My new (to me) Clio RS182 has developed a bit of a stutter and the amber engine light sometimes flashes, I have a feeling it's the lambada sensor but would like to confirm if anyone has a spare 5 mins with a scanner? I have an USB to obd2 adapter but it doesn't seem to want to play ball.
I'm...
I know I'm clutching at straws but is there any water passing through the oil seperator channels if the gasket is not sealed properley? - Just before I take the head off :S
Any help appreciated
And you will be able to hear the car running, as buying a second hand engine can be a bit hit and miss.. did only 500 miles in mine before it span a bearing and cracked the block.. so far it cost me 300 for a new bottom end and 300 to get the bearings changed, new cam belt and built back up...
I've just had the same issue.. mine spun the main bearing.. knackered the crank and cracked the block for a laugh!!
Fortunately I'll be going on holiday for a week so at least we won't be fighting over the first one ;)
I guess its a case of opening it up and assessing the damage.. do many people bother getting things balanced lightened or hardened..? as now would be a good time if its worth while
not since I've had it although when I bought it I had to change the sump as it had a crack in it..hmm a story is unfolding..
so does this mean just new bearings do you think..?
After doing a sprint day at Curborough about half way round my first timed lap the engine gave way. It still drives but makes a clanging noise when revved.
I trailered it back home and will need it inspecting but has anyone know of what it's likely to be, and what can I do to increase the...
I was joking about the ribbed.. lol
Don't worry to much about the price of the Air filter.. as numerous tests have shown it could cost £200 and you wouldn't see much over standard..
What ecu are you running?
Well other than my printout I guess it's just a trip to the pod.. £5 filter and all...
Thanks for your help with the quotes..
I can see what they're getting at but running a full stand-alone ecu that has been mapped around a completely different exhaust system and intake, I don't think it unrealistic to see a 10hp gain give an optimistic reading allowance of +/-5hp and you get...
Standard unleaded
It's mapped to what the engine needs and wants.. the exhaust system is considerably different.. 20? err more like 10-15 at best..
Emerald
Knock sensor is disconnected and disabled
I need to keep the noise down, there's no easy way of fitting a standard back box...
not sure if it has already been posted but Scoff's turbocharged 172 based engine recently put down around 511bhp on rolling road day that motorscope was hosting.. mind blowing :race:
it gets excited :).. I can't say I feel it on the road but it could be down to the 70cm ribbed induction pipe.. it may smooth out if I replaced it with silicon or something simular
Hi there,
You may have seen me asking questions about mapping, putting the engine together etc..so thanks all for your input... well I decided to get it mapped at Emerald as I have a Sprint/Hill Climb this Sunday and I'm glad I did I managed 183bhp and 160lbft torque, not only am I happy with...
I've recently had a gearbox rebuilt locally at a place called scotts gearboxes, it was for my golf where everyone else was charging £700 plus I got it done for £590 inc clutch and fitting and got a 12 month garentee and I'd certainly recommend him, he was very enthusiast and genuine. Best of all...
oops I keep forgetting to put the engine type in ..its the 172 ph2 but I realised to my relief it goes away when the clutch is depressed.. I'm not so worried now :)
I've noticed a bizarre kind of noise on tickover.. I can only describe it as a tick tac kind of noise, admitadley I haven't got much in the way of sound proofing so you might not normally hear it sitting in the car..
..does anyone have any idea's?
Thanks guys, I guess the main advise is get it rolling roaded.. but I have a sprint event next weekend and the chances of getting it booked in are slim, fortuantley it's only 900yrds per run.. so I was looking for some safe parameters.
Mark One.. it's an emerald ECU with adaptive mapping..
I...
Hi there, does anyone know the maximum degrees the clio 172 runs timing wise or even better anyone have an ignition map they would share.
I've got some values which the car is running reasonable well at but feel I could add more advance to most of the map but would like to know my limits before...
