trophy shocks go on a 2002 172???

Save yourself time money and hassle and get some H&R coilovers on there. plus you'll actually lose the 4x4 look if you fit them.

Your biggest problem wouldn't be wether they'd fit (which they wont) but actually getting hold of some Trophy shocks in the first place. Don't expect to be able to order them from Renault.

I'd heard they were like rocking horse s**t/hens teeth. TBH you might have more luck direct with sachs but i suspect that renault being dumb f***s probably ordered enough to supply the run of trophys and no spares.

hmmmm wonder what happens on a warranty claim for a faulty shock then?

nothing lasts forever

There no spare shocks at the moment they only made enought for the run regards warently work they'll end up fixing your old ones. If you crash err you'll have a problem.
They will won't fit a 172 hub though unless you drill the bolt holes a few mm futher together.. You could upgrade to a 182 Cup spec hub though as the tropy stuff will bolt onto that.
Tropy stuff isn't the best stuff ever tough better stuff aftermarket is availibale.

Why arent these Trophy shocks anygood then??

From reading they seem to be a "race spec" strut. ie the Remote Resivour Damper and from experiencing a Trophy handle i cannot fault them............a Coilover on the other hand which i used to have handled well but made the car skip alot on the roads.

They are great, ignore the others they're just jealous ;)

Interesting to hear your experiences between the two. The Trophy struts are excellent, asthetically i'd like a slight drop in ride height, but from a handling point of view i wouldn't swap them for anthing else. I'm sure some of the coilover setups available are excellent provided they are set up properly which seems to be the key.

In the case of the original poster, as good as they are, I wouldn't bother trying to get hold of some Trophy shocks and make them fit a 172, might aswell just fit some quality coilovers and get them setup by someone who knows what they are doing.

  172 mk2
they must have spares, crashes etc..

dont companies have to make a part for 10 years, then they can stop making it but normally sell the mould...

What coilovers out of interest?

Standard shocks of 172 by KYB (Japan)
Trophy shocks by Sachs (Very well-known in Germany).

Too bad that Sachs doesn't has any normal road version for 172 or 182.

How much are the H&R Coilovers? Also, where can I buy them from? Are there any Renault specialists in the West Midlands?

Cheers

£500 or so shop about on the net or try John2modified on here.

There not difficult to fit its the setup which is imposrant anyone can fit a set and do a reasonable good rouge guess at setting up.
howie p - Nope there no spares last time I checked Renault never thought about them and at the price why should they make a spare few sets which may never be needed since there only a few Trophys.
