    I assume when you say you've checked for anything obvious, you checked the bulb...? If the bulb is fine then could be a break in one of the wires providing the circuit for the centre brake light.

    As you say, if there's enough sticking out then you can use the mole grips. If not then you can try chiseling it round by hitting the outside edge anti-clockwise. If that doesn't work, you could try drilling a small indent into it and then hit a torx bit into it. If none of that works you'll...

    Although it's stripped out, should still have it in the very middle in front on the gear stick, pointing downwards.

    Diagnostic plug (as long as nothing's been moved) should be under the ashtray at the bottom of the centre console mate. Pull the ashtray out and plug should be directly under it.

    Could be a number of things mate, possibly valve stem oil seals or piston rings (on number one if that's supposedly the affected one)

    If the O2 sensor is faulty as the diagnostic reader says then yes it will provide false readings causing the engine to fuel incorrectly. :approve:
