Looks good Chris.

Cheers Mark.

Good stuff, mate. Another top job by Dan and the car sounds as if it's running lovely on those cams.

Thanks Andy, yea Dan has done a cracking job. What i should of done is come up to Wales after picking it up and had the day out with FullyFuelled.... Missed out there.

The cams have made a noticeable difference judging from the play we had joining the M27. It definitely has a lot more top end power now so I reckon you'll make 185+ at SRR.

I'm going to Rentech on Thursday so if @Cub. brings the brakes to the Nando's meet I can drop them off at your house @Christopher.

You two are the best xx

Tiny update. Got some Cup wishbones from a member last week, still not planning on doing the suspension refresh until much later in the year but i can work on them slowly and probably get them powder coated along with the Cam Cover/Engine Mount and the spare Inlet i have in the garage. Then before the summer have the engine bay up to standard and looking fresh. Also i got a new toy :)

Did you find out what was causing the misfire mine is similar to how you described...

Dan couldn't find anything when doing the Cams but if it shows again at the SRR day il get it straight to Rentech for Mike to look at.

Sadly iv made a bot of a c**k up with my dates. For the SRR day il actually be flying out to Austria ! But @Fletcher has kindly agreed to take the car for me instead :)

Grab a cup of tea.......

With getting my dates mixed up with SRR and a holiday i wasn't going to make the rolling road day. It was a shame i missed it as iv been to the past few and had an great day, Was looking forward to it as well. The holiday was brilliant though. A couple of weekends before me and @TimR26 went to SRR to see what our cars were putting down. Tim had just had his timing checked and corrected and i hadn't run mine since the Cams were installed. The car felt much faster than standard and i was confident. When we arrived some of the guys from 16Valver were there running a couple of there cars. We had only just seen them a few months before hand were my car ran 174.9 BHP. Tim was up first and ran very well. The timing correction had done wonders for the car, figures were very impressive and it wasn't even mapped yet...... Hopes for mine were high.

16599659792_05994c4d82_z.jpg

The first run the car was cold, i don't think Charlie didn't take it far over 6k. He sat it on the rollers for a bit warming up the engine and went for run number 2. This time it went all the way to the 7600k limit, 178.9. My heart sank a little i admit. Run 3 ran the same power then Charlie shut it off, the car was now too hot. He got it off and said the inlet temps were too high to run it again, then the AFR printout came through.

16599640282_9513f87f3d_z.jpg

As you can see something wasn't right. Everyone's thoughts turned to the map on the car, Charlie said he felt the car could defiantly do a 185 once it was sorted and said it felt great. On a plus note the misfire had gone completely. Dan hadn't replaced anything as he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it anyway. It felt just as quick on the way home as it did the day i picked it up from Dan. Feeling confused i got it home and contacted Dan straight away. He said drop it off and he would look at it straight away. Only one problem, when to get it too him ? The weekend after was the track day at Bedford that i was going to go to but in the end didn't. And the next weekend id be flying out to Austria. I was planning to go to Bedford and drop the spare key off to Dan as he was attending as well and then somehow drop the car off some when 😊 Sadly @Cub. couldn't make it and as i was going up with him i decided to not go either therefor giving me some time to get the car to Dans unit. The Friday before i dropped the keys off to Tim who was going in place of oli and could then give Dan the keys and on the Saturday me and my Dad drove down to drop the car off.

The day before i was flying out Dan gave me a ring. He had spent some time on the car and couldn't find anything what so ever wrong with the map ! AFR's were as they were when it left him last time, nothing was wrong. He said he would adjust it a tiny bit to help it out but there wasn't much he could do... After coming back from skiing i needed to pick it up but thankfully (not so much for Tim) he was dropping his R26 off at Dans and in turn picked mine up. I got it back today and the car feels amazing. It runs alot better from cold now and it really does get moving far better through the rev range now. Me and Tim feel it has to be well in the 180's power wise. Not too sure what to think about the fact the misfire has gone or the fact that the AFR's seemed to be off and then fine ?? It has me rather confused.

The cars got some new breaks coming soon thanks to Cub and also some extra engine parts i had lying around have been powder coated and are waiting to go on. Think i will get the paintwork sorted during the summer and also the nasty little dent near the rear light. A massive thanks to Tim for helping out with everything the past month, also to Cub for the breaks and Dan for sorting the car.

Bring on the Ring next month :)

I tested it properly and it feels very strong to me so hopefully it'll make the figures. I've only got vague memories of my Monaco 172 to compare to but it seems to pull much harder to the limiter. The in gear acceleration is fantastic and I didn't feel like I needed to use the full rev range all the time to make progress. It accelerates well from 70 in 5th so it's definitely got the torque.

Think I'll take the R26 back to SRR next Saturday to see how much difference the 250 hybrid turbo makes. It should hopefully make more than 315bhp now.

Here's what it looked like straight after. Forgot to say Chris you need to clean your arches better, half a field came out from under them!

They wont be going on for a few months yet. Got a list as long as my arm with what is needed to freshen the engine bay up.

Also my Radio display is broken so before i tackle the breaks on Saturday im off to raid the scrapyard.

So got the Radio display swapped over to find its just the bulbs in the back of the unit that have gone, nipped down to Halfords and got some new ones and hey presto.

16968052871_48da1b6abd_z.jpg

Also got the breaks swapped over but require some more work as we found one of the slider bolts is letting in water so was stuck solid but after some work with a hammer it came out, also we didn't shave enough of the metal off the pad as the breaks are constantly sticking and at low speeds the car slows down a lot. As i needed to look at the horn and also take the CAF pipes out i jacked the car up on axle stands and took the bumper off, i stupidly balanced the bumper on our little storage box in the garden and went in to watch qualifying on Saturday. Came back out to find it on the floor :cry:

Well i should of been updating this with news about the Ring trip but the car had other ideas the week before  It looked to me like a UCH fault as there were some strange things happening to the dash. If you indicated right the fog bulb in the dash lit up. If you indicated right with the Cruise Control on the CC shut off. I spent the rest of the week and weekend contemplating storing it and tackling it later in the year. After thinking about it and realizing i was me trying to diagnosing my own faults and thinking better of it i got it booked in with Rentech to see what was going on. Mike got straight on it and found it to be a earthing fault with the rear lights, So after 2 new rear lights and a wiring kit Mike had it all sorted. Gutted i missed what promised to be a decent trip, Also gutted i let @Fletcher and @TimR26 down as well.. Sorry guys.

Ever since doing the breaks im going to try tidy up little bits and pieces on the car that need sorting, im still compiling the list now ! So something easy to start with. Tidy up the dent on the rear quarter panel next to the lights. There has been a few unsightly black marks near where the dents were that draw the eye to the problem so decided to get rid of them. Used a bit of clay and some AF Triple to get it off and have ended up with a very nice a shiny dent :)

Next on the list is to sort out the disgusting state of the seat belts, Any ideas ?

Got another small job sorted this week. Matching the centre caps with the refurbished alloys i had done last August. Took the alloys down to Express Paints in Portsmouth to get a can matched up and some lacquer. It came to £16 so in total the whole refurb cost me £96 !!! The match isn't 100% but its very very close.

I got the wheels powder coated by the chap in Bristol who charges £80 a set Paul. He couldn't do the caps as it would require a wet paint that he didn't do as part of the service.

Wales 2015.

Went up to Wales with some of the other SC guys. Had an amazing time and a lot of fun. Car was utterly impossible to fault..... Iv come to the conclusion it doesn't need anything more done to it (other then refreshing what is already there) The work done by @Dan@SJM really came in to its own up on the Welsh roads. There is power absolutely everywhere throughout the rev range in every gear. The power delivery is so smooth its so much easier to drive quickly now. On the drive home the car clicked over 75000 miles, got a fair few plans in the pipeline starting with refreshing the brakes. Need to grab some more bits of @Cub. and @Fletcher to complete the brakes and the final parts to finish the engine bay.

Looks great mate.

Good hear Wales was a result might have to gate crash 2016 if I'm still in the flower

Nice thread. I read it because I have a petrol blue 182 in the fleet too, so it's nice to see what others are doing to theirs. I also read the supercharged thread.

I'll be interested to see who does your front end respray, because the bonnet on mine is starting to chip.

Regarding cleaning the seatbelts, I'll be following what this guy did when j come to do mine.

Towards the end of the page.

Glad to hear you're happy with the package, it's certainly seemed popular (sold 10 of them!) but supply issues have really been a fault with them so I won't be offering them again unfortunately.

Update time.

Without planing too iv bought forward my plans on getting the car up to standard. Was going to wait until the end of the year and do it all over the winter. Went to my mates garage just to have a look at there new mk1 Escort and ended up driving away without the front bumper. Hes now blending in the scratches from when i had the jump incident and also the recent scratches when i fell over. As the car was sat at home i also decided to get the remaining bolts out and off to get Zinc plated. Now there back i think i should of gone for a coloured Zinc instead of standard silver, will wait and see once everything is back together. Also just waiting on the last of the powder coated parts to come back and then it can all be rebuilt.
