iPhone 4/iOS4 Info (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

The new iPhone 4 will be available as 16GB & 32GB in black released in the UK on 24th June. White unavailable at this time.

You will need a microsim as the iPhone 4 does not take the current standard simcard. These can be obtained via your network or you can be brave and cut your current one with a craft knife..

To upgrade..

You'll need to be in the last 3months of your current contract or happy to pay off your contract (months left x £20 on o2) to be able to upgrade early, or alternatively purchase the iPhone 4 on PAYG from your respective network or from Apple at £499/599

O2 official on Twitter just updated with the tweet:

O2 customers still in contract will get a limited time special upgrade offer


You'll need to go into your networks store or call them and proceed from there.

Can't wait, but from what your saying, it seems like facetime and a second camera are the only differences of the iPhone 4?

Looks awesome, a while for my upgrade, but the last 5 months with my iPhone have been worth it imo.

Im going to want to get the new software for my 3G once released, however the phone is currently unlocked using one of the tools ... I really want to get it unlocked officially.

It's locked to o2, I'm on Orange - I've never had a o2 contract (apart from my work phone).

Is there anyway of getting the phone unlocked officially without an o2 number?

Good idea - do you still need to pay the £15 quid though?

Also read that Apple can tell if the phone is jailbroken or not? Will give it a go though ... cheers Dan.

I think it looks extremely sexy in black, however the 3GS will do me absolutly fine for the forseeable future, especially as it will handle all the upgrades i'd want for now. I can live without the video calling thing personally. Comes a time when £400+ is spent better elsewhere as well tbh.

Updated the OP.

It seems like they've learnt from when they pissed everyone off last year with the 3GS' and don't want a repeat performance.

Now I am NOT happy, do I sell my iPhone tmrw, and put up with a £10 tesco's jobbie until 2 weeks time? Or do I wait and see what happens.... :(

But it's not catch 22, what if they offer a crap deal, then my iPhone is worth a lot less because of release day, or what if they offer a good deal and I've already sold the fucker...

With not owning a current iphone, will it be as easy/cheap for me to pre order the new iphone on the pre order date ?

My contract runs out on the 14th ( day before pre order date) so would i just leave that contract and open up a brand new contract with the iphone ? even though im currently on o2.

Regardless of upgrading early, o2 won't take your current one back.

A couple of days won't make much difference. You only have to look at the F/S section on here to see how many have come up for sale in the last week. There's going to be even more for sale as of now.

Tonksy, just wait for the upgrade details from o2 in a day or so and follow those instructions or if you want a new number, cancel your current one and pre-order.

I have 12 months of my contract left but NEED to upgrade :( gonna have to try and sell my body or something

Is it an iphone you have the now??? Sell it and buy a payg 4.0 and use the contract sim.

I'd love to get an idea of the English price, $199 seems nuts tbh...

Oh and Dan - Its not the resale price I'm so worried about tbh, its more the trade in price dropping like a stone when the market becomes flooded with them.
