An observation I've made is that it's not so much the damping, or spring rates that seem to affect the ride and noise (going full hard or full soft on the damping, changes nearly nothing). It seems to me that the surface of the road and the "ruttiness" of the road, makes the biggest difference...
Hey guys,
So I've run KW Variant 2's with Pure Motorsport top mounts. On track this setup is amazing. However due to a move, I'm now living in an inner city area with shitty (really bad) roads. Over lumpen surfaces, the noise and vibration is doing my head in. It really means you can't drive...

Should be noted, Clio's and 205's are VERY rare over in Australia. Not like you pommies who see them everywhere. I've seen 2 other 205 GTI's in 5 years on the public road.
Good. No problems with them. Take your sweet time to measure those holes. They don't really add any harshness to the ride, but they do add a much more immediate feel to the steering.
KW Variant 2's (lowest at the rear, as low as I can go on the front to keep driveshafts parallel and avoid rubbing),
Pure Motorsport solid top mounts,

Camber bolts on front,

Hi guys,
This is my Clio 182. Went for a drive with some friends the other night and accidentally overshot a corner, understeered into a ditch and scraped my passenger door. Decided to have it detailed to see if they could fix the damage. Results speak for themselves I think:
UPDATE:
Turned out to be my control arm nutswere incorrectly torqued. They have 2 nuts, and I think I may have overtightened one, causing the other one to undo itself. Apparently it was quite difficult to find with the car on a lift.
Good calls. I looked at your video of the steering rack play, and mine is different, It's more of a... twangy knock. And it only occurs with the left wheel on the ground. All my mounts are replaced with uprated polybush ones (or Vibratechnics). Lower dogbone, upper gearbox, upper engine.
I did up a huge thread on the Australian RS forums, but basically the symptoms are as follows:
Occurs when braking, then again when taking off almost 100% of the time. It occurs in two's. So if it didn't happen under braking, then it doesn't happen under acceleration.
Occurs over bumps...
Jon, just finished reading your thread. Did you end up solving the knocking issue? Also, how much was the steering rack, and how much did it improve things? My steering rack seems to be a likely culprit in a severe knock I have - it feels very grindy, shudders at a standstill, and feels a bit tired.
Seanyboii does it sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZpbKZmEVH_o
I have the same thing, and the same symptoms. My steering also doesn't self center much either. No idea what it is now.
Hey wisey02, I have a similar issue. In particular, the bit about it feels like something moves out of place, then back into place when taking off and braking. I'm still no closer to solving the issue.
Hi guys,
Issue been plaguing me for months.
When I go over bumps at certain angles, when braking and then accelerating again, I get a knock. It's almost like the engine moves forward and hits something. Its very annoying.
Any ideas where to begin looking? It occurred after I changed my...
Hmm okay. So I've been reading, and apparently people have been getting knocking from using 10mm bolts instead of 12mm bolts. I bought my wishbones from K-Tec (http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4184&appid=2). What is the chance I have 10mm bolts in, instead of 12mm? What car uses...
Hi guys,
I replaced my entire wishbone assembly the other day and I've had knocking ever since. I took it to a shop and they said the bottom ball joint was loose. Then when driving home it made the same knocking (during braking and acceleration). I am going to pop under the car and have a look...
Hmm okay. Is there anyway to diagnose that? How do people normally diagnose things like this? My driveshaft is kinda had it anyway (accidentally split a inner cv seal and it's leaking a little now). Where on the driveshaft would it be knocking? Would there be any signs of metal on metal or marks?
Hey guys,
So I still have this clunking. It happens over potholes when the strut is fully extended. I also have a weird click/grind that occurs when you pitch the car into a right hand corner and the weight shifts left. It's almost like the engine clicks into place. I am getting tired of it...
I didn't. I've run mine like yours is pictures for the past 20k no problems. I image shortening it MAY increase the leverage force a tiny bit (as the distance from rotational center to the mounting point is a bit shorter), but nothing like as noticeable as going to the harder setting.
Keith. Could you possibly post a "more detailed then usual" photo set from when you install Yanoo's linkage? In particular, how you get the gearstick and assembly out with the cat in the way.
Love this car, because of the attention to detail.
The best setup is the AST rear coilover (a proper coil-over-spring, rather then the way everyone else does it with a conventional spring and damper). Has a lot of adjustment.
I would recommend a Koni yellow adjustable with either the KW spring or Eibach SportLine.
Hi guys,
Track day with about 10 very easy laps, car not being pushed very hard. My friend was driving, and the car just stalled in 1st gear idling in the pitlane. It turns over, but never fires. It was recently serviced. We checked for fault codes, but there were none. Tried starting it half...
That's what I thought it could be, but I had a look today and I couldn't see any damage or play. How much movement are we talking, that could generate a knock? 1mm? Is there a good way to diagnose the track rods, ends and ball joints? Like a technique?
I am interested in buying some Recaros for my 182. Ideally I would get some Trendlines and walk the beaten path. But I'm also interested in am SR3's. Any idea if there are rails available that will fit these?
