new servo and mastercylinder from a mondeo -

IMG_2259.jpg

going to be fitting it tomorrow if it doesnt rain too much.

also new front wheel bearing -

IMG_2260.jpg

will fit that when i get time.

and these arrived today only 20hours after paying for the direct from David Newman yesturday-

IMG_2261.jpg

Newman Ph3's, missed out on the group buy on xrtwo so contacted Newman and he still gave me abit of discount but not as much as the group buy unfortunatly...

Should see some nice gains of around 20bhp & lbsft but all down to the timing obviously, im going to fit them as soon as my timing kit arrive off ebay, time them upto standard then take it to Mikeanics for mapping and timing set up properly!

  JDM Dc2
decided to throw the cams in, this is how it is atm until my locking pin arrives so i can do the timing spot on, atm it turns over by hand great but not gonna start it till i know the timing spot on standard

IMG_2265.jpg

also managed toi get my R888s swapped over as ive sold the pepperpots now

IMG_2264.jpg

  JDM Dc2
Up and running now, sounds sweet as a nut, didnt on first few attempts to start it tho my starters fcuked!

Mapping booked for Monday! :)

  JDM Dc2
made 180bhp with standard timing, advanced the inlet cam slightly and came away with 187bhp @ 6800rpm and 148lbs ft...

he said he couldve stretched 190bhp but didnt want to be to blame if anything went wrong i.e valves bending... so need the cams timing up with a DTI gauge to get the max out of them, also notched the limiter down to 7300rpm...

im happy it'll do for now got a list of things to do atm being brakes, starter, exhaust manifold need a braket welding to support it as im going to heatwrap it again, rocker cover breather moving position etc etc...

  JDM Dc2
swapped my servo and mastercylinder today... old one removed -

IMG_2274.jpg

new one fitted after altering and re-drilling the mounting bracket for the bottom 2 threads on the back of the servo and spacing the top 2 threads so the reservoir sits level, and bend the brake linesto suit the new positions -

IMG_2279.jpg

then after topping up with fluid then went into the car to press the brake and noticed this -

IMG_2276.jpg

no not that my interior floor is filthy... notice that my brake pedal is around 3'' lower that it should be, this is because after finding out after i fitted the servo and MC is that the bar that comes out of the back of the servo is around 25mm shorter than the standard one, so had to remove it all again and now going upto my mates tomorrow to have that extended, i would mod the braket but thatd needed chopping and welding too and my fuel pressure regulator is mounted right behind the servo so to save moving that and removing the brackets ill just extend the servo bar 25mm.

  JDM Dc2
had the bar/fork extended on the back of the servo yesturday, all fitted up and brakes bled now and what a difference, press the peddle and boom, happy days!

also gave it a service after its had a hard years abuse changed the oil & filter and spark plugs!

  JDM Dc2
sound dont really have any problems with it *touches wood* just the breathing on track still, ermm... brake lines and rear drums, think thats it lol.

Been upto a mates time my cams up with a DTI Gauge...

IMG_2281.jpg

they wernt far out at all, inlet was 2.5degrees out exhaust was 4 degrees out... all back together defo feels a tad quicker now, proper screams its head off above 5000rpm, just need to try get it in with Mike to get the map tweaked to suit and see what shes producing now, dunno when tho as he doesnt open weekends.

also FRS disc hubcaps?

IMG_2282.jpg

  JDM Dc2
lovin the brakes atm, such a massive difference with the mondeo servo and mc, in the dry it stops on the spot, when its wet it locks up very easy!

also booked it in for mapping at RS Tuning next saturday now i've had the timing done with a DTI gauge.

got a heatermatrix this week, it arrived yesturday so thought id fit it today whilst it wasnt raining for once...

only took 15mins to change, when i re-bled it all i removed the hose that links back from the matrix into the lower rad hose off the waterpump until it was flowing out of the hose so then i knew the matrix was full... re-fitted the hose, bled the radiator with the bleed screw... then went in to check the new matrix before re-clipping up the dash... the matrix is all red-hot so thats good, but my heater is only a tad bit better...

maybe becasue of my thermostat which is a low temp 88degree one and i drilled 3x 5mm holes init for extra cooling/flow when on track... ideally think i just need a new stat then just drill one hole init but then the slight rise in coolant temp when on track hammering it will alsop rise the oil temp a tad so think im just going to leave it as it is tbh.

Ordered some 10mm spacers that come with longer bolts from Rally Design earlier this week... arrived yesturday now fitted, 5mm vs 10mm -

IMG_2289.jpg

IMG_2290.jpg

fitted -

IMG_2292.jpg

tried on a track wheel to see how it is with them on -

IMG_2284.jpg

IMG_2285.jpg

think ill stick to 3mm spacers on for track so the tyres clear the shocks (as they were rubbing ever so slightly at oulton in November without spacers on now ive set the camber to max) as i cba removeing the arches and modyfying to be able to run the 10mms on track.

RS Tuning Tomorrow!

they'd have been a steal...

so...

before and after, fuelling was very close to spot on, ignition was miles out he said it was dettin very slightly, so them sorted and my idle finally sorted we have -

IMG_2297.jpg

big thanks to paul!... if i went back to Mikeanics without a doubt i recon itd be over 190bhp from the way it feels and drives now... just shows how much Rolling Roads are out...

either way im very happy, feels awesome, Bring on the first trackday of the year in 5 weeks!

  JDM Dc2

New 88degree thermostat fitted, now have a fully working heater and also better for the engine that it now reaches the correct temperatures unlike the drive to leeds on saturday when the needle didnt move off cold lol

  JDM Dc2
So... Oulton park tmoz!

Car cleaned, all fluid levels bang on as always, tank and both jerry cans full, car packed with wheels n tools etc, it's funny how its no lower than normal with 100kgs+ more weight over the rear wheels, 450lb springs ftw!

It's mad as im just as excited about tmoz as i was for my first trackday 2 1/2years ago lol, looking forward to testing out the brakes and with the added power since the last trackday at Oulton in November!

  JDM Dc2
haha, i tried i tried!

Unfortunatly no vids this time but afew mates took aload of pics!

Day went well, got some brilliant sesions in in the afternoon when it was totally dry line after being went for the forst 2-3hours! car was brilliant yet again only thing was the wheel bearing finally gave up and collapsed, its been humming/vibrating for ages but ive been putting it off changing it so now it needs doing as theyres like 10-20mm play lol, at least i got it home! also need uprated brake fluid as the pedals spongey again but the brakes themselves were brilliant and no vibrating dash anymore, winner!

Don't think anybody was pushing as hard as you today mate! ha. Best sounding car on track by a mile.

You were quick on track at Oulton on Friday, only you and the other fiesta were the only two small cars to pass me after lunch once the track had dried. Only my second outing in the Clio and I look forward to getting the car up to spec and coming back to Oulton. Have to say the Fiesta is a bit of a sleeper.
