Ive owned a Phase 1 and a 172 cup and IMO if your budget will stretch to a decent Cup, this is the one to buy. Having test driven a few full fat 172's before taking the plunge on the Cup I will agree that the throttle response in a phase 1 is drastically quicker than in a FF. I did not find the...
I would be up for showing my face at a black mountain run. I usually do my hooning on a Sunday morning when the roads are quiet. Maybe a South East Wales meet on the B4560?
Is there plenty of tread left on your front Tyres? My cup was a mess of torque steer when I got it o half worn "event" Tyres. Changed to the standard fit continental sport contacts at the correct pressure and it transformed the car!
I know the OP has managed it now but for anyone else needing help there is. Guide on here, http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?458557-Electric-Window-Mechanism-Replacement
I followed the guide and it is not that difficult. Worst part is removing the door card!

I've had three and theyve all been great in their own way. I've had...
1999 Clio RN 1.2 8v
2000 Renaultsport Clio 172 phase 1 2.0 16v
2002 Renaultsport Clio Cup 2.0 16v
Cup drives the best, phase 1 looked the best, 1.2 was good fun for what it was!
yeh im going for an "OEM" look with it. Just want the cup splitter it should have come with originally. The wheels and all the rest of it are staying exactly as Renault intended!
Just posting to say hello as ive finally got around to renewing my CS membership. Ive been on here a few years but my membership ran out and I didnt renew when I had to get rid of my Phase 1 172 due to repair costs and had to make do with a Saxo VTS(great cars) for 8 months. After splitting from...
They would be on the car as a set of track wheels, the turinis are fine for road. If adaptors are a bit much effort I will have to flog the VTs rims and get some cheap used alloys for track.
Looks like they are going to have to go on eBay.
Hi all,
As title says, I have a set of VTS alloys from my old Saxo and was wondering what I would need to fit them to my 172 cup. Will hub adaptors do the job, and if so will they be strong enough for track use?
Thanks
Tom
There is quite a difference between the two but i would'nt open that can of worms mate! Im sure when people buy either they make an informed choice and are aware of each cars strengths and weaknesses.
Having owned a phase 1 previously when I went on the hunt for my next Clio I tried quite a few...
It will be the end of the Hot Hatch love affair for me if this happens, definitely the end of the RS Clio's being held in such high regard. For me a proper hot hatch is light and nimble with a free revving naturally aspirated engine, not a lightly breathed on Mid size family hatch with an off...
Just had my renewal through for my 172cup. I have been shopping around and cant seem to get it much lower than £1200 a year. I have 5 years no claims and no accidents but i do have 6 points (1 sp30 conviction) for a rather stupid act at the Evo triangle.
I need to have comprehensive cover...
I go over to France a couple of times a year and havent bothered switching the lights over, just dont drive at night!
as post above states take all that stuff. In my oppinion of France the police have been very friendly towards foreigners esp when they see the clio sport. Have driven past...
Are they the same caps as off any other Renault wheels or are they exclusive to the f1 wheels? Might keep an eye on eBay.can't afford dealership prices ATM!

My phase 1 danced all over a GTA on track, 1*2 has no chance in a straight line but the alfa has around 250bhp and no slippy diff, no worrys getting past one out of a bend or pulling on them through the corners.

Have been on track today at llandow, nearing the end of the day my ABS+SERV lights have illuminated on the dash.disks and pads are a week old so they should be fine and braking feels normal. Did loose q bit of brake fluid during the day due to it boilin over. Is this likely to be the reason for...
is it noticeably quicker to respond then? is it true that a fly-by-wire throttle can override what you do with your right foot? i read somewhere that say for example you were driving up a steep hill at 20mph in 5th that the computer on the car would ignore you flooring the accelerator pedal?
Why is a cable throttle such an advantage?not a challenge but a question. everyone says that a throttle cable is better (even this months performance french cars mag) but why are they better?
