Xenons not very effective

  Volvo S40
Hi all,
I've got a 2004 182 with factory fitted xenons. When driving at night I've noticed they just aren't very good, in fact I'd say they're significantly worse than the halogen bulbs in the other car I drive.

The beam appears to be very low and the light output isn't very good. Is there anything I can do about this? I was under the impression they auto level so not sure if I can adjust them myself.

Do people ever buy replacement/uprated xenon bulbs?

Many thanks in advance.

maybe the auto level isn't working and they are pointing down too far?

Also it's sensible to let a garage do the adjusting for you so you (with the right equipment) know you wont blind other drivers
