write protection on a memory card?

I've just bought a new nokia and i'm trying to put all my mp3's from my Sony Ericsson memory card on to the nokia memory card but it is saying the new nokia card is write protected, please remove protection or use another card :S

Sometimes memory cards have little write protect switches on them.

Either that, or are you sure they are the same formats? Sony Ericssons tend to use Sony Memory Stick, and Nokias something else.
