useless.

go for either Mintex 1144s or Ferodo DS2500 as they are very good (i'm running Ferodo's now)

if you want to plump for even more stopping power a set of Pagid Blue's should do the trick

Fine for a stock/slight improvement replacement but no mad track/hammer pad.

Proof that Greenstuff pads are utter w**k. I just use my cup for road use and wouldn't use greenstuff again. My brake setup as follows:
Front: Brembo discs, mintex 1144 pads
Rear: K tec cross drilled discs, EBC heavy duty kevlar pads
Goodridge stainless steel braided hoses all round.

Since someone recommended the mintex pads and brembo max discs to me (cough*Andy Cutler*cough) I haven't looked back. Infact I was going to order the 4 pot brake conversion from GDI, but he said as I only use the car for road he can't see the point and saved me a couple of hundred quid. Top fella!

Had greenstuffs on my 172, they where great, seem to last for ages to, but also got them on my new 182 and they feel crap!

If I find them ok on the track then I'm sure they will be more than adequate on a 95 Clio Oasis under road conditions.

I'm speaking from my own experience and setup which seems to work for me so you might want to go roll your eyes elsewhere tbh...

Maybe it's just that can balance my car better without having to rely on the brakes :p

I've had Greenstuff on my old Rover Turbo and they were s**t hot!

I also had them on an Xr3i I had and they were complete s**t. The pad fell off the backing!!

Just bought some Yellows for the M3.

I've run Greenstuff on standard discs, hoses, fluid etc for the past 12k. Driven the car very hard on the road many times and only suffered significant fade once. Admitably the stopping power is not massive to start off with! but I found them adequate for fast road stuff and a marginal improvement over stock pads. Never tested them on track.

I am upgrading to Ferrodo DS2500s' now though so take from that what you will ;)

Old greenstuff were sh*t, had them on a Escort and the cracked and lasted about 7k.

Put them on the 172 with Brembo HC discs and they worked very well on the road.

I used the same set up @ bedford and it was fine, Ds2000 are better but nothing wrong with Greenstuff
 
don't know why but there seems to be massive variation (from all sorts of sources) about Greenstuffs. not tried any on the Clio but had several sets on my last car (205 - due to the mileage i did in it - not premature pad wear) and i really liked them. they stood up very well to hard use on track i thought. they're cheap and create much less dust than others, too.

i'd happily try some in the Clio but there must be something in the wildly variable reports you read - may be quality control isn't great and i've just been lucky with the sets i used?

Because I want something better. If they were really that s**t I would of had a major fade problem. But I did'nt. :)

it's probably a factor; i used to brake fairly late and hard (ie. briefly) in the 205; it's also a (marginally) lighter car

Had them on mine for a while now and can't really fault them. Coupled with some brembo discs and braided lines it's been a really good setup.

Brembo HC's and Greenstuff brilliant in my opinion. Can stop me going from 100 to cornering speeds on the last chicane at Snetterton well enough which is not too shabby IMHO!

Seems weird about mixed reactions though?! Dodgy batch?!? lol!
 
Hey I tried Carbon Lorraines at Donington today.

Performed awesome, zero fade and I could of braked later and deeper just about everywhere.

On the road, no chance. Not practical, way too much squeal!

well i got paid yesterday so i might get a set of mintex and some greenstuff for a comparison then use whichever i find the best for my driving style.

i had them on my old 1.2 16v and even under hard track use they were fine with braided line and decent fluid.

got them on the 172 and not had it on track yet but on hard road use they start to fade but not that bad for a fast road pad" low brake dust and last ages

Worth doing as I really think part of the problem is some pads work well with certain driving styles etc. so it kind of depends on how you drive it.

I'd save the cash and go with the Mintex, but hey it's your hard earned. My mate has a set of them carbon lorraines from ktec racing and there is quite alot of squeal coming from his too. I only get a minimum amount of squel in the 1144's right at the end of braking to a stand still.

He will have to bed the pads in so will be a long term test.

Green stuff are fine for me...... I dont feel the need to change them.

And im the one who once cracked carbon discs with 97' friction pads!!! So dont tell me i drive like a granny! ;)
