Unbelievable insurance price on 172!!! Advice needed!

  Clio Sport 172 Cup
I'm new to the Clio Sport scene but have been wanting one for a while. Seen a nice one I'd like to buy but hardly anyone would insure me. Im 21 afterall. I rung up my current insurer and they said to switch my insurance from my standard 1.6 golf to the 172 for only an extra £290, overall cost £1300. This is almost too good be true considering nobody else would insure me for less than £3000.

Is my insurance likely to stay this low? Or will they cane me next year? I don't want to buy it now then have to sell it next year when i cant afford the insurance :(

Advice needed,

Thanks

Ask them for a price at renewal time....? Make sure the excess hasn't gone into orbit.

When renewal time comes, call sky, brentcare and greenlight before you call anyone else.....

Im just renewing mine at the moment, to start on the 6th of June. Found a price of £745 Fully Comp with £500 excess.

Im 21 too btw, with 4 years NCB. I put my Dad and my Girlfriends dad on it aswel as my girlfriend (but she put it up by £50)

That was with Elephant, but Admiral and Bell was within £50 of every quote I did!

Who you with at the moment?

Dosn't seem too bad afterall then. I just didnt want to buy it going only on that insurance quote, for it then to go sky high next year when i renew! Never put girlfriends on insurance lol! Ye elephant and admiral seemed the better two. Everyone else wanted £3000+. Im with admiral atm, they seem pretty decent.

Cheers lads

My quote from comparison websites was £1500 with 2 years ncb, driving for 2 years and 20 years old.

But could of gotten cheaper with Adiran Flux or another specialist company.

if you use comparison sites, comparethemarket always works out about 33% cheaper for me than other comparison sites
Moneysupermarket: elephant quoted £1300
comparethemarket: elephant quoted £950 :D

using the exact same details in both sites

Flux quoted me £1300, compared to my Elephant quote of £745. Im sure they just pick numbers out the sky for insurance!

Use comparison sites to build a list of insurers to try, then get your own quotes from them IMO. It's near enough always cheaper going direct and not via a third party.

I'm near certain Aviva wanted to know if I'd had a claim or convictions in the last 5 years. Might vary depending on insurer.

I found this too but when I tried to follow up Admiral through comparethemarket they hadn't passed on details of claims and convictions, hence the cheaper quote. Confused.com quote was accurate though.
