Just spoke to apple about booking a genius appointment and having my phone seen to (only a minor issue).

They said since last night's announcement they've been inundated (SP) with people getting their iPhone's fixed up before selling on to buy the new one... lol!!!

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

I'm going to photograph, and try to sell mine today/tonight.

Then will rock with a £10 phone for 2 weeks.

Exactly my plan after Friday, original box, headphones, charger etc... keeping it all carefully FTW.

Doubt it if you only touch once. Opening an app, selecting a contact, starting a video call cant be done with one touch.
It'l be an option to "open video" (or something) once in a phone call on this menu:

iphone-call.png

its on one of the videos on the apple site!! and you are correct it appears to be a button on the call screen

I may sell my minto 3G now whilst they're fetching the money, use a cheapo for a few weeks and get a 4 if they're not silly money. If they are stupidly expensive then I'll buy a 3G again which will have dropped in price by that time so I SHOULD have some change too!

All in an ideal world obviously!

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

I thought that too.

Important question for me... If you don't quite pass the credit check on o2 (likely I won't after the prev couple of years) do you still get the option to pay a flat deposit of say £100, that comes off your bill after a few months?

Also, will the metal frame not be a static generator? Lol

Think I just sold my 3G to a mate, within an hour lol

tbh im just going to get the new phone n use o2 recycle as they are offering £175, seems pretty good tbh.

dont know what they are worth 2nd hand and a bit battered in hall honesty, my logic is that if i can cover the cost of the down payment on the 4 then its all good :D

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

I got an iphone 3GS not long ago, i'll never use the other camera (maybe the flash) so I don't really mind not having a 4. The upgraded software covers most of the stuff on the 3GS as stated by the OP.

It would be a joke being from you lol.
I dont mind helping people out if they dont know, but you'd be suprised how many people are just asking left right and centre without reading anything.

You back already then? Thought she'd of stopped you coming on here now you have other responsibilities.....

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

They will release PAYG models on release day. Apple have said it will be the biggest launch theyve ever done. Price is another matter though

In the vodaphone shop they said payg handset would be about £400 but he said don't quote me on that, even though I did ;)

Will be doing the same thing, my phones a bit battered and cant see anyone paying 175+ for it so may as well recycle to cover the likely 150 that o2 will charge for my 35/40 pound a month contract

Hopefully be able to pick up a cheap 3GS until my contract is up in November and I can FINALLY have an iPhone.

Presuming I can run it on my current sim, guess I'll just have to watch the net usage as I'm limited to 500MB free on my curent plan.

Lol just did some math to see if I could buy out my contract if O2 don't offer a decent early upgrade option

Got 19 months left of my contract now so would have to pay out £855!!! To start clean lol me don't think so!!

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

My only worry, the PAYG price comes out stupidly high, or, NO PAYG is released on launch.

I have thought about this already:

I have 8 months left of my contract, at £35, is roughly the same cost as mine is worth second hand.

With this in mind, when it comes out I'll see which is financially better, buying my contract out and starting a new contract with o2, so £280+cost of phone on £35 month contract OR, carrying on my contract and buying the phone PAYG £whatever the cost is

This is not the best situation to be in, I haven't got a suggestion for you I'm afraid, lol!

:D Definitely cheaper to just buy a PAYG iPhone 4 and use your contract with it.

I'm hoping 02 offer a good upgrade package but they will probably disappoint me!

If not then I'll skip 4 and just wait for 5!

Actually yeah as sneeks says, if the new one is £400, then you could sell yours for £280 or whatever and then buy the new one for just £120? Or whatever the price is.

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

Seems a decent upgrade, although, I was expecting something that would make me say 'I have to have it' and it doesn't.

I'll still get it, just will wait until it's been out a month or so, when they are easily obtainable and in stock. And only if O2 are going to be unlocking them, as I'll need it to be unlocked.

Shame that they missed out some basic things like notification LED's, HTC and Blackberry have them, and it's a pain having to light the screen up just to see if you've had a missed call or text. Unless it's there and we don't know about it yet.

I'm more excited about the software than the hardware, so I might find I'll be happy with iOS4 on my 3GS. Although I imagine I will give in at some point.

All in all, a decent upgrade for once!!

Just called 02 and they'll get a 16GB iPhone 4 to my door the day before the launch date, if it's possible. :approve:

If not, it'll be launch

Unfortunate for me, I signed up to a 24month in October, so chances are it'll be cheaper for me to sell the 3GS and buy the 4 on PAYG.

I've taken the pictures, now time to sell ;)

(await me crying that I'm stuck on a Tesco £10 phone for 6 months until PAYG is released)

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

Coming to T-Mobile aswell :D Being staff means ill be getting mine the day we get them :p

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

I don't know why people would bother paying off remainder of contract

16gb iPhone 4 will be £400-450 ish

A decent condition iPhone 3GS 16gb on ebay at the moment is going for £300-350

If you use the £350 to pay your contract off - you'll then have to get another 18 month contract and probably still pay £90 for the phone

Just take the £350 - add £100 of your own money and get one on pay as you go. Throw the pay as you go sim in the bin and put your contract sim in

Job done - then when your current contract ends you can drop onto a pay as you go and save a fortune

Re: iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (Read this before starting more threads)

You can go down one step every 3 months.

Are you 100% on that? I went down from a £45 a month to a £15 a month in one go by just asking when I cancelled my o2 contract in March?

Maybe worth a shot asking.
