Track car project.

  BMW M135i
You need the ECU/UCH/Looms/Decoder Ring/Key/Ignition Barrel from donor car to get it running on the standard management. Theres no way i'd say you'll be able to repair the loom if you've got no experience I wouldn't even tackle one and i've got a reasonable understanding of how it all works.

You should be able to get a loom from cliospares or SRB i'd have thought, unsure on cost though.

  BMW M135i
can the ECU and looms not come from 1 car and the rest come from another?

No, everything needs to come from the same car as its all coded to each other. Your fucked for using the standard management if you haven't got all those bits.

This is what I mean by its probably not the best base to start with if your learning.

  Clio's
so the only way i can now do it is by getting everything all from another 172? can the looms not be used from this with the others?

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
maybe but with a s**t load of wiring, de-coding etc (like hours and hours and hours LOL)

you'll either need aftermarket Management (££'s!) or bin the current lot and start again?!

all as above.

you ideally need to start with one complete donar car, complete with engine, ecu, loom, uch, decoder ring etc etc

without being harsh... you really should research more before buying an engine! and if you bought it from a breaker, you should ask. lol

otherwise it's major £££ to get them all talking to each other.. ie stand-alone management and costs soon spiral!

Please don't take this the wrong way but you might be better off cutting your loses and ebaying the current lump, some numpty is bound to buy it then putting the money towards an engine complete with loom, keys. etc, would be alot easier.

mini-valver

If you're not majorly bothered by cost then aftermarket management is about £1500 fitted and mapped....

then you can bolt a set of bodies to it and have 200bhp.

will a breakers sell the ECU, UCH, decoder ring key ignition barrel and looms seperate to the engine or not?

  Lionel Richie
specialist breakers will

i told you to buy the whole lot from them in the first place, you'll soon wished you'd listened!!

this is what you get from SRB if you buy the kit from them

ie a whole car minus the shell

from what people are saying looks like it will be alot of work to get the other parts to work with the engine we have.

  Lionel Richie
ha! well guess how much the looms, ecu, uch, decoder ring and keys, radiator and hoses, gearbox, clutch, , driveshafts, hubs, calipers, flywheel and starter motor is gonna set you back!

but you get all the running gear, untouched wiring, keys, immob, ecu, uch, radiator everything ready to fit on a pallet, i was speaking to people who could buy it on friday and have it a driving car by the monday with a kit from SRB

edit.....you all replied when i was typing lol

  Lionel Richie
i wish you luck, but you have bugger all chance of getting it working without all the bits i list (look again, i've updated it)

  BMW M135i
about 3 times what i paid for the other engine though!

Its all already been said but your getting 3 times as much stuff ffs! Without meaning to sound harsh (although it will sorry) this is what I mean by I don't think you understand the weight of knocking a track car up. I'm assuming you've seen ben_p's efforts and thought "i'll have some of that" which you can but it won't be dirt cheap and straightforward.

Might seem like i'm being a c**t but its the cold hard truth at the end of the day.

oh dear..

i thought this was why forums/clubs were useful? ..for the information

especially if you discussed it with Fred too tbh. lol research!

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
i reakon you could get the all the bits for 1k ish

if your keeping the FBW

when you need a mrk2 psh2 loom, and you will need to get the pedal too (for the throttle)

IMO sell that engine on ebay and buy the kit from MATT

  F4R'd ITB'd '92 cup racer
just to throw something else into the balance here

if you're going to use a cable throttle setup then why not buy a phase 1 loom and ecu and ditch the uch and current hacked loom? then get the ecu decoded so it will run without decoder and key.

this is basically what ive done with the valver, although its not running just yet :clown: (watch ive probably cursed myself there lol)

He knows the weight of the project and hes doing motorsport at uni its just he thought he would be able to buy it cheaper seperate.I think its either buy the kit from matt or even cheaper buy a written off ph1 and strip it and just add bits. Will still be a project but easier and cheaper!

Whyve you posted a picture of Mike, Chris? Bailey (the dog) blatantly chew the loom wires to pieces

Would all the electronics of a PH1 e.g. the ECU, Looms, UCH, ignition barrel, key e.t.c. fit a PH2 engine?
