Advice before buying clio sport cup

Hi, could anyone give me some advise?

Looking to buy clio sport cup at a reasonable price due to some faults.

Don't mind minor faults but need to find out if this type of problem is worth buying the car.

Knocking from top cam, had oil in engine (i know this is never a good sign, poss head gaskett) apparently the chap says it's the top cam (as there is a vague knocking noise from the engine, or its replacing of valves/sims....

Any advise please......

Not the reply i was looking for, but thanks for being honest. Would it be a new engine or what would it cost to replace?

Depends how bad the knocking is could be just the dephaser knackard how much you looking to spend on one

About 1400, but done over 90k...02 plate....if it is worse case of valves/sims...what would that cost

Would'nt bother look for one thats running ok and had cam and aux belts done.

Depends if your doing it yourself or a garage is doing it I would say Walk away unless it's super cheap

first off, "top cam".............WTF is a top cam????

the guy selling clearly knows very little so disregard whatever he's said and get someone knowledgeable to gave a look at the car in person for you

If it is the depahser you'd be encouraged on here to have the belts and service etc all done at the same time and it's not cheap. Have a look on here at the specialist to geta rough price on average touch ups to make sure its running better.

I personbally wouldn't even think about that motor again though :/

Depends where it stops on its duration or if you're looking from the front, it's the one furthest away at a guess. Failing that it's the opposite to the bottom cam and it's connected by a sky hook.
Think the cambelt might have been replaced with a cabletie or two.

Thanks for your replies. Have an update, engine ticks (not loud) when cold but pulls really well....does this info help?
